    My grandfather tried to make me listen to this when I was a kid. I didn't get it. I was into Motley Crue, Doctor Feelgood at the time. Now, when I am seasoned enough to appreciate it he is long gone. RIP Richard Holmes.

      I started appreciating this type of music back when I started playing fallout 4 in 2015. I was 8 at the time when I first heard I don't want to set the world on fire by the Ink spots and when I did hear it I instantly fell in love with it! Now here I am digging deeper into swing generas 9 years later looking for more good music and it appears I found some.

    I'm guessing that Clarence Williams is a direct ancestor of the actor Clarence Williams III... If not its a hell of a coincidence because they certainly favor each other.

    I've been improvising this kind of music on my tin whistle. I was inspired my Les Lieber ua-cam.com/video/3vuKRiyXdxI/v-deo.html
    It may sound kinda dumb, but I want to continue his legacy and make ragtime & jazz popular again. I'm thinking about taking a trip down to New Orleans and playing my tunes on the streets to gain an audience. I've been playing in local pubs here in Austin, TX but I feel like I need to play where Jazz was born! :)

      The 1920's were not the ragtime era. 1920's were the beginning of jazz era.

    • @JenHansonJenU1Entertainment

      yes! it is a jazz song...originally 1924, I think, written about a brothel gal, who ended up dead! A fun Clarence William's song, I covered on Uke, live. Public Domain

    • @emilianoturazzi
      @emilianoturazzi 8 років тому +1

      +Joe Carbery he sounds like Arville harris, but I can't be sure... it would be fine to know the personnel - I can't recognize the clarinet player... a very fine musician

    • @emilianoturazzi
      @emilianoturazzi 8 років тому +1

      +emilianoturazzi oh I've read he (the clarinet player) should be Buster Bailey
