Seriously now, congratulations Chad. These two courses (Music Theory 1,2 Guitar Course) made a lot of things more clear than before. I think they put me in the correct path in order to continue dealing with music. You 're such a great teacher.
Thank you this video really helped me. I play Piano and Guitar, but started on Piano first. So I was approaching the Guitar with a Piano mindset. This video answered a lot of my questions, thank you.
Really glad to hear that. I created this course specifically for guitarists because the majority of theory is taught based on the piano and it can be difficult to translate to the guitar unless you know how. Thanks! -Chad
Phenomenal! Very well taught. You seem knowledged. I took notes side by side as well. But thank you really helped me to be familiar and know what the terms are when it comes to breaking down a song.
I was right, this course is better than Theory Course 1 ..... if that is possible. Saying this, both courses contain invaluable information, taught in a concise and clear manner by a brilliant teacher .... Thanks Chad!!!!
I actually feel like i know how my guitar works now and it feels good man, thank you. Even if it s just a little bit of knowledge about music really, it is great to know this stuff. Thanks Chad.
thankyou very much, these 2 courses really educated me deeply on underatanding guitar more, it answers all my confusions and questions!! really❤ thankyou more power to the author💯
Thank you so much Chad! completed both Music Theory 1 and 2, onto Major Scale Mastery 1! Finally some practical, been hanging to play something already!!!
Thank you so much for these courses (Music theory 1 and 2), Chad! I've learned so much and feel so much more confident in my music theory knowledge now! I can't wait to jump into the major scale mastery course! Cheers
Thanks Chad! Just finished Theory 2. I've been playing for years without really knowing what was going on under my fingers. So looking forward to Major Scale Mastery 1 course. I know it's on hold, but which of the other lesson sets would recommend next in the sequence on the site in the meantime? Thanks again!
You're welcome. Really glad to hear you've found the lessons helpful. Yeah Major Scale Mastery 1 was delayed. Was hoping it would be out by now. It's def a priority though along with Music Theory 3. Our Music Theory For Guitar series goes much deeper into music theory. Music Theory 1 and Music Theory 2 are basically updated and improved versions but until Music Theory 3 and beyond come out you might want to check out Music Theory For Guitar ua-cam.com/play/PLDNPXoSAAaRJ9CoWhCyxeqmKRKvZv0iu4.html You can also check out the premium courses on our site and see if any cover info that you need moveforwardguitar.teachable.com/courses/category/Premium%20Courses Thanks! -Chad
looking forward to the Major Scale Mastery course! can you give us an update about when it'll be available? can't wait to dig in, buy the materials, etc.
It's been delayed a little because of other projects that I've had to complete. Not sure when it will be available yet but hopefully in the not too distant future. Thanks! -Chad
Dude, don't leave me hanging! Your Theory courses were very good. The diagrams were great. I could see clearly what you were trying to explain, then hearing you play it really hammered it home. Most YT guitar "teachers" show a quicky explanation on the fretboard and you can't quite make out what's going on, but your stuff is top notch. You mentioned the Major Scale Mastery course would have some explanations about actually using the scales to create melodies and solos. I'm very interested in that and would love to have you explain it the way you do. Standing by with credit card in hand...
I love creating suspense:) Really glad to hear you like the theory vids and thanks for the positive feedback. Going to get the Major Scale Mastery course done as soon as I can. Thanks! -Chad
Does the up and down pattern follow the whole step , half step pattern? And how many frets does it include every pattern? I noticed there's 4 and 5 frets
Really glad the courses cleared things up. Not sure on release of Major Scale Mastery 1 yet. I started it but it's been temporarily put on the back burner to finish some other things on our site. Hopefully in the not too distant future. Thanks! -Chad
You're welcome. I'm in the process of working on a bunch of new courses and that one is included. I don't know a release date yet but if you're on our mailing list you'll be updated as soon as I know. Thanks! -Chad
hurmm im sorta confused a little... i see the same sort of shapes here as i do in your 5 CAGED pattern major scale. are they different somehow? for example pattern 7 here is pattern 1 in the caged major scale video. are they two different major scales all together? could you help me out? Thank you so much :)
at 14:25 he says patterns always stay the same at every key. why then when i google image search 'major scale pattern 1' i get a thousand different patterns? every time i cross reference anything new i learn in music theory i get more confused and dismayed
Question. On Cmaj Scale Pattern 7 Position 7 (at 15:39) why would you not start on the Tonic (C maj at the 8th fret). The 7th note of the cmaj scale (number 7 on fret 7) is included. Why cant you take that out and just start on the tonic? I know you dont actually have to play that note during a solo or what not but why include it in the pattern? Hope that makes sense. Love the videos. Sorry if thats a dumb or difficult question. If so just let me know and I'll try to revise it. Also when is major scale mastery being published?
You can. There are lots of different patterns that you can use. All you have to make sure is that when you play a pattern it's in order 1-2-3-4-5-6-7 and you aren't playing unison notes. Not a dumb question at all. Don't know release date on Major Scale Mastery yet. It's def one I want to get out as soon as I can though. Thanks! -Chad
Move Forward Guitar awesome. That makes sense. Thank you. And ya I can’t wait for the mastery to come out. Your lessons have been a life saver. Although I’m still a little confused on chord progression theory. You know, the 1,4,5 being major and the 2,3,6 being minor and the 7 being diminished (I think). That whole thing confuses me and even more so I don’t know how to apply it. I’ll have to look around more for some details. Otherwise your lessons are definitely the best!
Chad I have a question. Why is it that on other websites when I look for patterns for the major and minor scales that they show are completely different from what you have?
Since the guitar has unison notes there are many different patterns you can use to play the same scale. These are just the ones I like the most. Thanks! -Chad
Question: Just like taking the pattern formed by starting on a different scale degree and applying it to the tonic of the scale gives you a mode and name and starting on the 6th degree is the equivalent of the natural minor scale because it produces a different 'feel', is there a new name or way of thinking for using any of these scale patterns starting with a degree other than 1 or 6?
If the first note of a major scale is you're Tonic you're playing the Major Scale or the Ionian Mode. If the 2nd note is you're Tonic you're playing the Dorian Mode. 3rd note Phyrgian Mode, 4th note Lydian Mode, 5th note Mixolydian Mode, 6th note The Natural Minor Scale or the Aeolian Mode, 7th note Locrian Mode. Thanks! -Chad
So bassically these are the positions for major scales, and if i wanted to play in a different key your 1st postion would be where the "tonic" or root is then your second position changes to whatever the second note is in that scale..so say i wanted to play in c the position that begins with c is my first and my second would be the position that begins with D? Am i correct?
Yes...pattern one will be the same no matter what key you're in. So if you play pattern 1 in the first position you're playing the F Major Scale. If you play pattern 1 in the 8th position you're playing the C Major Scale and so on. If you wanted to play the Major Scale up the whole fretboard you would play pattern 1 starting on the first note of the scale, pattern 2 starting on the second note of the scale and so on. Thanks! -Chad
Greetings here. Question please. On scale pattern 1 in I would like to play the pattern from the 1st E string, would that be: F G A D E A Bb E... or In this case I have to skip the B string and go directly to G string? Then It becomes: F G A Bb C E E F.. I hope my question is somehow clear. Thanks
Not sure I understand the question but the scale would always stay in order. So an F Major scale would always be F-G-A-Bb-C-D-E. Hope that helps. Thanks! -Chad
Hi Chad Thanks a lot for your excellent courses. I learnt a lot from them. I am trying to find the major scale mastery course you mentioned in this lesson. I couldn't find the link. Are you making them now?
The Major Scale Mastery course isn't available yet. I'm still in the process of creating it. We'll email everyone on our list when it's close to being released. Hopefully in the next few months or so. Thanks! -Chad

Hi, how can I grab the workbook and guide?
I just wanna ask how those people dislike this amazing videos :/
thank you so muchhhh
What determines where you break the scale up into patterns?
These two courses really clear things up, I'm really looking forward for the Major Scale Mastery 1 Course! Just wondering when will it be available???
Really glad the courses cleared things up. Not sure on release of Major Scale Mastery 1 yet. I started it but it's been temporarily put on the back burner to finish some other things on our site. Hopefully in the not too distant future. Thanks! -Chad
@@Moveforwardguitar would love to see that one
So from these patterns and positions we can derive every other scale on the guitar since they're essentially the same?
thanks for the great lessons! Any updates on the Major Scale Mastery 1 Course?
You're welcome. I'm in the process of working on a bunch of new courses and that one is included. I don't know a release date yet but if you're on our mailing list you'll be updated as soon as I know. Thanks! -Chad

We can’t find the course you mentioned in this lesson called Major Scale Mastery 1.
Please advise.
We're releasing a bunch of courses this year and Major Scale Mastery 1 will be one of them. Thanks! -Chad

Also, do my eyes deceive me, or do I see three pentatonic patterns in the scale of F major? *G - A - D?*
If the first note of a major scale is you're Tonic you're playing the Major Scale or the Ionian Mode. Where is the music theory for songwriting video
It was put on the back burner while I worked on other stuff but lots of people have been asking about it so I'm working on it now. Thanks! -Chad
Great, I am looking forward to it
