People are comparing winter consumption with summer values on other cars. 19 kWh/100km in winter at 110km/h average speed is excellent. With a usable battery of 77 kWh, that's 400 km range, and the car charges great for a 400V system. If you want better battery performance, you have to buy the Mercedes eqs, but that car costs twice as much.

I really like these style (and the ones done by Out of Spec Reviews) of loop tests in different contitions and Bjorn Nylands 1000km challenges to see EVs used in real eorld scenarios rather than wildly inaccurate EPA/WLTP range estimates.
My goal is to find an EV that can drive for 3 hours at 120km/h and then charge that amount of distance in 15 minutes and be decently affordable and practical. Until then I'm sticking with my PHEV. The E-GMP cars are getting close, so maybe when I'm ready to replace my 2021 in a few years it will be a stat that is available in lots of models.

The id7 isn't far off. 360km in summer and you can recharge 200km additional range in 12 minutes. Most of the time you are stuck in traffic or construction on part of the trip anyway, so you usually only get 100km/h average. Driving more than 600km a day only happens on vacation for most people, and then you have time.

@@Psi-Storm I would consider 200km in 12 minutes to be not only far off but miles off target. Even the E-GMP cars can get 10 to 80 in 18 minutes and are epa rated to like 430 km, so 70% of that is only 301km... And that's only at the slow EPA speeds, not 120km/h so it's even worse.

I always drive with my ligths on, regardless of the weather conditions...it's not to see, it's to be seen! Especially by pedestrians. It's much easier to interpret speed of an object with lights on. Firsat of all it's a huge 5m long vehicle. So you could understand bigger consumption.
But the problem is in product development.
Who needs a large vehicle would rather take an estate and not a hatchback, so Vw missed the point altogether with this vehicle. literally there is limited market that buys this.
The model s buyers are getting it for the performance, and only for the performance.( another 5m long hatchback body, that looks better than this hunchback id7)
Thus this isn't an interesting purchase from the start.

Yeah, and gas cars always consume the same despite speed and weather? No, they don't. 700 km is the WLTP range of the big battery version and it's perfectly doable.

Pozdrawiam z Polski - i love my ID. BUZZ

What Cars test in the Uk also showed how inefficient the ID7 is at 2.6 to 2.8 miles/kwh (23.9 to 22.4 kWh/100km)

@@abraxastulammo9940Well I expect even the EPA figure (whatever that may be) is generous. VW constantly made noises about this being a 700 km range vehicle. I suspect that's only possible when the vehicle is dropped from a height of approximately 700 km.

I think VW needs to go back to the old design language like the Aetos and Passat. Their electric cars is not really good looking.
