I would love to have a band of brothers like you guys again. I had 2 buddies growing up. There were 3 of us. As we got older, one of us made some poor decisions and now he’s paying the price of it incarcerated. The other one just ghosted me after a while after he met his wife and had a kid. I’m all alone by myself. Tried dating but it never worked out. Sometimes you need a male friend to do guy stuff like this but it’s hard to find a new friend when you’re already an adult.
My Dad is a photographer in the Lake District, and has spent years travelling, taking landscape photographs. A couple of weeks ago he was revisiting a favourite spot of his in the Lake District to photograph a birch tree that he and many others have been photographing and enjoying for decades. On that trip, he arrived to find it had been cut down, and the trunk mostly just discarded to the side. Whilst I love seeing people enjoy the outdoors - please remember that whilst to you it might be a random tree that nobody will care about, to someone else, it might be so much more. There's no need to be chopping down trees - not least of which due there already been felled trees around. Gas-based stoves are incredibly efficient for cooking, or just carry firewood if you must build a fire, or collect it from the ground. Sorry to seem like such a fart.
I agree. It may have been rotten at the base but my thoughts are leave standing trees alone. Also it may encourage others who have seen this to chop trees down that are still living. Other than that I really enjoyed your video.
@@peterdoherty2390 Aim for leave no trace. Of course the fire is necessary for warmth. Only take fallen wood. Small gas canister stoves are amazing for cooking as well. The good ones can very quickly boil water and they’re ready to burn instantly, no mucking about.
Hi Joe, was good to meet you today at snake pass, great talking to you. Enjoyed the 3 videos of your Scotland trip, will watch all others in next couple of days. Tip for fire making: Lacura lemon hand gel from Aldi, really flamable if you cant find pine resin.
9:49 you guys aren't that far away from anything when I hear a leaf blower in the background lmao. You Brits are hilarious with the "brave" things yal do 😂 it was fun tho.
Love it lads. I can see your channel going far. Id refrain from chopping down trees and use a little fire pit though personally. It just sets a bad example for other wild campers. When youre making content on the internet, people look up to you and the standards you set. I know the tree looked like it had come to the end of its lifespan but in actuality, standing dead trees are a vital part of a healthy ecosystem. I really cant state quite how important they are tbh. Sorry to be negative. I myself have learned all these lessons the hard way, luckily i learned them all before i started my own youtube channel. Keep up the great content. I look forward to watching your channel grow. 😊
Im so jealous. All my friends want to do is get drunk constantly no matter what i suggest. Ive tried get them on adventures but the best they do is talk about a potential adventure... Really liked the vid guys, I'll keep trying
I've drunk peaty water on many hiking trips to Scotland and never suffered ill-effects, but I always collected it from fast-running streams. If the water shown in the video came from stagnant ponds or slow-flowing streams near the loch then I would avoid it.
This is very different from the series in the Alps but just as well-made and fascinating. I'll be interested to see how you survive the Scottish midges! August is a bad month for them. By the way, I doubt very much if those trees you chopped up were part of the original Caledonian Forest.
Great video guys. Got a few suggestions. The quick cuts are too much and u can mess with other transitions other than fade to black. It’s gonna look more professional. Other than that, you guys are doing great. Hoping to see more. New Subscriber😊
Oh come on man there was more than enough ketchup on that roll but you had to have more - I cant see myself subscribing but having said that the other guys seem alright
You guys please be cywhen cutting down dead trees, here in America they don’t call them widow makers as a joke . Many times the tops snap off and boom your dead
the video starts at 21:03

All good mate the only trees we cut down were rotten at their base and on their way down anyway.

That is a dead tree in a tree farm no one is taking pictures of it. Sorry to be so direct.

100% agree, this sets a pretty bad example to other hikers, imaging if we all cut down trees.
You guys are great. If I was a bit younger (maybe 50 years) I would be right there with you. Good job. I subscribed.
Thanks so much, welcome to the channel!
Great Adventure and Lifetime memories!
Guys, oil or butter or someting to prevent the patties from sticking to the pans.
Very enjoyable vlog.👍
Glad you enjoyed it! There's more to come..
Made me think of Martin Amis hilarious piece on Robert Bly's 'Iron John'
Why wear suits when bathing in Scotland when you’re just among best friends?
Really enjoying your channel guys 👍🏻I love Scotland 🏴 new subscriber..
Welcome to the channel Mark, great to have you on board!
Magnificent landscapes, but beware of Dog Soldiers 🤪.
Youse ever climb the mountains? Ever scramble? I like that the spinner was brought out, cool to see youse catch a trout though and climb a mountain.

Keep trying man, or find some other lads who can commit to this sort of trip, it'll be worth the effort!
it was just peaty water go ahead and drink it. im 60 lived all my days inS otland that water is probably better than the water in most taps in England

Another random video on my homepage but proper worth watching from start to finish. Smashed that subscribe button right after x

Dope mate
Lifestraw is a must, if not boiling. Maybe both. If you want clear water you need to run it through at least a carbon filter like Brita, Pur.
If you're bringing ketchup I don't think you thought you were going to suffer much in the wilderness of Scotland😅😅😅😅😅
nice
It should be called Hunks go camping
Why could I hear a leaf blower before cooking breakfast lol
❤❤
Do arm wrestle match tournament next video your friends
This sort looks like the Netflix film "The Ritual"

O Segredo de Brokeback Mountain
Where are the farts though?🤣
no crocodile in the lake? interesting
1:30 This scene reminds me of crocodiles and all the bad things associated with crocodiles...
How long between the episodes?
what altitude is that? kinda horird weather for summer time
Pretty much sea level, up to 100 metres above it. Scotland is known for it's wet weather
Sorry, when struggling to light fire, split and shave the sticks to the dryer wood
Great pro tip, we figured this out later in the trip!
@jobacusmovies I live in scotland so wet us one of my fortes lol. You can also peel dry skin of birch tree, that stuff is like fire lighters, amazing.
@@KingG0610 Yes that's a really good option
We were on the lookout for birch bark but didn't come across any - it's an outstanding tinder as you say
Wow, what side of YT did I make it on 👀😏

Scotland has too much shitty weather! If you want to be always cold and bad weather...yeah anywhere and anytime is good for camping! UK weather sucks!
"surviving/lost" and its just 4 homosexual British men camping with more supplies and than I had when I was 15 and went on a 8 day long bush party.
They aren't gay. You just wish they were. Three of them are brothers.
