That was some learning. Almost every player i know would bet on the slingers against the archers, one to one. And the interesting thing is that i remember winning more than one engagment with slingers against archers. But like this, it actually makes more sense. Thanks for the video.
Yep! this only applies to these units however - you have the Eastern Slingers and the beastly Germanic Slingers that, when matched up against similarily priced archers destroy them. I know I have won several engagements against elite archers with slingers - but when I think back, I am usually focus firing, usually more spread out - all massive in winning skirmish engagements.
The Reason I prefer precision shot over quick reload is that it makes you use your ammo more effectively instead of just shooting it faster, so in the end you get more out of it
I just put the subtitles a 4:50. "The archers are now out of ammunitons. They spent their entire ammos on destroying those niggas..." UA-cam subtitle at his finest.
The Captain if you are a competitive person in a game, yeah sure ^^ but then one mostly also gets enjoyment from becoming better. It is a personal thing ^^ some just like to horse around.
Not unless there's no enemies anywhere near you and you need to capture a point - which you never need to do because you always need to rush that last point and crush the enemy. I've played through the entire campaign several hundred times as every faction at least ten times and I've used dismount twice.
Slingers ammo might be vital, but that situations tend to be scarce. I would normally prefer inflicting more damage quickly than saving ammo for an eventual situation which might not happen. That's why I normally go with 2 archers and 1 slinger just in case I need some stones for the late battle. Besides, archers fire in arch is more useful for walled cities assaults, less friendly fire...
I think that you missed Syrians vs Cretans, using their Precision Shot/Quick Reload, didn't you? Or wasn't I paying enough attention? Happy new year btw :)
"When it comes to being a good player, i could care less." Sir no need to be so long winded just say you're a noob, means the same thing but so much easier.
@@Thegreatdane269 I don't think so... Imagine getting hit with a round projectile in the chest. Quoting " A sling is also more or less dependant on hitting a target in the head in order to inflict really serious injuries". Maybe if you can score a headshot than I can believe that, but from such a far range... I still don't think so.
@@mateko2001 A sling is really only going to do major damage on the head unless said target is unarmored. However, a lot of bows couldn't do much to armor either, and even a head shot, if it hit the helmet, would glance off. Thus arrows mostly found their way into exposed areas or in gaps in armor. I'd rather get hit in the helmet by an arrow over a sling bullet.
@@Thegreatdane269 I agree to that, however I still think that arrows are more effective to light/no armour like leather over the sling. Arrows cut and stick into body while sling only generates the blunt damage. Although the arrows took over sling due to high morale damage not the effectiveness against armour.
@@mateko2001 One hit from a stone shot from a sling will put any man out of the fight by breaking bones, or even getting stuck inside you ultimately killing you... we are talking a dense stone coming at you at 150 mph, you are either dead or useless at that point... arrows kill by blood loss... some armor is hard and can deflect the arrows.... but try deflecting a heavy rock coming at you faster than Ferrari.
Well, it depends on the kind of cavalry. Royal Cataphracts are absolutely deadly on the charge, thing is, once they're engaged, they will lose against some other good mele cavalry. For me, the best mele cav is the Azat.
For its time, stoicism had a rationality and clarity that I find very attractive. As you probably know, Marcus Aurelius was an influential stoic which creates part of the beautiful dynamic in Gladiator - Maximus being the might and muscle behind Aurieliuses idealistic hopes for Rome, and Commodus the antithesis of that - a selfish, emotion-driven man with petty needs.
"Need to know how everything works"
i feel you way too much on this

Winning is fun. To win you need to be better than the other guy. So in effect trying to get good will increase the amount of fun you have.

I think it'd be cool to have a video on the dismount feature. I don't know when the best time to use it is, and how useful it is.
Sure, that can be arranged.

In real life in open field i think slingers would win because they can use a shield and fire.

Hey, man, Thx for all the video archives that you did
I can see that you don't upload anymore,, hopefully everything is fine with, have a nice day
Thanks for doing my request:p
NP! Always open for suggestions on what to cover.
"Archers can spend their load quickly" That made me giggle xD
Yes! I'm not the only one who doesn't care how bad he is!
Haha. All about the GGs!
how do Rhodians stack up?
Depends whether or not the Han Solos shoot first.
Can u do a vid on melee cavalry and compare them to shock cab and which melee cav are actually worth the cost?
How do elite Peltasts do vs these two?
SkillaWillits badly, v poor armour compared to others
4:08 me everyday
Video idea : most cost effective means to deal with cataraphacts
Pray?
5 Levy Freemen.

I might very well have! Happy new year!
Hello. What about the Persian archers? Are they not very effective?

how the f does sling have a better armor pen than an arrow....
Blunt force. A well-placed lead shot is probably going to do more concussive damage than an arrow.

K thanks guys!
And I meant like what type of cav would win head to head in a cav fight
Sure. It depens on it use of course - they all have scenarios where they are awesome, and where they plain suck.
Sounds like a mason
Hey Maximus do you like stoicism? It just occurred to me that your approach to Rome 2 is kinda stoic.
For its time, stoicism had a rationality and clarity that I find very attractive.
