This feels like the epitome of a Classy Whale video: ☑️ Lack of Research ☑️ Needlessly Convoluted Transit Journey ☑️ A Song ☑️ An Appearance from Kalkidan ☑️ A Good Narrative and Moral at the End Again, big congrats to you two on the start of your new life together, and can’t wait to see what y’all have in store for the future!!!
Kalkidan has such a wonderful singing voice! You are both incredibly talented and wholesome, so you make the perfect couple! For the questions you answered, I know for others Amtrak service to Ronkonkoma sounds silly, but I too am supportive of it. I view it as true NYC regional rail, being able to go from LI to New Jersey without having to switch trains! They don't have to deal with freight railways since the MTA owns the tracks, and they need to balance out the extra regionals going to Virginia and they're limited by how many they can run on the NHL section, so branching out to Ronkonkoma makes sense! The Ronkonkoma Branch is the LIRR's crown jewel with the Main Line being triple-tracked, easternmost electrified LIRR branch, and has led to TOD like Wyandanch and Ronkonkoma. As long as the local bus system continues to improve, progress is very much possible on Long Island. Although I appreciate the LIRR's operations, I have a soft spot for MNR since the Hudson Line was the first train I've ever rode, and I find the Hudson Line suburbs to be more urbanized. I lived in Tarrytown when I was a kid, and when I lived there, everything was walkable, and we lived just up a hill from the station, so we didn't need a car for our everyday needs. Even if we wanted to go to the massive Palisades Center mall across the Hudson, there's a bus (formerly called the Tappan Zee Express) that goes between Tarrytown and the mall! Not to mention the beautiful scenery and they go all out for Halloween, definitely was the best place for child me to go trick or treating!
That Greyhound driver was priceless, I understand her patience dealing with New Jersey drivers. Miles’s subway tie is killer! I definitely need that! I think the coolest tie I have is a wooden bow tie with the NYC skyline, I got cool ties because of my time in high school Model UN! That wedding photo is so great! Out of the light-rail systems, the HBLR is my favorite system. All the development that has popped up because of it, all the connections to ferries, PATH, and commuter rail, building an elevator right off the Palisades at 9th/Congress, 8th Street station being built in the same style as the CNJ station that came before it, overall a very cool system that continues to unify the western Hudson communities.
Before the PABT, Greyhound had its own facility by Penn Station, the B&O Railroad had a bus terminal on Lexington Ave (with coach service to Communipaw Terminal via ferry), and there was another terminal closer to Times Square at the notorious Hotel Carter. The hotel opened as the Hotel Dixie in 1930 with the Central Union Bus Terminal. Buses entered beside the hotel’s entrance on West 43rd and proceeded underground where there was a 35-foot turntable (the B&O's bus terminal also had a turntable) which rotated to lead the buses to their berths. The terminal closed in 1957 because after the PABT opened in 1950, it just simply couldn't compete with it. They made it a parking garage, and the turntable and waiting room floor remained for decades. Newark Penn Station was designed by the renowned architectural firm McKim, Mead & White, the same team behind the original NY Penn Station. The main waiting room has medallions showing the history of transportation, from wagons to steamships to cars and airplanes, the eventual doom of the railroad age, and chandeliers are decorated with Zodiac signs. It opened in 1935 to replace the former Hudson & Manhattan's (now PATH) terminus at Park Place in Newark, and Manhattan Transfer in Harrison. Manhattan Transfer originally opened in 1910 and was a station that had no entrances/exits as its only purpose was for people to change trains!
Congratulations! You took a transit problem and made it into interesting trip, added a Miles inebriated cameo, and showed off Kalkidan's wonderful voice! May your marriage be long and beautiful.
Thank you so much for sharing your adventurous journey in the snow to Boston. It was great that you used the classic American coach company, Greyhound to start with before moving onto the newcomer, Flixbus. Their green coaches look good with the orange details on them, the coaches around here are allover green and look a little boring in comparison but like the one you used, work well. We are absolutely delighted that you showed us a part of your wedding day, we feel like we have been on a journey with you and it has been great to be part of this too. We are absolutely delighted for you both.
Hi Caleb. I'm sure it's no surprise to you that Kalky has a great singing voice, with both clarity and character (which rarely go together) and her pitch control is superb. What? This is a ..transit video? I totally forgot😎
Congrats on your wedding, I always enjoy your videos and miles in transit With how much you love, transit, classy, I think your first name is Caleb if I remember it, I’m sure you find it fitting to take greyhound to get to Boston
6:46 It’s sad but mostly justified for the mbta to be considered to have the absolute worst transit system. More things are definitely going wrong than right currently, but since I have to go to school everyday on the red line, I have just gotten numb to it. I will give them props though for actually having a general manager who has experience and is capable of good planning. But ignoring my rant, I gotta say congratulations for getting married! I’ve probably said this before, but you guys are great together. Kalkidan also has an amazing singing voice! Miles’ cameo at the end and the fact that you used his wedding present for greyhound both cracked me up 😂 Very on par for him. I gotta agree though that those are certainly some un-lay-down-ably hostile seats
Ahoy there! Congratulations to you! I'm a wheelchair guy using public transit. I'm Hungarian but have traveled with MTA trains and my opinion of New York City train system is *beep*.
YEAH! You got a knish from Yonah Schimmel's! Only true connoisseurs know of this and a cherry knish to seize the day. The Lower East Side is full of fun gems like those places.
Congratulations to the two of you; have a blessed marriage and lifetime of adventures and remember to do your research 😆 I have to agree with you on the WMATA 7k's but I would've loved to operate on the WMATA Rohr 1000's for nostalgia purposes. St. Louis still has SD400's out in revenue service but they are on their last legs.
Totally agree about getting too old to deal with Southwest's boarding. It just starts the whole flying experience off in a nerveracking way, playing games hoping someone doesn't sit by you. Especially now that their fares are often similar to the big 3. Hate either spending my last day on a trip timing my check in down the second 24 hours before or paying for Early Bird which feels like paying more to solve a problem they created. Just let people pay for seats if they want.
Hi I’m new to your videos but am already hooked and also live in Pittsburgh though I’m new to the area, I was wondering what are some must see places transit related. Thank you
For the next Q&A: What is your thoughts of the Houston, Texas METRO bus and rail system? Have you ever ridden it? What about other Texas transit agencies?
Thanks so much for answering my question Caleb! Out of the cities I’ve been to, I’m probably gonna have to agree with your choice, but as a native Bostonian, I have to get mad at you. Shame on you Caleb! 😡😂
Congrats to the new Mr and Mrs Didntdohisresearch

I grew up on harlem line in Scarsdale.
Was great community to grow up in.
Had to leave because of housing affordability.
LOVE the miles cameo!
The way he does transit and comedy is amazing. I don't even know what I could do 😂

This is a good backup for if you can't get the Amtrak sponsorship.

You know what I just realized was that Miles and Classy 🐳 both have girl friends from the other city
This is why I love urbanism
Also lab partners I. Chemistry is such a good way to meet people. The only thing i will miss about chemistry.
U could say that they have chemistry together
That wedding photo, you both look amazing! 🎉🎉
Congrats to Kalkidan and Classy Whale!
Surprise guest at the end, the famous UA-camr Miles in Wedding Reception!
Congratulations! You took a transit problem and made it into interesting trip, added a Miles inebriated cameo, and showed off Kalkidan's wonderful voice! May your marriage be long and beautiful.
Congrats!
LIRR is the correct answer but Amtrak is not needed.
I’ve had the subway tie Miles was wearing probably since before he was born. 🤣

You should have a crossover episode with Miles where you, him, Kalkidan, and Aleena go railfanning.

My grandfather's dying wish was a Yonah Schimmel's knish!
Miles in his nyc tie and complaining is hard to take seriously?
Hi I’m new to your videos but am already hooked and also live in Pittsburgh though I’m new to the area, I was wondering what are some must see places transit related. Thank you
@@jacobwild4668 the whole light rail is fun, plus the east Busway and inches!
