I have Fibromyalgia, Degenerative Disc Disease, and possibly Trigeminal Neuralgia. I understand. I use yoga nidra for sleep and hypnosis for sleep videos. There are so many on UA-cam. I like Michael Sealey, for one. I put my phone upside down and usually use headphones. I sleep too hard and don't get enough REM sleep. I haven't felt rested since 2003, but I get an average of 9 hours sleep. If I get less than 7 hours, I can't function! I take 2 hours to wind down before bed, dim lights, practice ukulele, knit, read positive, inspiring books, yoga video for sleep (I like Yoga With Adriene on UA-cam), journaling, warm bath, aromatherapy diffuser with lavender, magnesium lotion on tender spots... I do restful things. Right before I turn on the video, I write down the things I have to do the next day, then 3 gratitudes and why I'm grateful for each. Then it's time for sleep.

I actually read a book recently called "Why We Sleep" By Matthew Walker. I truly think this is the best book to read about sleep because it goes into depth about how there are people who are truly night owls and early birds for survival purposes. Also there are people who fall somewhere in between night owls and early birds. Also, lack of sleep has been proven to be linked with Alzheimer's, and sleep is not for the weak! The body cannot be fooled, and when you pull an all nighter, it puts stress on the body and it cannot recover those lost sleep hours. The body cannot be tricked out of sleep, and there are many consequences when you do not get enough of it. Please read this book!! It's very scientific, but full of so much good information.

Pretty sure you can get magnesium salts for a bath which is good combination for improving sleep & soothing sore muscles. I also heard somewhere that making sure your body is (comfortably) warm but having a cool room is a great sleep combo. I think the way they phrased it, is make sure your hands & feet are warm & your head is cold. Have to say that works for me but I don't know how much science is in there.

Bookish Shenanigans medication can also effect your sleep for example i used to be on the pill and i asked the doctor could that be why i have insomnia she literally said that she couldnt answer because there was no proof but i tried it and most of my problems pretty much disappeared immediately

I use a magnesium lotion from Life-flo. They have a spray version, as well. I just prefer the lotion. It's not very expensive, about $8, and lasts a long time. I believe they have it on Amazon, but I buy from my local Natural Grocer store. I haven't seen it at Whole Foods, but that doesn't mean your nearest store doesn't have it. All the best...

The study in the book "Sleep Smarter" was from 1998 and was disproved in 2002.
In the journal "Science" (science.sciencemag.org/content/297/5581/571), Kenneth P. Wright Jr. and Charles A. Czeisler redid the study and found that light on the skin does not effect your sleep. An article from (www.sciencemag.org/news/2002/07/knee-clock-connection-disputed) says, "So circadian clock researchers Kenneth Wright and Charles Czeisler of Harvard Medical School in Boston repeated the experiment, with a few improvements. For instance, Campbell and Murphy [the scientist who did the 1998 study] had used body temperature as the indicator of circadian phase for all their subjects. But a later study reported that body temperature can be off by as much as 5 hours from circadian phase, so Wright and Czeisler tracked levels of the nighttime hormone melatonin, thought to be a more precise measure." Sorry for this little science rant.I thought the light study was cool and wanted to do more research on it to help with my sleep, but it seems even books can't be trusted :(. Love the rest of the video! You did an amazing job!

magnesium spray doesn't work... it's not absorbed through the transdermal :| it's as effective as spraying water on your skin before bed.

Warm baths are good because when you get out, your body cools off like when you're sleeping.
