- Hello and welcome to Steel Picking! In this video, I show how to utilize the B and C pedals over a 1, 4, 5 progression at each chord for some very effective licks.

Thanks again Aaron, just when I thought I had made ground you introduced the BC pedals to the 1,4,5 chords, by adding the MINOR 7th adds more variations. Back to practicing and learning how to put in some songs. Awesome teaching.

This was HUGE. I love this stuff! Now I just need to figure out how to use that half stop leaver that lowers the second string. I'm glad that my guitar isn't the only one that makes the other pedals move when the c pedal is pressed. Thanks!
No problem Dave, glad you liked the lick. Yes I have been working on my pedal set up and still need to get a few bugs out. That is a problem when you have 6x4. Six knees and 4 pedals makes it crowded under the guitar and I need to do a little more tweaking. I love the Justice and its just a matter of me getting it set up. I got the guitar in a trade and changed every pedal and knee for my set up. Not a big deal just a matter of a little time to get it like I want it.

Very nice man.... the only thing I had been doing was 3,4,5 with B&C, release and play againg, 4,5,6 A&B pedals then release and play agin... this gives so much more flavor... thank you!

How about a study of the lever that lowers the "E's" a I/2 step. Every thing is real good. Thanks, Arnie
Great idea Gary, and we will keep it in mind. The E to Eb and E to F knee are the bread and butter pulls and a lesson on these would be good.

Great lesson as always Aaron...one question though. Is there a technique for releasing the C pedal while keeping the B pedal down and NOT engaging the LKL in the process? Trying to rock my foot from right to left always ends up in a collision with the LKL.
Fred, the best case would be the ability to adjust your knee lever. A lot of the guitars will have an allen screw that will do this. Loosen the screw and the knee should open out or get wider.The adj. screw should be on the underside close to the knee and body. You can also adjust the pedal height you might lower the C pedal just a little. If you are not sure about the knee adj. take a picture with your phone and send it to steelpicking@gmail.com and I will look it over.

@@SteelPicking Thanks Aaron! I tinkered with the adjustment screw on the LKL and it swung open and is now out of the way for the roll-off. Now if I can find the adjustment screw for my brain I might be able to put some of these great lessons to work! Thanks again for serving the PS community so graciously and well!
Would you play some useable up tempo single string riffs . Like Rocky top or wild wood flower.

I don't play steel guitar and I have been looking at these videos to see if I can understand what is involved ...I am planning to get a guitar soon so this is sort of pre-empting my practice..what I noticed was that you were talking about using the B+C pedals but you were pressing the 3rd and 4th pedals ...I was under the impression that B+C were pedals 2 and 3...can anyone enlighten me on this
Pickers are always tinkering with the pedals and knee levers. I have a zero pedal in the first pedal position. I am lowering 5,10 a whole tone B to A. I than have what I am calling A,B,C pedals. Gerry we have a video covering my equipment and guitar set up that might be interesting for you to check out.

Please comment on the violet light illuminating your feet. Do you have undercarriage lighting? Is LED fret lighting available as an after market addition to a pedal steel? Another question; Do you ever use the C pedal only? If so, how?
Donald, the light is from my Telonics FP-100D volume pedal. I know M.S.A is offering some lighting options on their guitars. The best place to find out would be to ask on the steel guitar fourm. You can try playing 9,65,4 open with the C pedal only this will give you a E7+9 chord. I would use this chord out of the key of A for a substitute for my 5 chord. In other words you could play A,D, E7+9 using this extended E for a regular E7 chord.

Donald you can also add the 8th string to that chord. So 9,8,6,5,4, with C only.
