Stand-Up Comedy Is HARD: All Around Losing (Episode 2)

  • In the second episode of "All-Around Losing," Harry attempts to follow in the footsteps of Louis CK and other schmucks-turned-idols by trying to become a stand-up comic. He starts at the very, very bottom, subjecting himself to NYC's brutal open-mic night scene, and quickly discovers that 1) making people laugh is nightmarishly difficult and 2) he is no good at it. It's funny to watch him fail, but not ha-ha funny.

It takes balls to be able to do what you did. It's not how many times you fail, it's how many times you fail and get back up and keep trying.

IDK maybe i'm wrong but he is kind of awkward and unconfident, so maybe he should focus his act around that. Just awesome self deprecation. But try to maybe cut back on doing so many jokes about sex you only got 5 minutes and it seems like you had a shitload of topics written down on your hand, but you only got to the sex topic, which if you're awkward and unconfident you shouldn't only be talking about banging chicks because awkward and unconfident guys have a hard time banging chicks. You're kind of defeating your own purpose a lil bit. Plus it's five minutes pick out jokes that you wrote that you think are the funniest practice at home and time it out. Congrats for getting on stage buddy takes a lot of guts. Play to your strengths and you can do it.

I love this episode, it makes me laugh and reminds me my own first open mic! Stand-up comedy is not easy, maybe it looks easy for some people who are just watching. Louis Ck walks out of a subway and goes to a pizza store, and then go to the comedy club, so classic!! Harry really followed in the footsteps of Louis, haha.
