Thanks for your lesson I get more out of your teaching than any one I have watched
Thank you very much, Floyd! Glad that the videos are helping!
Keep picking!
The efficiency of movement you show when blocking is a great tip. Toe, moving your hand as little as possible is the best route. Thanks as always
Thanks!
Keep picking, Aaron
More important logical picking info. Thanks Aaron.
No problem.
Thanks! Aaron
Hey Arron! Great stuff your teaching, love your playing, you teaching paths are good and easy to understand, it's nice when others take the time to tech others their craft, just wondering if it would be possible to have a few multi pivoting runs or contrary motions licks in the future, you do a great job, keep it up, all the best!
Harold, no problem I will put this on our request list and try to work something up.
Keep picking! Aaron
Hi, thank you for all your videos, I have learned how to play watching many of your videos. I still have a long way to go! Would you play and record the song Memory from Cats? I believe it would be beautiful on the pedal steel.
Can you cover the incorporation of the horizontal lever on the steel?
Yes, I actually cover the B to Bb pull (which is my horizontal lever) in this video: ua-cam.com/video/cQEtg4fggiQ/v-deo.html
Hope that helps and keep picking!
Aaron
Great stuff Aaron (as it usually is)!
A question for you, though. What is the type of thumb pick you are using? It looks like there is a narrow plectrum attached to a conventional wide yellow band around the thumb. I tried something similar once and liked it lots. Where can I get one of those?
Regards, Mark
Mark, we did a video entitled "What Picks Do I Use" that should help you out. I think some of the comments have suggestions on were to get these picks. Also go on the steel guitar fourm and search there and you should get some good info.
Keep Picking!
Aaron
Thanks Aaron. The advice on the metal fingerpicks in the video you recommended (“What picks do I use”) is most useful, however I was primarily interested in the thumb pick, and that video did not address the thumb pick. It looked somewhat like a ProPix thumb pick, but the band looked different. Anything you can tell me about that? Thanks again.
Mark, try Fred Kelly Delrin thumb picks. I believe you will be able to find them on line if you Goggle their name. Hope this helps. I have a few of each ie med, soft , hard.
It was tough trying to get the ring finger to play . I actually talked to Jeff Newman about it , and his reply was " God gave you that ring finger " SO USE IT " lol
Great advice from a great guy.
Keep picking!
Arron >>>thanks
I have listened to it; it is great and an advanced version. Maybe we can do a version to share in the future with some Carter nuances.
Keep picking!
Aaron
That's the way i play but with my thumb and ring finger , my index finger is cripled from an accident...
Thanks for the lesson ....
Ronnie, its all about what will work, and enjoying the journey. My dad had a friend who had gotten his left hand shot during WWII. He had a custom bar made that he basically clamped to his hand. He really inspired me to try harder and always try and be thankful for the gifts I have been blessed with.
Keep picking! Aaron
And I will never forget the gentleman I saw play a dobro with his feet because he had no arms. Makes me think every time I want to say, "I can't.........." JimE
So true.
Thanks for sharing. Aaron
What brand of thumb pic do you use
I think the pick I am using here is a JF pick. I have this video where I discuss picks if you're interested: ua-cam.com/video/PlWB75F1QoQ/v-deo.html
Keep picking!
