Vocal Coach Reacts! Floor Jansen! Shallow! Live!
Beside that Floor is a phenomenal singer, she is also a phenomenal storyteller who is capable to bring lyrics to life, not only with her voice but with her whole presence on stage.
Your sense of humor is great. There is only one Floor. She is amazing. In an interview for the new album she said there was one song that Tuomas challenged her. She said it took one month to get the music down with the words in the right places. Then she took it home for a month to get to know the song and where to put the emotions into it. I could listen to her all day everyday. Thank you for doing these videos. The way you explain what she is doing makes it great for us lay people to understand.
Take care of yourself and stay safe..............
I believe the song Floor was tested on the most , is shoemaker .
@@swatan1 Thanks for the info........ :-) Stay safe.
Ann Waychoff You stay safe too.
Thinking of you and hoping you are and, will remain safe dear Ann :-)
@@fdsannie Yes , stay also safe Ann..that virus is terrible..:(
Nobody compares to FLOOR JANSEN👌🏻
For as long as it lasts, Floor Jansen, is the best in the world.
The maternal part is correct, the lady, Emma, on the couch, red dress, was the subject of that weeks show. That was the reason why both times she sang she. Like a mother speaking to the daughter. Almost remembering what she did in her own youth. Basically the mistakes made by parents, ah well, old guy remembering stuff.
I hadn't thought about that perspective, but I completely agree.
For me, this performance was the highlight of the entire show, even Floor performed flawlessly in all the episodes ... but every time I listen to it, I have tears in my eyes. As you noticed, she has alternately added maternal gentleness and pure brilliance, a unique combination that melts any heart.
Each successive performance was a highlight for me, I appreciate all of them from all the vocalists. Some performances I didn't like as much as others but they are all at least 'good'. Floor and Henk wound up as my favorite performers for this season. Emma was third place. Of course since Floor not only opened the show at the beginning of the season (raised the bar REALLY HIGH right out the gate) AND got to close the season as well, then Phantom Of The Opera is the highlight of all the highlights for me. HOW could anybody argue with Henk's Phantom if Andrew Lloyd Webber himself preferred Henk in the role above anybody else? AND THEN, Floor was MAGNIFICENT! And NOT just because it was the very last thing I saw and heard for the season, more fresh in my mind than all the rest. That song is just truly amazing and Floor and Henk NAILED it!
Sorry for the wall of text.
@@jamescurfman3284 Npb, I totally relate to you. All her performances in the show were top level. In my mind I saw her as a well trained fighter with combat zone experience (decades, in the Metal world..) coming home in a leave, among the other "normal" singers. She surpassed others expectations in every single performance. But this one unexpected crushed my heart..
To me it is a toss up between this one and duet Vivo Per Lei - Emma and Henk
How can someone sound so strong and vulnerable at the same time.
Floor Jansen.
Isn't vulnerability the key to true strength?
@@veronicaue180 True, and Floor demonstrates that time and time again.
@@xtravagentk1275 Yes, she does.
Sheer perfection is right! Her cover went to #1 on Holland's charts and rightfully so.
I've heard Floor sing this song many, many times now, and I STILL get goosebumps every dang time!
She sang most of this like a lullaby.
Henk's look towards the end - absolute professional respect, with added "You go, girl!" 👏💯
Floor is not only a fantastic singer, supremely talented and technically proficient, but also uniquely emotive.
I love how Floor can make any song hers. Often people forget she can do more than sing very very VERY well. She also writes lyrics and she's a composer.
I love how even when Floor belts it out and sings more intensely, there's still a gentle quality to it.
She kept it small on purpose, although she herself admitted to having a difficult time of keeping it small. :)
@@jamescurfman3284 In an Interview she said the band behind her proposed it to keep it small
@@corneliusantonius3108 Yes and in the comments section of Avrotros original video, Floor posted that she struggled keeping it small. It is still AWESOME! It was a GREAT idea to change the song up like they did, even if it was hard for her. :)
Truly the most beautiful version of this song and she does it so effortlessly. I have seen videos of lady gaga doing it and it always looks like it's such hard work!
you really need to listen to her interview saying she used 2 months just to find how she would tell the stories... man... it is another level
only 3 female singers have ever made me cry , judy garland, karen carpenter and floor , yes shes that good
Try Canadian Ann Mortifee, songs like The Moonlight, Baptism, Gypsy Born and others. ua-cam.com/video/VLLzXAMF9yY/v-deo.html
Also Eva Cassidy, RIP, Fields of Gold and Over the Rainbow probably my favorites.
ua-cam.com/video/9UVjjcOUJLE/v-deo.html
Floor Jansen of course, but for me, also P!nk (for her songwriting and character) and Amy Lee
Floor did a crowd funding to digitally record her solo show, thats its, amazing, with this songs and others that she wrote. She is going to release it only in digital platforms. Unfortunatelly the show was postponned due to Covid out break. Curious note she achieved the goal in 3 hours... Lol
Are you also one of the contributors? It was fun to watch the money increase so fast. I think I will contribute to new Dark Sarah album as well.
See how majestic our Queen is there. You are absolutely right! This is a perfect performance. This is the original for me from now on. The emotion, the textures and the the brilliant control of her voice! This is far from shallow. Thank You our man of the mugs!
This softer, eerie, breathy way of singing kills me all the time, this Lady is amazing and you are so so adorable 😊
There is at least one more song from this show you are just going to love (apart from Floors performances obviously). That is the cover of Vivo Per Lei by Henk and Emma in the last show. Henk is a good as ever but Emma really grew above herself in that one. In fact the whole final show with all the duets was just totally epic, with a thunderous (literally!) finale. Oh, and there was also a second version of Shallow, this time with Floor and Tim Akkerman.
Yes. There was also a stunning Vivo by Laura Macri and Chiara Tricarico (Italian metal vocalists) that is wonderful.
I first heard Floor singing Monolith of Doubt with After Forever way back in the day. The number one thing that always stood out to me about her was the the dynamic range of emotions she can convey. She is the master of making you feel what the song wants you to feel.
Absoluut she sing het all, so good, epic great voice. Butyfol
Bye bye from the Nederland /Holland 🤟🤟
Even you hav Floorgasme😄😄😄👍👍🥰
Some people sing
Some people sing from the heart
Floor sings with her soul
More Floor! Awesome!
Just months ago I saw you needing to compose yourself after your first exposure to Floor in Ghost Love Score. I still remember you humming to yourself "this lady, I don't know her name but she's incredible......I've just said incredible again" :-) . And a couple of months later, completely different approach and style I can see that she is still able to distract from the technique and just baffle you (if that's the correct term). :-) Thanks. Ken Tamplin commented "It is hard to put in that much technique and not make it look like you're showing off" and you just show what it does to you. :-)
Rarely have I clicked so fast! Great reaction!
When Floor is sitting on the couch you should listen to the songs that Henk, Samantha and Emma perform for her!
Emma's "Strong" especially
I enjoyed Floor singing and you reacting! 💕🤟
She always leaves me the same as the guy wiping tears out of my eyes and I don't know why.....She is touched by a higher power.
I love the part at 9:16 where she puts a little bit of rasp in the word. It's very subtle but it gives more emotion.
Floor 🤩
Floor understands subtlety and ambiance. She's the furthest thing from a mindless screaming banshee. She knows better than 'IT HAS TO BE LOUD OR IT ISN'T GOOD!!!' Poor Ruben, sitting there asking himself 'Why am I even in this show?' Floor is SO MUCH BETTER than almost everybody there! But of course, Floor herself would never think such a thing (let alone say as much), being the sweet humble beautiful soul that she is. There's just SO MUCH to LOVE about the Metal Goddess! :)
Yeah, Ruben's reaction was quite something. I love watching both his and Rolf reactions on Floor songs !
Loved your ending, it was not stupid. You have a really smooth and soothing voice btw. I didnt much care about Lady Gagas version of this when I first heard it but I love this version of it.
She is the master of telling a story instead of just sing some words.
I really like the way she sings it because it almost sounds angelic.
It's "Auntie" Floor giving advice to young upcomer Emma. Every song Floor sings on the show is a master class in singing.
Excellent reaction. You know what you’re talking about.
Great reaction .thumbs up 👍 ...I think this is the third time I've watch you do this one .
I saw in an interview that Floor practiced both a "soft" and a "forceful" version of Shallow with the band, and she decided to perform the soft version.
James Allen with Tim Akkerman se did the other version
Brilliant performance and reaction
The Floormula 🤣
YES! Well done! :D
That's one floor you don't walk all over. Top Floor!
@@ChrisPage68 Our Floor always really shines!
she plays to peoples emotions!
It takes a lot to tire those arms, did you see the size of them.
She was singing the song to Emma Heesters, the young blonde girl in the sparkly red top. (who you should also check out as her voice is beautiful) That's why she changed it from "tell me something boy" to girl.
yep. later on she sings it with tim and then she sings it right
I bet she can bench press 300 lbs
This is the primary thing I love about Nightwish and Floor, it is not about can I play this incredible guitar solo showing my technical prowess or can I belt this phrase in the 6th octave showing my vocal power, it is what does the song need, how can I best convey the emotion. They have no artistic egos, they just care about the music.
Doesn't matter how many times i listen to this...goosebumps every time! 🤘
get well soon Floor
When you're done with Beste Zangers, I think you'd love checking out some of the Buenos Aires 2018 show from Nightwish. Floor applies a lot more of her "touch" to the songs in that show than she might have in Wacken. Sounds quite different and very unique.
There is also Shallow with Tim from duo episode
I've been waiting on this one. I love the original - it was done in a way to fit the movie and is brilliant - but this version is my favorite. The way Floor and the band worked together to create all these nuanced performances is wonderful. I enjoy your reactions. For your outros, you could always have set lyrics and then you can focus on a semi-spur-of-the-moment interpretation to fit the review.
I'm certain that Heavens Choir was diminished when Floor came down here to sing for us. I'm so glad she has. We are all so thankful that she shares her gift and her light with us.
The God Of Metal had two kids, Eric Adams and Floor Jansen, they had two kids, Dimash Kudaibergen and Diana Ankundinova, their granfathers were Matt Barlow and Ronnie James
what brings me to my recommendation
Manowar - Achille, Agony And Extacy In Eight Parts (best song ever made for me)
Iced Earth - Dante's Inferno (live with Matt Barlow)
Yes to all of that!!
Nice opening run, dude! If I lived in Glasgow still I'd love to be taking lessons with you.
Really enjoying reactions, another performance by floor on this show was Winner... and its floor... so you know😁
Hahaha! Another awesome react my friend! Killer outro:0. Floor is sick, so send some healing mojo her way...everyone
She sang girl both times, because she is singing this song for and to Emma Heesters. Floor is simply amazing. We all wish this show would never end. When you finish with Floor's performances on Beste Zangers, don't forget to check out Emma & Henk singing "Vivo Per Lei", it is beautifully done. Great reaction again SS-T! Love your insight and analysis. It is spot on as usual. Stay safe and see you next time.
I would've been turned into a puddle of goo if Floor had sung this to me. Wow.
You are so brilliant an 'on point' in your comment ! New subscriber here !
What I think is interesting is how YOU have grown since listening to that first Nightwish song. Maybe you should do a reaction to it again and compare from all that you have learned about her and them since then. :-)
My subscription to your channel brought me into this masterpiece, I owe you a big thanks. I gotta have this on my phone. Thanks a bunch. Keep safe, take care always.
Henk had to turn away from the beauty of the moment.....in awe.
Oke, that's settled. Another song owned by Floor. Must be frustrating if she takes your song 😂. And it happens to everyone. You said true words. She not only sings very well. She performs well. Tender gestures, subtle moves if the song requires it. Strong moves if necessary. But always with an unparelleld grace that makes her gorgious and grabs your attention. The moment she "enters" the stage you are totally hooked on her. She grabs your attention and put a positive spell on you. Literally the clock stops ticking away. Doesn't matter if a song has a duration of 20 minutes ( the greatest show on earth, Nightwish), time stands still. It seems 10 seconds..... A real angel has fallen upon us.....Oke, I agree, slightly over the top. But still.....I listen to her songs thousands of time ( I am working my way through all the reaction video's out there😂), and the amazing thing is I keep getting tears and goosebumps..... That's not human. I come from a totally different corner of music, jazzrock. Was there for 40 years. And this lady managed to lure me into her cobweb. How I love it.
9:48 Henk falls in love
Great reaction, your'e so very knowledgeable.. Love watching you !
Yes! Perfection!🙌❤ I can't wait for the next one!
I hope you are feeling better with the back pain and that you and your family are safe!
The band asked, can we keep it smal
Shell said yes.
Maternal=sage, warm and wise yes indeed, i get same vibe...
A mother giving her son/daughter good advice...
She is singing to Emma, a girl, & has said she is quite a bit older, wondering what they had in common, which of course they became friends, & think she did want to approach it in a more maternal, or as an older friend.
Floor owns “Shallow” now. I love this but love her duet better, as she is even better interacting with another singer in some way.
Floor doesn't have a vocal toolbox. Nor does she have a toolshed. She's got a fully stocked vocal workshop ☺️
Oh, I just can't wait till you react to episode #8, duet episode. She sings 'Phantom of the Opera' with Henk Poort, the official Phantom of the Netherlands.
Listen to Floor Jansen's new cover from Lara Fabian Adagio, it's phenomenal.
Thanks for another Floor's technique explanation, Sam. Awesome, interesting and educational as always. Please, could u be so kind to check (if still not) vocals of Haley Reinheart? Im sure there is pretty much vocal's "meat" to be explained. Thank you again.
Floor has said she has to study the song to put the emotion to it,or its just notes and words.
Do on Daily Motion, look up DeniseHofs. She has subbed some of the episodes in English.
Actually, she subbed ALL episodes. Some episodes are in DailyMotion because the tv station flagged some episodes from copyright. Rest episodes are in Denise Hofs' channel. Or they were after a week or two after the episode was aired.
@@monksuu they were all up on Daily Motion at one point, after youtube blocked them for copyright.
or, try ua-cam.com/users/jenniezelfvideos Not full episodes, but have individual song discussions.
Sure it has been mentioned, but the duet with Tim Akkerman she did with this song...can't recommend it enough. It really does benefit being a duet.
PLEASE listen to Nightwish's Ghost Love Score - Live at Wacken 2013. She was AMAZING there, everybody remembers that floorgasm.
Think he all ready did...
Gratulations from Nightwish army - no matter who You hear and who's voice You go throught... We visit here to support and if some wannabe wants to put u down: if someone can't accept opinion difference...

Can you please now watch the other amazing artists who have performed on that season?
We were all gutted when this show ended. Luckily for us she’s doing a solo tour (featuring Henk Poort) and putting out a live release of it. Of course, it’s been postponed for obvious reasons. But one day you’ll get to react to all those performances too.
GOAT
Please tell me, is it mandatory for reactors to drink while listening to a song?? I see it in almost every reactionvideo. Btw great reaction.
❤
Hi. I just wanted to say that Floor is sick with a virus don't know which one. Floor is amazing on the show and I like the intimate setting.
love your vids. have you by chance watched the full episodes?
Yea Floor takes her time to learn a song.. except that one time she had to learn a whole set list in 48 hours.
Floor is a lot better than Lady Gaga, I love Floor❤
Could you imagine Floor sitting right in front of you singing directly to you!?! I’d be a fucking puddle.
Hi something you might like to check out Maria fiselier lose yourself beste zangers 2018 she's an opera singer doing rap
Really love this version of the song.
Interested in more Floor?
Planet Rock uploaded a few days ago a beautiful accoustic version of the Nightwish song 'Nemo' with Floor and Troy: ua-cam.com/video/FC7HYfc5y0A/v-deo.html
i think she is the best female vocalist onearth ever, but what do you think?
Lady GaGa is a very good singer, writes wonderful song and absolutely deserves all the fame she has achieved, but Floor just did a masterclass on how to sing this song that GaGa could learn from.
Hi coach! I wanna see you to react kpop again ehehe 😍
So, please react Super Junior K.R.Y Phonograph in Seoul - Dorothy. Thankyou, hv a great day!
Have you seen VoicePlay's Moana medley featuring Rachel Potter? There's some acapella for you.
Hmmm, Floor was excellent, as usual :-)
More of the show 'Beste Zangers': in the 2018 edition of this show also starts a great talent: Davina Michelle. Pink just loved her cover of 'What about us' and she decided that Davina had to be her supporting act in The Netherlands.

I think you will like her too. Thanks for the excellent reaction (again), we all love Floor ;-)
Thought you initially said...
"Floor...Absolute Sex"...
WHAT??...Then heard "episode six?"...lol.😎
Guess we each hear what we want...Nice review! 😊
Ha. I heard that too .. then remembered he's a Scot .. I have Cameroons, Campbells, Grants and Fraziers in my ancestry but that is waaaay back so ... "I dinna ken .."
what? the Scot,,Ish accent?
Very diverse indeed........
I think Floor wrecked Ruben during this entire show.
Winner,same show
