I don't use the BGH1 as much anymore, but from what I remember, the BGH1 had been the best low light sensor m4/3rds camera I've ever used. I think it's still cleaner in low light than the GH6 and GH7, but when it comes to dynamic range, the GH7 has the edge over the BGH1, especially if you shoot in ProRes RAW. If you use identical codecs, between the BGH1 and GH6/GH7, you might not notice a huge difference in dynamic range.
@@VideoGizmology would you recommend picking up a gh7 over bgh1 for a dedicated camera on sticks and interviews? I have a pair of g9ii cameras and want a 3rd camera that I can use for back of the room wide or tight shots during conferences and it would live on sticks. It would also be used to gather testimonials during conferences. I own a bs1h so I’m comfortable with rigging and form factor.
For just interviews and wide shots and you don't have issues with rigging? Yes, the BGH1 might be better for that, but only if it's significantly cheaper. For example, if I found a used BGH1 for $1,100 or less, I'll get that over the GH7.
Hi. I'll filming surfing with a gh5. Great results.... but only in MF because Gh5 AF is ... impossible. Is GH7 AF good for sports filming? At long distance, should i take the gh7 because it is very capable to help me focusing surfers ? Or could i go to a second hand gh6 for 800€ because I won't really see a difference in that purpose?
The GH7 has much better autofocus than the GH5, but I personally wouldn't film surfing with a mirrorless camera. I would use a camcorder, like a Panasonic X1500 or HC-X2 or the new Sony Z200. A camcorder with a long zoom range.
I shoot live theatre, concerts and dance shows. I have a GH6 and the auto focus works really well if I use the focus limiter. The focus limiter adds to setup time so I am tempted to get the GH7.
If you are using Lumix lenses, the GH7 has been better in autofocus than the GH6 using the same lenses. At least it has been for me after filming a short documentary with it. I used autofocus for some of my interviews and b-roll and for the most part, the GH7 autofocus was reliable enough. I usually never use autofocus for sit down interviews, but I wanted to see if the GH7 could handle it and it did in good lighting conditions. Having said that, if you are fine with your GH6 and you are on a budget, just keep the GH6. Only get the GH7 if you have money to burn. It's really not that great of an upgrade unless you desperately need autofocus or internal ProRes RAW or buy the XLR 2 adapter and use 32bit audio.
GH7 has also solved streaking problem. GH6 is unusable in most cases with VLOG with low iso due to this streaking. Total garbage. Tried it several times and you never know when it will hit sensor. Yes, it is minimal with iso 800 but should I really shoot iso that high on bright day? :D GH7 has lower limit for DR boost with Vlog than GH6. I love my GH6 for color and ISO but man..... this one glitch drives me nuts
You know that shooting on higher ISO in the daytime is better right? Higher ISO shifts more of the dynamic range into the highlights, capturing more detail on a bright day
I absolutely love the GH6 there is just something special about the color science in this thing. I use vintage and MF lenses mainly and only have 1 M43 AF lens the 12-60 kit lens. Mostly using the Sirui 35mm anamorphic atm. The GH6 is insanely good. Only thing that would be a nice addon is realtime luts cmon lumix you can do it update that fw 😂

"You can get an Arri-Lut and shoot in Arri-Log" you got that backwards! "You can't buy that and put it in GH6, it will only go in the GH7 for some reason" That is not true and have been known for some time now! "I haven't noticed a big difference in dynamic range" Well, there is! The GH7 out preform the GH6 and the Arri Log C3 will not effect the dynau range at all! What you could do better; Do your research!, Explain how you execute your format-tests, give some love and attention to the art and light of your top shot & calm down! ✌️

For Video I use only manual focus with olympus pro lenses !

GH7 has more stabilization feature. Yo forget that :)
In my personal tests, the stabilization wasn't that great of a difference between the GH6 and GH7. This is just my experience.
