I would add: " Just because there is a beach, it doesn't mean you can swim in it." Some people spot a sandy beach next to the road as they are driving, and decide to take a swim in it. You could get sucked in by the current and drown. Also be careful where you explore. There are very jungly areas in the islands and you can easily get lost if you lose your orientation.
Agree on the “get on island time” tip. First time in the Caribbean and we went to St Croix. Landed at the airport and went straight to the grocery. Was losing my mind on how slow people were moving and realized I needed to chill out. Also, sunscreen is soooooo necessary!

Pretty everything you have said in this video is true. I have been to Haiti, Jamaica, and Cozumel and the cultures in those places are all so different from each other. Thankfully, I did not become a purple tourist while visiting those places because I applied and reapplied like crazy. My skin is as pale AF so I _really_ have to load up on the sunblock. I went zip-lining in Haiti, water-rafting in Jamaica, and checking out Mayan ruins and going to the beach in Cozumel. Out of all of those places, I would say that Cozumel was my favorite Caribbean island to visit, though it's technically part of Mexico. The beach there is absolutely gorgeous with its bright aqua blue water and white sand.

My husband and I think that Aruba is the most calm place to swim and if you want to see beautiful sunsets and beautiful sunrises every single day with the nicest wonderful most beautiful people in the world that just make you feel like you’re at peace and swim it is just worth it don’t you swim in the pool Aruba is amazing there’s no really tourist sites to see we did try to see to the museums and they were closed 2018 again I cannot stress enough how Wonderful it is to be in the Waters versus some parts of Mexico that are really rough and difficult to Swimmin

You’re so amazing you’re always so positive that is a very good point what you said about just take it easy when you’re trying to get seated and you’re just waiting for a menu where you wanna order just slow things down and enjoy the view of the ocean and the island breezes we need that everybody needs that slower downtime
We visited the Cayman Islands and then Mexico. As different as night and day. In the islands we weren't pestered hardly at all by people selling trinkets, and the locals were friendly and helpful. In Mexico all they wanted was to part you from your money. Plus our tour bus was like a horror thrill ride, white-knuckled the whole way due to close calls with other vehicles. If I go back I'll definitely confine my wanderings to just the islands.

Great advice. All of the islands ARE different. A good example are the ABC Islands. If you want gambling and more of a US feel - go to Aruba. If you just want to have a great dive vacation - go to Bonaire. If you want diving and a little of everything else without the US feel- Curacao!
I'm not so sure about the US feel in Aruba.. I wouldn't say that's really accurate. I did find however that Puerto Rico reminded me a lot of some places in Florida though. Aruba is beautiful but for its own reasons.

On a bus you have a build for 30 people, but on a car you have one, the guide to passenger ratio is way higher in a private tour, therefore more money. I guess if you have two couples, it makes more sense.

Wolter, if you want to lose weight without the hassle, try intermittent fasting. E.g. on Mondays and Thursdays you do not eat for 24 hours, just water, some tea perhaps. Outside those days, eat what you like. If you also restrain your eating to an 8 hour time span on the other days, your figure will change dramatically in the direction of your wife's, which, from all we can see, is pretty perfect. You will find that you need not eat three or five times a day, as most Western people do. And then, try to get into fruit and vegetables and slow down on the carbs. But still you can eat anything you like. I myself avoid as much as I can stuff that is bad for my blood type but as many people have no clue what their blood type is (whites: either 0 or A, 90% chance), it is talking to a wall. Eating for your blood type will do away with the stress (tensions) that you feel in your body during and after eating. E.g. coffee is bad for 0 and good for A. That is an easy test. Try it sometime, it is fun and will lower your stress levels considerably, for stress need not be a mental thing.
Just a heads up. BRING CASH !!! At least 150-300 bucks in smaller bills.Do your research and call your bank before you head out here. Because certain banks may have a block against certain countries when it comes to ATM Withdrawals. I learned the hard way in Jamaica.

I'm planning a family trip for next Spring and want to visit 3-4 different islands without the constraints of a cruise, but I don't have a billionaires budget. Are there small tour companies that will take you from island to island at a fair price?
That arch of dirt & sand on the Aruban beach is no longer standing. It collapsed the year after we saw it. Probably too many tourists on it caused its demise.

One artist came up to me and my gf while we were at the outside seating of a restaurant, showed us a picture he made. Hey man, thanks but no thanks. Then he showed us the next picture in his book, and then the next and the next, etc. Another tout, again at a restaurant, cussed at me in Spanish (called me a maricón) when I refused to buy his stuff. Not even under his breath, like he shouted at me and was angry.

I doubt he was legit angry. Just trying to get you to feel sympathy...or annoy you to the point where you just give in. They're smart enough to realize not every tourist has a lot of money on their hands. Especially in a country like Colombia people don't go carrying around lots of cash. I'm from the DR and have been going there since I was a kid, punta Cana has one of the best resorts in the country, great beaches/food and the people are friendly and don't mind helping. If you decide to go out at night 1) go with other people 2) pay attention to your belongings *if you decide to also visit the capital you should definitely visit the "colonial zone" there are many great restaurants there
'BEWARE OF SHARKS' should have topped your list, especially after the 2019 shark attack that cost rhe life of a 21-year-old girl. Major omission in my book.
DON'T TAKE TOURS FROM CRUISE SHIPS...OVER PRICED AND THEY don't deliver what they promise. We paid $500 for two people for a 6.5 hour tour and got a 5 hour tour. Experienced travelers told us to take all tours from the islanders and put our money into the communities where it will do the most good. I agree!!!
Char Horst that is high, but in over 25 cruises I mostly always take cruiseline tours and have 99% been pleased. Princess even guarantees that if you find the same tour elsewhere for cheaper, they will refund. Beware, if you take an independent tour and do not make it back to ship on time, the ship will leave without you. We were in Papeete and took a tour where the bus broke down, it was hours before they could get a replacement bus, we were over half hour late back, luckily it was a Princess tour and the ship waited.
As a person who resides on one of these islands... I would suggest that you all leave your narcissism and entitled attitudes behind... We are not your servants and are deserving of respect. 😌
If you're looking for Cuban cigars PLEASE remember the golden rule in the Caribbean and Mexico - EVERY SINGLE CUBAN CIGAR SOLD ON THE BEACH IS FAKE!! And they're bad fakes at that!! Go only to reputable La Casa Del Habano shops or nicer bars & hotels. And remember that tobacco taxes are very high so even if you are buying in what you think is a legitimate store if the prices seem very low there's a good chance those are fakes as well.

What is a good tip in Turks and Caicos? In Mexico, we often tip 40 pesos (roughly $2) for drinks and it seems to be well received. How is it in T&C?

DON'T TAKE TOURS FROM CRUISE SHIPS...OVER PRICED AND THEY don't deliver what they promise. We paid $500 for two people for a 6.5 hour tour and got a 5 hour tour. Experienced travelers told us to take all tours from the islanders and put our money into the communities where it will do the most good. I agree!!!
@ we were on a Celebrity cruise in the Carribean. EVERYONE on our tour complained.
Char Horst that is high, but in over 25 cruises I mostly always take cruiseline tours and have 99% been pleased. Princess even guarantees that if you find the same tour elsewhere for cheaper, they will refund. Beware, if you take an independent tour and do not make it back to ship on time, the ship will leave without you. We were in Papeete and took a tour where the bus broke down, it was hours before they could get a replacement bus, we were over half hour late back, luckily it was a Princess tour and the ship waited.
You can't speak for all tours or cruise lines. Locals run those tours.. not the ships.

If you're looking for Cuban cigars PLEASE remember the golden rule in the Caribbean and Mexico - EVERY SINGLE CUBAN CIGAR SOLD ON THE BEACH IS FAKE!! And they're bad fakes at that!! Go only to reputable La Casa Del Habano shops or nicer bars & hotels. And remember that tobacco taxes are very high so even if you are buying in what you think is a legitimate store if the prices seem very low there's a good chance those are fakes as well.
