    This gun is my favorite gun I own. It was my grandpas and he let me shoot it everytime we went to the range or to our property. I grew up with this rifle. It reminds me of my grandpa every time I look at it. If I had to give up one of my guns I’d give up any rifle before I gave this one up. It now sits in my room where I can take a quick look to see my grandpa.

    Was at a gun show today and saw a beautiful 1961 Marlin 39A with a price tag of $970.00. I salivated for awhile, gathered my composure, and went over to Walmart and bought the Henry Classic for $278.00.

    • @constitutionalrepublican1611

      yea, i bought the 61- 39a paid 650 for it in the original box in unfired non scratched pristine condition and today im also adding the henry aswell as a henry 44mag ;) cant have enough, while people craze over the semis which i have, ill salivate over my wall of leverguns. ever heard of a ruger lever action? i own 3 one in each caliber.
      why not better to have and not need than need and not have.

      Was at a gun store yesterday and saw a Model 39 Octagon from 1912. It was far from minty and the price tag was a little over 2,000 dollars. An absurd amount if you ask me. I could get a Winchester Model 94 from the 1890’s for that much.

      Marlins are garbage. So are the Brownings. You want the best, buy the Winchester 9422. Dollar for dollar, the Henry is great, but it ain't no 9422. I've had 3 Henry's. The one I have now, had been back to the factory 3 times, but the customer service is great. 3 tries, and they got me a rifle that works!

      Man if society was like that again things would be a lot better. Without the media making kids scared of guns, I’m 23 now have two boys of my own that are going to grow up like me, I know some people started earlier but I started shooting at 7, my dad bought me this exact rifle when I was 12 as my first gun. It’s going to be my firstborns first gun when he’s old enough and I’m thinking of buying another one for my second born. Growing up around guns and knowing how to be safe with them is essential and would prevent a lot of death in my opinion. So that’s how my boys are being raised, plus my fondest memories are out at the range or in the woods shooting with my dad I can only hope my boys will hold those memories with me as dear as I hold them with my dad.

    I found one of these marked "used $150." So I gave it a once over and it was brand new, it did have a chip out of the butt plate right along the edge. (Someone probably dropped it) got the guy interested in a multiple gun deal and he sold me that henry for $110 at the end. And it's now one of my favorite guns. Dead accurate, and cheap to shoot. Also very smooth action.

    I ordered two Henry trifles through GanderMoutain a few years back. After they came in I went to pick them up. I did not purchase either gun as one had several metal finishing scratches and screw head mark on it, the other one had a cracked stock . I instead bought browning , remington and Savage , never looked back at Henry, except to write Henry about this and NEVER got a response.

    I've had the shorter barrelled large loop version for years, love it! Great quality, if your using it for small game without a scope you will want to charge the front sight, way to big and thick for small rodents. While your at it throw a skinner ghost ring on the barrell, huge upgrade, some new Henry models come with skinner sights so obviously they took note, gotta love Henry!

    • @TheHYENA87
      @TheHYENA87 6 років тому +1

      Leveraction3030 I hear you, I'm about to scope a big game lever rifle for the same reason, I'll probally go with a scout and always keep my ghost ring on though... What are you gonna do? With a peep I've had to let a lot of nice bucks walk that were a little far for peeps. Pros and cons for everything I suppose. Scopes just ain't cool... But they sure work.

Put 50 through it with my son without a hiccup. This is the pinnacle IMO of .22 rifles. Keep the semis. The minute you unbox this rifle you can feel how well made it is. Good guns will get scratches, dings, and worn finishes simply because we use them so often...heck, I dropped one of our H001's today, it will be okay...pretty guns treated as collector's items interest us not...we believe in wearing them out, if possible, then buying another one...oh, we clean all our guns after use, that alone will extend the life of any firearm enormously...

A friend also tried it and got the same 3 " groups. I would love to have a leaver .22 LR but want much more accuracy than what I was getting with my Henry H001. Also the finish came off the inside of the receiver the first time I took it apart to clean it. That’s way to much money to practice with at the range. That 22 I could buy 525 rounds of Federal ammo for like $20. I’ve also seen the Henry 22 rifle brand new for as low as $289. Of course I’m in Missouri so prices my vary from state to state but $289 out here.

His gun was all metal and wood. The 22 magnet was fake wood, plastic, zinc and a piece of junk. I traded it on a model 94 and 357 Magnum. Is the 8001 still and all metal gun or has it been cheaper too?

    Ok. We already know that with your advice I’ve bought my wife a Buckmark and my daughter an H001. But my question is - we all know you SHOULD’Nt dry-fire a rimfire. But without a last round hold open, and with the inability to count to 10, can the Henry survive multiple dry-fires, just for the “11th” round?

    • @Coopdog1911
      @Coopdog1911 2 роки тому

      I examined the rim of the barrel, it does NOT have a notch cut in it to make it safe to dry fire. It may put up with some of that, but I would not advise doing it any more than you have to. One thing I like about the Ruger 10/22 (which I passed on to get this one tonight) is that little notch that makes it fairly safe to dry fire. Not seen many other guns made with that.

    A nice rifle, but if Henry could ever make one, I would be interested in a falling block .22.

    • @ricashbringer9866
      @ricashbringer9866 6 років тому +1

      A falling block .22 is a small single shot .22 that uses a lever to open the breach. You then place the round in the breach, close it, cock the hammer back and fire it. My dad had an old one, that I never got to shoot. He gave it to one of his brothers, so now I won't ever see it again. He gave me his old Remington .22 bolt action though.

      I think that would be a great rifle. Especially with a case hardened receiver it would look beautiful.

    My first .22 was a Montgomery Ward Western Field .22, made around 1930s, belonged to my great-uncle Yup. Multiple sights at the end of the barrel, with V-sight as well as a highly-calibrated (calibratable??) peep sight. That thing weighs as much as a fully loaded M1.... But accurate? Holy. Cow. Now in the "dumps" since I can't find parts, as some of the trigger/chamber parts (I am ***NO*** weapons mechanical expert. Period) are no longer available ...at least in the Raleigh-area. Enough of that... I plan on buying the H001 for my grand-daughter once she turns 11 (since my archaic piece is no longer shootable...is that a word?.... For those that want the quick load/reload option....give it some thought. A lever-action (my MW is bolt-action, barrel-fed) gives a shooter time to "regroup" and make mental corrections at a range. If you're hunting with a .22 and miss, you should have sighted the piece BEFORE heading into the woods! (Just MY opinion...at 66...) No criticism, just an observation...

    This is a darn nice little rifle. I have the Golden Boy and the H001, love them both. Great work Henry!!! Also, have the 45-70 brass and looking at maybe one of the silver editions next, when I decide which caliber. Perhaps the 22 mag.

      if youre looking for collectible, i suggest getting the ruger 22 mag lever action. of three calibers only 57,000 were made.
      magazine fed by the (1022 mag mags) js, ik ik henrys are good, hell great.... but i see those rugers being severely valuable in the future. i own one in each caliber, 22lr, 22mag and 44mag they hang with marlins, henrys and savages all day long.

      Leupold rimfire scope. They are about $200.00 or so and you will be getting a fine scope with a lifetime warranty. I had one on my 10/22.

    The baseline Henry .22 is up over a million? Mine is under 12k. Got it in '98. Still shoots great. They got that model correct right from the first batch.
    Still tempted to get one of the brass toned models with a big loop lever, just for showin' off.

      i have serial # 22 on my henry 22lr ;) probably makes it more valuable being in unfired condition with the box cleaned every other month. back when i got that i preferred my marlin bolt action that took severe use and abuse.

I think I can adjust the rear sight to get back on target for up and down but do not know if there is any way to adjust the left and right strike of the bullet. Please help. Tks
