You're so right. Maybe a lil of topic but: I had to re-evaluate myself. I always caught myself sayin "Sorry, I look a mess" whenever I ran into people and didn't look "fleeky". I thought about it more and I was like "WTF???! This is me in my natural state! This is how I look a majority of the time! Why tf I am apologizin for lookin the way God made me? I try not to use that phrase anymore. Havin a healthy self esteem is really important.

I am not black, but I do think black skin is the prettiest one. It blows my mind that someone having the best skin (black) wouldn't embrace it, when I take my time to admire its luster, trying to decide which tone of dark is the most gorgeous one.

I recently cut my hair & stopped wearing makeup. I don't feel better but I just don't care anymore. I'm tired of the expectations society & my generation have. I just wanna be happy with myself.

It got to a time where I couldn't step out of my room without makeup. I asked God to help me love me for who I am and thank God, He did just that. Now I go almost everywhere without makeup. I do it once or twice a week and I am happier. These episodes are amazing Breeny

A few years ago I shaved all of my hair off just like u. Around that time I received soooo many negative responses. From friends family & strangers. Didn't wear any makeup either just like you. But you know what, those 4 years that I kept my hair shaved were the best years ever. It brought me sooooooo much confidence and happiness & once I began wearing protective styles, wigs etc & went back to my makeup it was extremely hard to go back to being completely natural & seeing my natural face on some days brought back insecurities. But when I tell you god is an awesome god & with him giving me the strength to realize that just like you said we are all different, I can now say that I am not 100% self confident but I am getting there. It's just up to us to believe it and keep reminding ourselves that we are beautiful & good enough. Once we believe it, ohhhhhh lord it's a great feeling.

I was halfway through this video and was like "preeeeach!!!" but then my neighbour rang the doorbell and when I answered, the first thing I did was apologise for looking "a mess". I immediately regretted it... I am not "a mess" just because I'm wearing pyjamas and don't have any makeup on. Made me sad to see how, on a subconscious level, I am still so self-conscious and feel the need to make excuses for the way I look in my most natural state. BUT NATURAL BREENY IS FLY THOOOO!!!! Bih you don't even need to wear make up, like you LITERALLY look exactly the same as you do with it... make up is a crazy thing. The way it plays with your mind is insane. As someone who rarely wears make up and very little when I do (liner, mascara & lipstick ), I noticed how when I take off the make up my features seem lack luster and dull. However, the other 99% of the time when I'm not wearing make up I know absolutely w/ out a shadow of a doubt that I'm beautiful. So it was strange to me that I would feel that way, and this made me realize what make up does to the psyche is crazy. Its basically like your eyes and mind get used to the exaggeration of your features and how that makes them stand out and pop, so when you remove the make up you look less exciting and stimulating to your eyes and mind.... Anyway, I'm wishing more women the love and courage to give themselves a chance to fall in love with How and Who they are naturally. Breeny I applaud you for finding it within yourself to give YOU a chance, and for having the courage to share that with us. Thanks, and much love Beautiful!

I seriously had to pause this video to come here and comment. I was going to initially write that you're beautiful because you are, and then continue to tell you about your skin and complexion but no, you know all of that already. I'm just here to thank you for making this video and I'm so happy to have come across it today because I really need the motivation and inspiration right now.
I genuinely understand you, I was so depressed last year around this period and i hated being laughed at, thought everything was wrong with my body, felt fat, felt like acne was lowkey my bestfriend. But therapy did help and i finally understood that the most helpful thing about life is that one should stay true to oneself, and not hiding behind makeup, and also loving oneself.
I thought you were wearing make-up during the video - your skin is gorgeous, you just need to rediscover your natural beauty again! Love your journey documentation. Please keep this narrative going - you really don't know who you're inspiring!

I am so happy for you Breeny. I honestly felt like you were not being your true self in the past. I found myself comparing my life to yours and so I unfollowed you from Snapchat. When I saw that you posted the video of shaving your head I was like wow this is it. This is your breakthrough, the peak of your wait, and God meeting you where you are. I praised God on your behalf. That's probably the best part about the wait, realizing what needs to be pruned from ourselves so that we can get to the next level. The epiphany, the realisation that you are experiencing happened to me years ago, but separately. In 2011 (aged 18) I just one day thought fuck it, I can't keep doing this. I have to learn to love myself without painting my face. I was so scared to go to college without makeup on but I braved it and from 2nd year I stopped completely. Then in 2013 I cut my hair off and went completely natural for good. I'm not saying you have to cut your hair or go natural to love yourself but its what I had to do to escape my demons. 2015 I cut my hair again and I've been bald ever since lol. Till today I continue to not wear makeup unless a special occasion like a party, and its the most freeing feeling. Its become NORMAL and something I don't even think about. I think I have even become MORE attractive because of the confidence it's given me. Male attention has little to no importance when it comes to rebuilding your confidence, but honestly in the recent years that I have been makeup less and hairless, the attention has grown. Even my current bf met me with no makeup on. So I guarantee you and any other woman that is reading this and is also embarking on this journey, the struggles you face with this journey now WILL PASS! I struggled so much with self esteem, I felt like demons were surrounding me. I would cry in bed all day about my looks. But eventually you learn to ACCEPT yourself first and then your mindset changes from 'I wonder what they think of me,' to 'I couldnt give two shits about what they think of me. It is what it is. You can't please everybody.'
One thing I will say though is my demons still do try to pop around once in a while, we all have a bad day, but at this point in my life I am sooo much stronger than them!

I love this! As I don't wear make-up at all only if I am going to a party but recently I have been told I would look more beautiful if I wear make-up. I started to doubt myself and began to think make-up = beauty, this video has shown me so much more: I am beautiful without.

Breeny - can I just say that the reason I was drawn to your channel wasn't because of how you looked. It was because of your message and how you carried yourself. I hate hair and makeup in excess. I am a relaxed laid back type of woman. I understand the insecurities as we all have our own and this is new to you. Let me just take a moment and tell you that I pride myself on being an honest person and when I say you are BEAUTIFUL, I sincerely mean it. Your beauty exudes from the inside first and foremost. You are well spoken and you have values. Most of all you love God!!! ✋🏽high five for that. You are fearfully and wonderfully made and you need to walk in it. Give yourself a break and don't be so hard on yourself. If you can look amazing without makeup and hair then the possibilities are endless with simple additions. It's funny that with make-up you were trying to contour and highlight etc. but your natural skin looks like has its own contour and highlight and looks fresh and dewy :) We are all victims of marketing! They tell us we need to change something that is already perfect! I stripped my make up layer by layer. First I stopped wearing powder, then foundation, then eye shadow, then, blusher, then mascara. Now I only put a tiny bit of concealer on redness near my nose and when I am super pale (yes, my "problem is paleness" haha) then I use a little gel fake tan. I stopped wearing make up because at some point it started to feel uncomfortable to wear a "mask" on my skin. I just didn't like the feeling of something on my face so it came kind of naturally. I just stopped having a need for it. But there are days when I feel like I want to put a little mascara or a lip gloss and it's fine :) But it's only to enhance my features not to completely mask it. You are doing great Breeny and I think I don't have to tell you you are beautiful because you already know it :) Love xxx

This is my first ever comment on youtube and felt compelled to send you a message. I am a black woman in my 50's and have worn little or no make-up throughout my life. I have never experienced the pressures of the world's beauty standards as girls and women do today. The need for heavy make-up etc to hide our natural beauty, is a trend I wanted to see disappear for a long time. These videos will help women of all ages. I am so proud of you. I love to see you live and accept yourself. I went through this 7 years ago with relaxing my hair and 2 years ago with makeup. presently I only where makeup Monday through Wednesday and on special occasions. What was once a tool to cover up now is a fun way of art. I now focus on a healthy mind, body and soul, which has built my confidence, allowed me to accept myself and dismiss others that had any problem with my personal process. luv ya hun keep up the great work

This seriously helped me so much. I feel like this helped to shed a layer off from hiding myself constantly because I'm afraid of my bare face. I've had acne my whole adult life for 10 years and finally my current boyfriend convinced me to stop wearing makeup. It's been a few days and it's been a struggle with my head space because I live in Hawaii where everyone is so beautiful and goes to the beach and has beautiful skin. And I'm slowly growing my confidence back. The part where you said that "people look at you as a whole" is really what stuck out. Also "where is your confidence coming from?" Such good points. I'm not a make up everyday kind of woman I rarely wear make up but I recently (mothers day) had a similar experience to you where multiple family members laughed at my hair. I had cut my hair back in Dec '16 but no-one had seen it because it was winter and I was constantly in a hat, well lets just say there were many weird looks, comments and jokes from my family when they saw my short finger coils. I actually didn't care that they laughed at me, It just made me think, I just saw it as their problem and carried on with my day. Fortunately I am comfortable with being myself so it didn't affect my self esteem but I can definitely understand why someone younger and less self assured would feel bad after such an encounter especially when it was quite a few people having negative things to say. As someone who prefers a more natural toned down look, I can really appreciate what it is you are doing Breeny and you look wonderful without all the extras (maybe I'm biased lol).
