A neighbor called out to me while knocking on this door to let me know the house was vacant. He'd been mowing it a while ago but the overgrowth was too much and was damaging his mower. So, it's been growing rampant for a while now and looks so bad for the neighborhood. Luckily, I was able to clean up the entire thing, reveal some hidden sidewalks, and make it look better than it's looked in a long time.

This house came out very nice.

You should put an SB Mowing sign in all the yards you do for free for 1 or 2 wks. That way the neighbors or realtors know who to thank.

I have a lot of stress and anxiety in my life. Same job for 21 years. It's a great job and pays well with a pension but it's hard hard work and I EARN my money but my mental health is shot. When I watch your videos I feel so much calm. I do alot of yard work this year. I get on my hands and knees and pull weeds. I'm slowly investing in tools and I actively enjoy being outside and doing yardwork..it's fun and helps me keeping me optimistic. I thank you tremendously for giving me something to be happy about.
Omgosh in the back it looked like nature was taking back over the house! What you do is incredible. Both for the owners and the neighborhood. However you got your niche/calling/bug or whatever you want to call it for what you do...everyone that you have helped and everyone that watches what you do and gets inspired...thank you.

Shout out to the neighbor who was mowing the yard. Spencer came in and rescued that yard in addition to bettering the whole neighborhood. 👍
He might need to help the next door house soon with the boarded up windows.
If the owners are not elderly or sick, they should at least try to maintain their yard if they can't afford to pay a professional. It doesn't have to be as good but just to keep the grass down and prevent a lot of overgrowth.

Watching this video, I spied: planters, a vegetable trellis, wind chimes, a porch swing & an old-fashioned clothesline … I imagined that this was a cozy, warm & loving home a lifetime (or two) ago … so nostalgic to see it’s history uncovered & a bit bittersweet ❤ Please continue being awesome!

Wow Spencer, I think you got there just in time before nature reclaimed this place! The owner should be so pleased as should the neighbors. The gentleman who mowed the lawn for him, must've been completely overwhelmed by the prospect of cleaning that place up!

Neighbor looked like he might need some help also. He had been trying to keep up with this lawn and was putting wear and tear on his mower and here you come in helping someone else. Kind of hard not to have hurt feelings.

Only a cheap slumlord would take up on the offer to get the yard done for free. For him cause you know that he wouldn't touch it with a ten foot poll. Slumlords never take care of their properties.

If I had a house that was unoccupied and I lived out of town, I think I would pay someone to keep up the lawn. Spencer, you are an angel for helping people and the neighborhoods. The owner is obviously a slum lord. I can't understand why he didn't offer to pay, and then come and take care of the house. Paint, Fix doors, Powerwash the house and driveway, etc... It would be to his financial benefit in keeping the house rented.
Your a crime prevention gardener, making these gardens look superb, prevents people breaking in and damaging the place. That garden was a complete riot in every sense, but it looks superb again, well done Spencer, pat on the back again. Thank you xxx
This is another topic but I was surprised at the lax squatters laws in some states. The last thing the elderly homeowner needs is to be dealing with THAT nightmare. I think this good work helps to prevent that. I'm glad that the neighbour seems to be watching the place as well. 🙂🙂🙂

by the look of this property the owner has been neglecting it for years and clearly not putting any of the rent that was being collected back into the maintenance of the property. It is no wonder the renters moved; this house clearly is not safe to live in.

It reminds me of the rental I lived in in the late 90s when I was in grad school and had very little money. That house took good care and was beautiful in my eyes.

@@darter216 The slumlord owner needs to keep it up, paint, powerwash the driveway/walkway, fix the doors, etc... He could keep it rented if he put some work into it.

Spencer, you are doing an outstanding job of knocking down a very neglected and overgrown landscape. The neighbor you spoke with is understandably reluctant to do this, because most homeowners don’t have the right equipment and horsepower to tackle the very tall yards. Your string trimmer, edger and zero turn are what is needed to knock down an overgrown yard. The transformation from neglected to the neighborhood’s jewel is amazing. Really well done ❤😊

I believe that the neglect of that property has been going on a lot longer than 6-months. I feel so sorry for the other neighbors that have to deal with this absentee landlord. If you won't take care of it, sell the property to someone who will.

Idk what state that is. But in Toronto bylaw will keep giving you tickets for grass being overgrown to point where owner saves more hiring landscaper. Same with snow, if not shoveled in 48 hrs they can Ticket.

I think there are situations in people's lives that come up without warning that can set you back a bit. This place provides income for the owner. Renters can be awful! Perhaps he lost his spouse. Perhaps he has cancer. I don't like to judge. SB mowing didn't!! Thank you SB for helping this man. Now he is either a step closer to renting or a step closer to selling! You are an angel!

I just noticed, you were throwing the soil and grass debris over to the neighbor's lawn. I would've removed the 2 white planters/pots in front of the doorsteps. Not sure if I suggested to you before: 1st, thin the edge of the side walk with a weed eater, 2nd, edge with an edger then blow. You can now mow the grass and blow. If the grass needs some touch up edging, you can do that too. I would pick up all the loose debris/trash first, before I start along with the overgrown weeds and unruly tree branches that stick out which might interfere with mowing.
