I love it. His childhood trauma led him to have an absolute determination to achieve his successes and become the best chef in his country and he did it.
his acting is beautifully done here. the way he first recalls the past, he has the look of a man who has realized his selfish desire, but at the end of it when he explains his aspirations, we can see him break. we can see him accept that selfishness in the way he talks to her, how he trembles in anger and his blank stare, beautiful acting.
It's expensive because it's special. It's difficult to get those ingredients. With Diamonds is the other way around, they are special because they are expensive because now is not that difficult to get them but need a high price to keep their value
Caviar is expensive because its special in that the Caviar Fish Eggs are very difficult to acquire being from Rare Fish, Also Paul is half right Taste is as much a Class thing as it is a Cultural thing, Caviar is a very Expensive dish but its mainly eaten by Eastern Europeans who historically ate and made the dish, Culture, class and Personal preferences really colide to make people like a dish or not
This entire film did basically everything right. The music, acting, casting, story, messages sent to the poor and wealthy, the darker aesthetic, and overall development. It’s just a masterpiece.
Beautifully presented! The name “hunger” doesn’t necessarily mean starvation, but also the lust from desires that will never be filled. This applies to those rich people, and Paul as well.
when i ate truffles the first time. It's a very overwhelming taste and for some reason restaurants think: more truffles = better food (it just makes it more expensive).
I’ll take salmon roe over caviar. And yeah, truffle is very pungent and disgusting. How come white peoples offended by durian, but licking truffle oil clean.
Powerful....the experience of hunger is not limited to physical hunger for food but can also be driven by a desire for material possessions and a sense of fulfillment that comes with acquiring them. While it is true that people living in poverty often struggle to obtain enough food to satisfy their basic needs, those who have greater access to resources may find themselves in a different kind of struggle. The desire for more, for better, or for the latest and greatest can become a source of insatiable hunger, leading to an endless cycle of consumption and dissatisfaction. Ultimately, it is important to recognize that true satisfaction and contentment cannot be achieved through material possessions alone. Cultivating meaningful relationships, finding purpose and meaning in one's work or hobbies, and practicing gratitude can all contribute to a sense of fulfillment that cannot be bought with money.
All Chef Paul's unusual behavior/ being a jerk made sense during this part, also I think this was the falling action of the plot. I'm just glad Aoy didn't end up like his mentor.

I wonder why chefs have to be that petty. They could be more chill Inspiring while keep that seriousness, I wonder what's the reason of that pettiness, or maybe there's no calming chefs that have their society since they always focus on foods, or maybe our mind focus about that kind of drama so much, It's ridiculous that our mind wonder about chefs those are petty, think again I don't think chefs don't have to be petty, it's just their personal personality something.
That's life dude you can be anything u want to be. If he decides to be a villain because people have done him wrong, so be it. It's not like he have killed anyone right?
The ingredient that tastes like just eating salt isn't what makes it expensive, but the process of making it. There are very few farms that raises Sturgeons and almost none of them are in the US.
As someone who has ate caviar before, it’s actually like crap. Btw, Caviar is just fish eggs. I would say I could taste the texture which is something similar to jelly and that’s about it. It doesn’t have any other description than that.
I watched this scene on tiktok before I watched the film, and I'm really glad i did. Such great insight to his motivation as a character and a person. Helped me decipher lots of the more layered scenes in the beginning, especially with how Chef Paul sees Aoy in his mind.
Today, caviar is still expensive because of national values and pride. Of course, even lobster is a working-class food. Once it was pleasing to the tastes of the upper class people, it changed.
When it comes to caviar, the major reason for its absurd cost is the rarity of the Sturgeon fish species that produce the egg roe used for it. They're endangered species due to the US, Canada, and Russia having overfished them for caviar to the point of critical endangerment.
