- This is the Tesla Cybertruck exoskeleton structure. It is one of the few SUVs integrated with a monocoque structure, unlike the Ford F 150, which uses a ladder-on-frame chassis with advantages and disadvantages while making tight turns.
The Cybertruck can also be equipped with several variants, including a single motor, dual motor, tri-motor, and all-wheel-drive motor.
Some refer to this configuration as a quad-motor setup.
This capability allows it to toe up to 4 cars, making it a strong competitor in its target market segment, with the likes of the powerful ram Fifteen hundred towing capability, or its EV rival the Rivyan Electric Truck.

What makes the Cybertruck special?
Well, the Cybertruck features an exoskeleton frame, one of the very few SUVs that have a unibody design,
While most SUVs have a ladder frame chassis, as shown in this animation.
Ladder frame chassis designs tend to be heavier than monocoque or unibody structures,
which can have a negative impact on fuel efficiency and handling when traveling at high speed or making sharp turns around the corner.

For utility vehicles ladder frame is an advantage, but not a disadvantage.
Same as for military trucks for example. Ladder frame means durability and long term of service. While "built in" or "integrated" frame will last only as long as car's body itself.
That's why there are so few unibody cars on the road. They're cheaper to buy but get totalled in a collision because instead of replacing the damaged body panels you need to spend serious money straightening the body to make it drive right.

Yep. And straightening the body is not only costly thing to do, but also it does not restore car's durability. Once bend, it always will be bending at the same spot. No structural rigidness anymore. That is why all off-road vehicles have classic ladder frames

@ghost307 here is the thing, the frame on a cybertruck is very strong, any collision strong enough to bend the frame beyond repair will total a regular truck anyways but you also have to consider what you care more about, safety, or a repair bill
@n.b.380 if you hit the truck hard enough to bend its casted frame then the same collision will total a regular truck. But you have to think about what you value more, safety or repair cost. The truck is offroaf because it has precision traction control no regular differential can match. The vehicle doesn't waste energy idling or spinning out and you can recharge it with either a solar panel or a portable generator if your that worried.

@@Aitellyalso in my profession as a dialysis technician I would like to note that those motors are not any more sophisticated than the motors I use for water moving as they have nearly the exact same design.- only difference being we use two magnets instead of three as it is much more cost effective.
This reminds me of the video where the cyber truck required a wooden ramp in order to make it over the curb of a sidewalk.
I got into an argument with Marc Benton I believe, a fanatic over this aspect and he claimed that it could apparently crush the curb.
This is wholy false.
Let me also remind you guys of my former position as a repair tech within Tesla.

Ladder frame = more durable, better load carrying, customizable rear tray for different use cases. Reason all work oriented trucks use them.

Reminds me of a project in CAD/CAM class where we had to design a vehicle with the lowest drag-coefficient alongside the overall best performance... cornering included.... in the end... i swear it looked EXACTLY like this hideous beast.

How resilient is the Cybertruck? Pick-ups should take quite a bit of punishment to the undercarriage from all types of roads to no road at all. It's part of the implied job description of a pick-up.

No one in EV market is using dual clutch gearbox.
It can reduce constant energy consumption (with big motors),
Plus provide (real) rolling momentum.
Ladder chassis is required for rigidity and strength, when towing heavy loads.
Monocoque will fold, flex and bend due to different forces acting upon it- torsion, shear and stretch.
I'm curious to see if cybertruck can withstand these forces for long duration of time.

The Tesla Cybertruck is absolute crap and useless for off road purposes, I have an old Mercedes G-Class, off road and military experience in the army, i don't understand how the hell people are buying this very ugly crap brick copied from Aston Martin Bulldog prototype of the 1980's; let's see there's no place to attach additional lights in the top, there's no place for infra red led lights, there's no place to put the winch, there's no place to install a reinforced bumper, and when the car is covered with mud or ice you will be looking for the door handles or breaking nails, if there's a collision with a tree for example, the tree will hit you right in your face inside the car because of this stupid and ridiculous shape design, the point above of protection that has a purpose of security shield is behind your seat, if the truck rolls over passengers have the serious risk of being spit out the car and be seriously hurt, the maintenance of stainless steel finish is very hard and extremely difficult to do, this a the kind job that hotel employees for example most hate to do in exterior of the elevators and in the kitchens, and the interior is so poor and so empty for what?, why so much empty space to stare at? but Tesla Cybertruck probably will have Disney Plus to watch when stuck in the middle of the jungle because didn't have the absolutely essential equipment and fart mode to call for help
