Not really, there are already google docs, sheets, etc, they support multi files opened, works great on dex, but here we are.. What it lacks is connectivity between apps, like drag and drop files, only few apps could do that, not blaming samsung tho, its just android wasnt really designed for that
What i use it for PowerPoint presentations at school. It lets me just connect to hdmi, and because many has macbooks theres always a usbc to hdmi adapter ziptied to the cables

But this cable is anyways used 99% by the lectors which use notebooks with HDMI. Its very cleaned up, yet useful. At first i was dissapointed by the missing USB A port, nowadays im happy about it

It replaced all my computers except the gaming rig. Its not only a superior Notebook (Performance, Battery runtime, usability on the go,…) but also a superior Desktop (more silent, in 95% of the tasks faster, less energy wasted,…) I was also a Desktop/DIY guy for long, but with Apples change to ARM/Apple Silicon i even LOVED to replace my heating and noise making machines with a completely silent, yet more powerful notebook!
I would highly recommend this $2000 setup over the $1000 laptop for the people who use Twitter, Minecraft and youtube all in the same screen at the same time.
if he has a macbook or ipad for video editing, it is easier to film on an iphone and send thru airdrop to his mac/ipad. I have both devices and i also prefer filming on iphone for this reason and also because i'm lazy.
Honestly, phones are powerful enough that you can get away with a cheap blank notebooks with crazy huge batteries that act as the keyboard and screen. I've never done it myself but I can see the use case for people on a budget that need to make it easier to process documents, spreadsheets and videos with a better UI than a phone.
Sadly there are not even proper office apps and android itself is very limiting when it comes to scaling to a big 16:9, vertical screen Let alone the poor performance and stability because of Android itself and the buggy, bad coded apps.

I hooked my S21+ up to my Benq curved 1440p 100hz monitor through a type c usb hub with HDMI. It doesn't run so good on this phone, but the concept is still pretty nice. Provided you had a portable monitor, you definitely could do some work on Dex, because my phone was able to have a keyboard, mouse, and flash drive plugged into the hub. Everything worked well enough in my case, no device stepped on another, and I managed a 120MB/s transfer from the flash drive
Samsung should release same thing asus did back in the day with their asus padfone series just release a dock that turns a phone into table and then keyboard to turn it into "laptop" I think that would be pretty cool and with modern tech it can be even more elegant than what asus did
Fun fact: Android has had this functionality by standard for long years. It's just that pretty much all manufacturers disable it by default. Only Samsung decided to make their own version.
The only thing that would make samsung dex perfect is for the ability to draw while using an external monitor for samsung dex. I use samsung notes extensively during my online classes and using the phone as a drawing tablet for my notes at the monitor would be amazing
I use DEX daily with a 27 inch monitor keyboard and mouse. Which basically does 99% of my basic computer needs. Its way better then whats demonstrated here.
I'm a CAD tech and love Lenovo, currently rocking a 2cnd gen t14, it's a 17" or whatever but it's the shit never gets hot etc etc but I'm tied to my home set up because it's impossible to do CAD on such a small screen, I just want a 24" travel monitor, don't care about any of the other BS.

It's a cool thing tho, but Samsung dex can be available to use if you have a Samsung s series phone. I cannot do this with my A53
