There have been some amazing reworks that turned some Ks into being better than what they had been for a long time... however you forgot one rework that changed a particular Killer forever
The one change I want for Trapper is for his traps to take a set amount of time to escape rather than chance, I’ve has many times where I couldn’t get to someone in time because they got off on the first attempt but there’s also situations where you get stuck until the sixth attempt which can also be quite annoying
They should definitely rework him to where traps don't automatically spawn on the map but for traps to have a cooldown of like 45 seconds maybe? It would stop trapper from losing his power entirely if survivors followed trapper and disarmed all of his traps.
Agreed, plus I dont understand why they gave him that in the first place. The guy throws knives, not shooting from a gun. Hell recoil would make sense on Slinger more thematically. Tho recoil in general is a bad idea
freddys gimmick of being completely invisible to survivors and pulling them into dream world was really cool. all they needed to do is to give him secondary power
1:18 for Azhy's Billy scream. 1. Seriously though, it sucks that it took three years for Billy to be restored to his former glory. And that the Twins rework didn't make it on this list in time due to it's delay. 2. On the positive side, I'm glad Slinger is still loved despite his nerfs and that Demo was treated nicely before being taken away. Unrelated, I always found it sad that Jonathan didn't get a unique voice until right before ST left. It would be great if he could receive a face rework like Claire did, or a better lobby animation at least. He and Claire definitely have solid voice performances though. 👌 Thank you if you read. ❤
Yeah Legion's original 2.7.0 rework was a series of now understood, unnecessary nerfs and updates. There were some good changes, but it was mostly horrible.
still waiting for Legion to be able to see pools of blood in frenzy back. they're in a state of blood-thirsty frenzy, they should be able to see blood.
Forgot to mention knight's guard orb rework! In his original state, survivors could always see the guard orb while you were summoning, and guards had a fixed and very slow time to begin a hunt. After the rework, whenever the orb had traveled 10 meters, it stopped being visible, and guards would start hunts significantly faster if their path was longer, making knight generally feel better to play since it made guards worth using outside of just plopping them down on loops and making the survivor leave :)
Freddy's rework made him stronger but it also killed him. It went from an extremely unique and accurate although weak power to a strong but generic, Clown 2.0, one with a teleport, boring to play as and against. Then they nerfed him into the ground, annihilating the only reason to ever pick him. Now he is the most worthless killer of all. People complain about the 2020 murder of Billy, but at least he was "playable" and the main way you played him remained, Freddy was completely removed from the game, and his entire power was changed. If you enjoyed him before, bad luck, he's gone, entirely. To me it, and the subsecuent changes, are the worst rework ever.
The Billy Overdrive Rework isn't only a really good rework but also the perfect example for the gaslighting of bhvr. They told us only Chainsaw Billy is a problem and gave him his Overheat mechanic so you get punished for using ur chainsaw too often. And now they even reward you for the same way to play as you got punished before? Makes sense to me. Anyways I'm looking forward to this because it seems Billy can finally get out of his deep hole and has another time to shine
The one Thing About Freddys add-on Rework is that when the Swing Chain add on series was becoming a problem, they did a Tone down patch that reduced action speed penalty applied to Survivors. However Bhvr still was being told the add-ons were still too powerful so instead of doing something like making so the Add-Ons slowdown penalty NOT Stack with one another but giving each jump rope series Add-on a unique quality that made running that Add-on with a another non-jump rope add on usable while keeping the Effect relatively the same, they made both Add-ons effect the noise level of Survivors in the DREAM world like walking noises and generator Repair noises, which at the time was Countered by perks like Technician to which made Generator repairs 8 meters quieter which countered the 8 meter increase of the green Jump rope, and Iron-will which had a bug that made walking noises SILENT, which then countered swing Chains completely.
When I was a baby killer back in 2020/21, I first mained Billy until the nerf. Then I mained Legion until the nerf. Then I graduated from baby killer college and now I own them all and play whoever I feel like. But not Billy or Legion. I hate to admit it but I actually have some genuine swf bully squad trauma.
Personally I'd add Pig's "Key rework" as a "good" one. Prior to it each trap had a pre-determined box containing the key making it incredibly RNG dependant and potentially more or less shutting down the whole power due to bad luck (it also allowed that cheese strat of spawning Survs with traps and body blocking a box which while unreliable wasn't fun to face). But now when the RBTs require x searches rather than finding the right box it feels far more reliable.
As a Sadako main, I've been fairly positive over the changes for her. The only complaint I'd have is that the Iri Tape addon is a joke now with other untouched addons still being quite bad. The Pig is getting tweaks in a few months so I'm hoping she actually gets buffed for once. After her RBTs are gone, she's just a bit of a mediocre stealth killer who needs addons to make her dash attack feel less sluggish. I've tried playing The Twins a bit, but they just seemed a bit boring as they currently are. Hopefully their update in April-June does them good like Billy.
Skull Merchant’s Lacklustre Rework (6.6.2) seems to have been an attempt to replicate Knight’s Patrol Path Buffs (6.5.0)! Both killers were given buffs to incentivise them to avoid the most criticised playstyles. (Dropping Guards on the spot in loops and Dropping Drones on Generators) Though Skull Merchant’s was obviously a failure, Knight’s was a success in my opinion!
I think you've forgotten about Wraith rework that happened at the same time as clown's one. It basically turned the worst killer in the game into a pretty decent reliable pick. (Scott Jund's seal of approval)
The problem with billy originally is that all you needed to do was just follow until you were right on the heels and there's the insta down and now he's back to how he was just faster?
Dont worry about it. Let them celebrate. Im sure they'll remember eventually why he dominated and why he was nerfed. Sometimes its best to let things play themselves out
You are aware that Billy is slowed down to 4m/s while charging his chainsaw, so "walking behind a survivor until he was right on their heels" is not actually a thing, right? Unless you mean he walked after them until he touched them and _then_ started charging his chainsaw, in which case he had to go through a lengthy charge up process and literally any window or pallet would completely screw him over, costing him a free hit he could have gotten and putting him in time-out until his chainsaw charge is depleted. If you run into a deadzone with a Billy behind you that allows for such a play from him, that is not the killer having an unfair power, that's entirely on you. Not to mention that this point is also completely unaffected by the initial nerf, so it wouldn't make much sense for you to bring it up here. The problematic part of Billy has always been his add ons (like the infamous insta-saw), his basekit was perfectly fine.
19:50 interesting note, Blight originally used to be hunched over way more. His low AF POV was intentional because his character had the ultimate hunchback of notre dame going on. When they raised the pov, they altered his character animations and how he was posed so he stands slightly taller. So he was originally supposed to be super short POV but they changed it due to backlash (good IMO)
this whole video is exactly why i stopped playing dead by daylight: "the killer was strong and people complained and now they are useless" its a 1v4 game!! the 1 should be good enough to deal with the 4!!!
I haven't played Dead by Daylight in a while. I played the first Sadako rework and honestly didn't care for it, but the new rework might actually get me back into the game!
I have a awosome suggestion for freddy. How about freddy starts the match invisable to everyone, unable to attack anyone and everyone is invisable to freddy, but he can see scratches. Exaclty like spirit. He then has the same area of effect blast ability dokter, but for him it causes survivers in his radius to fall asleep. This also happens when teleporting to gen's. He can still use his dreamsnares, but he get's a new ability in that asleep survivers can be insta downed. Maby it would be cool though to make dreamsnares not only slow down survivers, but the also do a single health state of damages, so a surviver that manages to hit 2 without healing goes down. Then keep the ability to wake up, so survivers can regain there invonerability and invisablty. It's bassicly like the clocking ability from wraith or sadako, but in reverse since you uncloak others, combined with a less effectif version of trapper his traps and a similair teleporting ability to dredges. That way survivers feel a need to keep them selfs awake during the match, cause they will be invisable and free from getting hit and freddy will feel unieke again in gameplay, cause the sleep effect now actuely does something.
Trickster's rework is a mixed bag. 1. BHVR made Trickster 4.6 m/s. Pretty good because it allows Trickster to play around some loops and traverse the map better. 2.Trickster now gets Main Event in 8 knives. Again pretty good change. 3. Trickster no longer has recoil. Good change because people on console can actually play him now. Now for the bad. 1. The rework was originally going to change his throwrate, but BHVR ended up not going through with it because it was too strong on the PTB I guess. Problem is he no longer has his ramping throw rate and as far as I'm aware it's not mentioned anywhere. So he actually throws knives slower normally and in Main Event than he did pre rework. 2. He now requires 8 lacerations to injure survivors. That's up from six pre rework I think? I remember the threshold being lower at least. Maybe not the MOST impactful change but it does cause you to lose out on downs you would have gotten pre rework. 3. Losing lacerations takes less time now. I think it's 12 seconds and the meter drops fast once those 12 seconds are up. Pretty damn impactful change because of the loss of knife throw speed and slowdown from pulling up knives. 3.Increase in terror radius but his lullaby wasn't removed. He cant use stealth perks well because you'll hear/ see his lullaby. He has trouble getting close to targets now because of this. 4. Pretty much all of his add-ons are mediocre now. I cant say all of them are bad but the only ones people are going to use now is Teauila Moonrock and the Burned Wires i think its called? The attack speed one. The Trickster rework was a huge nerf in disguise. I'm genuinely not surprised that not many people know this because not too many people play Trickster.
Amazing Rework: In Progress; Trickster anti-seizure rework. In which BHVR is attempting to stop Trickster's knives from triggering epileptic seizures in players
Ok, I am going to leave a hypothetical theory, so What if One day or (for a limit time) Survivors had their own unique abilities out side of their regular perks in the place of Items?
@@kimikothetanuki314 That would be a good idea. And their buffs differ from character to character, being stronger in certain actions, those that said character is strong in lore. Like Claudette having better healing and Meg being faster.
This is probably a strange question but I am strangely curious, what was the method you used to find the information for this video? I can't imagine actually having went through every DBD patch in the game just to see what reworks happened.
Hello, this is Behaviour! After careful inspection of this video, we have come to the conclusion to nerf the Pig. Thank you for your input and hard work!
Idk. I hate clown rework. Of course its fixed him a bit, but not enough to upgrade him from joke. And i hate yellow bottle, cause without addons it is useless. Whats the purpose to speedup yourself for miliseconds instead of slowing down survivours? Its literally tge same. Im still waiting for yellow bottle removing and his 1 bottle to have both effects. That would make everything much better.
I really want them to rework freddy again and rework bubba to be more enjoyable. I love these two horror icons and i want to play them, but im not going to cause they're terrible.
As a deathslinger main prior to his rework, I do have to say that I still feel a bit robbed seeing how bad the terror radius nerf is. I get longer ADS activation and deactivation, but I don't even use it that often, I prefer going in with perks like unrelenting and trying my darndest to play stealthily even now, which I can thankfully sometimes still do thanks to Tinkerer. Prior to the rework, I could sometimes surprise survivors, but nowadays they hear me coming from miles away and I can't really play like I used to, so it ends up too often to be games where I mostly lose precious time being distracted by one survivor on a loop where I can't exactly punish even with the ADS. And yes, let's not forget the addons that barely do anything, really. I get that it's fairer to survivors and yes, maybe it was needed, but I totes understand why many Deathslinger mains stopped playing him altogether as I nearly want to. A bit too harsh of a major nerf in my opinion.
Wait, when the Stranger Things content was no long able to be bought, they just straight up couldn't touch Demo anymore? Like, they couldn't even buff or nerf him? That sounds like it could have potentially been incredibly unhealthy for the game if Demo was overpowered at the time of "Unable to be touched."
They said they would continue support on their characters regardless. The reason Demo remained untouched was because he was in a pretty good spot already, not because they weren't allowed to change him.
I will never forget Billy’s rework patch notes💀 Basically what they said: Yah, Billy has a high learning curve but is rewarding and is fun to both play as and against Billy. Very balanced character. So here’s how we nerfed him into the floor!
Hot take, the 7.1.0 sadako rework is the best she ever was. She was one of my FAVORITE killers to face and was super fun to play, i was so sad when she got reworked again.
I don't think I agree with the Deathslinger "rework" being so high up. Balance aside, these changes fundamentally changed how the character is played. Prior to the changes he was a fast-paced, high skill and chase centered killer with ambush potential but very poor map coverage. The changes slowed him down significantly in chases, turning him from playing an active role into being passive most of the time, they made it impossible to land many higher skilled shots through small cracks or longer distances (maps being updated and Slinger losing a bunch of these small holes and cracks doesn't help here either) and they completely removed his ambush potential and he received nothing in return. Basically they looked at what made the Killer fun to play and removed all of it. Look, I don't care much about his add ons, I usually played him without any anyway. The .6 second cooldown after lowering ADS is also something I fully support, IMO you should not use the power to slowly zone someone away in the first place. If you enter ADS, it should be because you want to take the shot. I also get the ADS time increase from .1 to .4 seconds prior to a shot, from a balance perspective. Especially in modern day DbD a .1 second scope time would be too strong. Still, I believe he should have received a little something in return. This change in particular is what made him so much more passive in chases and removed many opportunities to take high skilled shots, so give him something that helps him play a more active role again- like not lowering my mouse sensitivity so drastically when in ADS for example, at least let me do flick shots! Lastly the TR increase from 24m to 32m is to this day one of the dumbest changes I have ever seen. Seriously, Slingert had to sacrifice at least 1 perk slot to even unlock this playstyle and usually one more for tracking purposes. All of that so he'd be able to punish survivors not paying attention to their surroundings, because anyone seeing the tall cowboy staring at them from an open field (where he'd need to be so he could actually reel you in) and lifting his gun should immediately start running and be prepared to dodge the incomming bullet, which is really not hard at this range. This change was made specifically to cater towards players who refused to pay attention to the game they were playing and that greatly annoys me. But it had another big impact on Slinger: since everyone now gets warned of his approach much earlier, prerunning is much stronger against him. This means Slingers gameplay devolved further into holding down W while (very) slowly catching up to the Survivor, who preran when they started hearing the TR approach, making him even more passive. I am one of the Slinger mains you mentioned who completely dropped the character after the changes. I hate seeing how slow and passive he has become. It feels depressing to pick this guy and playing him in his current state, knowing of all the fun I used to be able to have with him. I loved to take cool shots through tight gaps in map geometry, I loved surprising people who weren't paying attention and I loved how high paced and full of action he used to be. All of this is just gone now. He may look the same as before, he may sound the same as before, but he is a completely different killer now. And I think this is something many people, who didn't play him a lot prior to the update, don't even recognize.
as a former freddy main, he aint boring to me at all. I wasnt around when he had to manually pull survivors into the dream world though, if i was i wouldve probably never mained him.
I personally didn’t really care about most of these reworks, only ones I hated where the two reworks for skull merchant, the first one for onryo and the one for hag. Also I don’t know what to think about overdrive yet, but at the moment I kinda tend to not liking it as well, but we‘ll see how it will turn out.
Survivors used to be way stronger too. Healing used to take like 6 seconds, instant heal Med kits and even stuff like the New Moon Bouquet to make the map super dark. I’m sure playing old DbD for either side would be crazy now looking back.
I think the overheat rework just needed to be touched up because it was a really good concept where you either had to make a choice between traversal or downing (although it really didn't work out) and the replacement of overdrive is not great, rewarding putting pressure with more pressure. I think the base kit buffs and add-on upgrades would have been good. Billy really needs to be one of those killers that doesn't get rewarded for constant power usage because his power is also an instadown. (Also I don't particularly like the look of the blue flames but that's pure preference)
i 100% disagree with ghostfaces rework. It effectively killed ghostface, i used to main him and ever since that rework if youre up against a swf its a no brainer no k'er. The reveal mechanics are too easy so youd be hard pressed to do absolutely anything with his stealth now, especially if its an overly bright and open map. A stealth killer that isnt allowed to stealth? thats ghostface, a killer who is permanently locked out of his power? thats ghostface. Went from an A tier to a C tier with one update.

Amazing Rework:
In Progress; Trickster anti-seizure rework. In which BHVR is attempting to stop Trickster's knives from triggering epileptic seizures in players
Ok, I am going to leave a hypothetical theory, so What if One day or (for a limit time) Survivors had their own unique abilities
out side of their regular perks in the place of Items?
Could be interesting but it'd be a big gameplay shift for sure
I feel like it should instead be small buffs or abilities, something that will help a little bit, but not be a massive game changer.
@@kimikothetanuki314 That would be a good idea. And their buffs differ from character to character, being stronger in certain actions, those that said character is strong in lore. Like Claudette having better healing and Meg being faster.
Are we assuming that billy will stay the same at the real release? Trickster changed quite a bit from his ptb
Pre-3.4.0 Spirit.
So powerful and easy that even Nurse mains switched to her.
That hillbilly impression spot on 🙌🏽☝🏽
15:30 hopefully someday we'll see that happen.
1:29 did you have a person named zombieman forget the numbers kin you lobby?
For surfahark it kind of sucked that I needed to get 24 months if I wanted the extra 5 months, but I still got it for one month
Regarding the blight pov rework, was his model also shorter back then? Or is it just his poc height?
What about the rework where chucky could move
I like seeing ghostface but not seeing ghostface
Wait, when the Stranger Things content was no long able to be bought, they just straight up couldn't touch Demo anymore? Like, they couldn't even buff or nerf him? That sounds like it could have potentially been incredibly unhealthy for the game if Demo was overpowered at the time of "Unable to be touched."
They said they would continue support on their characters regardless.
The reason Demo remained untouched was because he was in a pretty good spot already, not because they weren't allowed to change him.
I will never forget Billy’s rework patch notes💀
Basically what they said: Yah, Billy has a high learning curve but is rewarding and is fun to both play as and against Billy.
And I think this is something many people, who didn't play him a lot prior to the update, don't even recognize.
aaaaaand the day of this vids release they announced they nerfed this new version of sadako into the ground
Were is the spirit rework and the latest nurse rework😆
The billy buff fixed him i think his now back to being good or great
Can your Billy scream be your new intro please?
😭
I'm with you clown is one I just do not use or like. And there is only like four killers I don't use regularly.
as a former freddy main, he aint boring to me at all. I wasnt around when he had to manually pull survivors into the dream world though, if i was i wouldve probably never mained him.
What about blights add on rework?
You forgot Spirit completely 😢
I personally didn’t really care about most of these reworks, only ones I hated where the two reworks for skull merchant, the first one for onryo and the one for hag. Also I don’t know what to think about overdrive yet, but at the moment I kinda tend to not liking it as well, but we‘ll see how it will turn out.
As a former Deathslinger main, that rework was brutal for me. Stopped playing him. Pls Behaviour atleast fix his leg and make him 4.6killer
What about first trickster rework?
the fact nurse used to be like 3 times as strong... how did this game survive this long lol
Survivors used to be way stronger too. Healing used to take like 6 seconds, instant heal Med kits and even stuff like the New Moon Bouquet to make the map super dark. I’m sure playing old DbD for either side would be crazy now looking back.
I love that Billy can camp again 🤪
Ghost face needs to be nerfed by reverting his reveal to the ptb where it was at first sight
Sadako’s stack rework is pretty much outdated since they gave her an unnecessary nerf :(
Blight had what Chuckys pov should have been💀
I still love Chucky tho
No spirit rework?
Didn’t wraith have a rework?
God i miss the old freddy
As a clown main, I can totally understand.
Hag’s rework is the best because of the story behind it.
Hate the new Billy. His power is way too forgiving. If he misses his chainsaw he can just Rev it again before you make it anywhere
What you said about blight is simply not true, he was top tier even before the height
Wait you live in the uk
I think the overheat rework just needed to be touched up because it was a really good concept where you either had to make a choice between traversal or downing (although it really didn't work out) and the replacement of overdrive is not great, rewarding putting pressure with more pressure. I think the base kit buffs and add-on upgrades would have been good. Billy really needs to be one of those killers that doesn't get rewarded for constant power usage because his power is also an instadown.
(Also I don't particularly like the look of the blue flames but that's pure preference)
Im not going lie skull merchant news rework is still terrible they didnt fix her issues at all she just needs an entirely new power
This is why he’s the goat, my DBD goat man, keep up the good work chief
Sadako's 7.5.0 rework after some fixes is not good anymore
i 100% disagree with ghostfaces rework.
Went from an A tier to a C tier with one update.
we need light born back nerfed for wraith only tho but by a little
Knight rework we need
“The rework sucked Billy dry.” No, that was me, sorry 😏
BRO DOESNT MISS!!!!
