I still remember coming home and seeing my parents watching a DVD on the new big screen tv. The music was instantly recognisable and I smiled and said I’d be there as soon as I’d dropped my gear off in my room. My mum’s voice followed me down the hall, “I thought you said this movie was good?” I popped back into the living room and said “Yeah, Pirates of the Caribbean is great.”
Dad then added, “it’s a cartoon and it’s boring.” Mum chimes in, “We’ve been watching it for half an hour.”
I had to dash out and try to muffle my laughter. I came back in, red faced and with tears streaming down my face because I couldn’t stop laughing. - they’d been watching the dvd intro for half an hour! I fixed it for them and they did, quite enjoy the film. Happy memories….they still don’t know how to use the DVD player.

That was an overdose of Anne/Oisin! 😊
My favorite is the one she’s learning how to use the computer..! It makes me realize how patient I can be with users in my job..! And how stubborn they can be when we say not to set 0000 as a pin code and all that stuff..! 😆😆

Love that they used actual cod liver oil, that's dedication to a bit

Omnibus edition shows how great the characterisation is. I've laughed at them all - but my highlights might be the cures when Oisin is sick, the very specific Christmas tree instructions, Anne being totally flummoxed by her new phone...all me, verbatim.😂 Now proud to be an Irish mammy.

These are so good, I just love Anne so much but I am glad she wasn't my mom growing up 😂 Also the way Foil just comes off as a real teen so effortlessly is amazing! Not to forget Barry, a small but very very important role in the lives of both Anne and Oisíns xD

One of my great aunties once went to someone's house and said "AND she never asked if I had a mouth on me!!!"
this is apparently irish for "She didn't offer me a cuppa"

It fits every nationality. My son swears the Mother is me, and I think Oslin is just like my Eric. We are Irish Americans that arrived in the 1st potato famine, but I swear it is us. And every family has a Barry next door.😂

I think it is somehow possible that Irish Mums double as Yorkshire Aunties. My Mum was very laid back, she was born in Yorkshire, but she lived her early life and teens in Birmingham. However, both my Aunts (one who had no children and the other who had no daughters) were very like this. Taking a keen interest in their niece, who was sort of the daughter they never had, they kept a close eye on me. I recall telling them that I had got B+ in my English lit mocks and a B in History and one of them smiled and looked at her fellow Aunty and said "But we all know you could have got As." Long live Yorkshire Aunties and Irish Mums, in fact all good Mums, bless 'em. Although they should perhaps all carry a warning label. "We're annoying because we care."

Poor Arms had to put all the sketches together where he only appears very shortly or not at all. I bet he had a nightmare about Foil and Hog after he finished the edit.

I didn’t realise that Foil Arms and Hog set a banquet for us viewers. Also, Mrs. Flanagan Supremacy. She’d get along swimmingly with South Asian Aunties.
