    Wow... I am seeing Dawkins in a new light. More friendly and patient in this conversation. This was a good conversation and thanks Justin for moderating it. This is teaching the present world that we can have opposite opinions and worldviews and still have friendly meaningful conversations. And many thanks to Collins too.

      Dawkins has a modicum of respect and dare say awe in what Collins has achieved with science. It is that and only that makes him review his bull terrier style attack. He asks Francis questions without that smirking mockery slathered in disdain that he back handedly normally reserves for those of lesser intellect

    • @rvirzi

      But I agree with David Hume's point - they are not really "laws" in the sense they must be followed. Causality is an illusion that cannot be proved. A law of science can only say that B has always been seen to follow A in controlled experiments. It does not prove that B MUST follow A every time. This leaves open the possibility for something outside of space/time to intervene and prevent B from following A. If that something is like a being with free will - then it will never be subject to experimental observation.

    • @joeytrimble7198
      @joeytrimble7198 2 роки тому

      Right, not the wager. Pascal was interested in something he saw as God transcending what most of us think of as logic-not meaning “illogical” but on the other side of logic from that, perhaps if it were in the middle. Maybe in the way that unnatural and natural are apparent to us, with supernatural being outside of our normal encounters with the natural. He was onto something-no one can confine God to the purely natural and expect to see. By definition, God is supernatural, so also is He superlogical. Hope this helps.
      I think that Dawkins has crossed the Rubicon so hard that it would take something greater than it took for me to see, though I was nearly every bit as resigned to atheism before-utterly blind to any other possibility. Yet here I am. I just wish I’d known all my life. It would’ve made so many things better.

    Quantum Physics has shown that Reality is based on Probabilities.
    A statistical impossibility is defined as *_“a probability that is so low as to not be worthy of mentioning. Sometimes it is quoted as 1/10^50 although the cutoff is inherently arbitrary. Although not truly impossible the probability is low enough so as to not bear mention in a Rational, Reasonable argument."_* The probability of finding one particular atom out of all of the atoms in the universe has been estimated to be 1/10^80. The probability of a functional 150 amino acid protein chain forming by chance is 1/10^164. It has been calculated that the probability of DNA forming by chance is 1/10^119,000. The probability of random chance protein-protein linkages in a cell is 1/10^79,000,000,000. Based on just these three cellular components, it would be far more *Rational and Reasonable* to conclude that the cell was not formed by undirected random natural processes. Note: Abiogenesis Hypothesis posits that un-directed random natural processes, i.e. random chance formation, of molecules led to living organisms. Natural selection has no effect on individual atoms and molecules on the micro scale in a prebiotic environment. (*For reference, peptides/proteins can vary in size from 3 amino acid chains to 34,000 amino acid chains. Some scientists consider 300-400 amino acid protein chains to be the average size. There are 42,000,000 protein molecules in just one (1) simple cell, each protein requiring precise assembly. There are approx. 30,000,000,000,000 cells in the human body.) Furthermore, of all the physical laws and constants, just the Cosmological Constant alone is tuned to a level of 1/10^120; not to mention the fine-tuning of the Mass-Energy distribution of early universe which is 1/ 10^10^123. Therefore, in the fine-tuning argument, it would be more *Rational and Reasonable* to conclude that the multi-verse is not the correct answer while trying to determine the origin of the universe.
    A "Miracle" is considered to be an event with a probability of occurrence of 1/10^6. Abiogenesis, RNA World Hypothesis, and Multiverse would all far, far, far exceed any "Miracle". Yet, these extremely *Irrational and Unreasonable* hypotheses are what many of the world’s top scientists _‘must’_ believe in and promote because of a prior commitment to a strictly arbitrary, subjective, biased, narrow, limiting, materialistic ideology / worldview.
    Every idea, number, concept, thought, theory, mathematical equation, abstraction, qualia, Information, etc. existing within and expressed by anyone is "Immaterial" or "Non-material". The very idea or concept of "Materialism" is an immaterial entity and by it's own definition does not exist. Modern science seems to be stuck in archaic, subjective, biased ideologies that have inadequately attempted to define the "nature of reality" or the "reality of nature" for millenia. A Paradigm Shift in ‘Science’ is needed for humanity to advance. A major part of this Science Paradigm Shift would be the formal acknowledgment by the scientific community of the existence of "Immaterial" or "Non-material" entities as verified and confirmed by discoveries in Quantum Physics.

    One epistemological error (epistemological error because religion and Francis Collins' faith does not adhere to logic) I believe Francis Collins is making is in his rejection of the scientific view the replacement for Collins' is his own culture's explanation of such phenomenon. It shows what I call the bias of locality since Collins decides on an explanation that is pervasive within his own culture. If he had chosen a different religion, it would at least illustrate that he was searching for the truth (as much as one that rejects science can). But by accepting his own culture by default, Collins' illustrates nothing more than the influence culture can have on shaping one's opinions. This is anathema to science and is the reason in science that we don't have, for example, Jewish physics and Arab physics - just physics. The principles apply cross culturally and allow for results to be duplicated across the globe regardless of one's personal beliefs.

    Miracles only occur to show us the full force of Almighty God's refined electromagnetic laws to encourage us to follow His righteous electromagnetic laws...and here is the crux of it all...by following Righteousness we are using the same electromagnetic laws that speak directly to our genetic health in a refined way rather than the 'reaching out for vital needs' of the evolutionary way...and Almighty God is in charge of both.

    Is it really consistency that Richard is looking for? Consistency is “If A and not B then C and not D.” God is the source of all things. Everything comes from Him. It doesn’t come from the universe or any other physical thing. The universe consistently does nothing of its own. God can’t make mistakes. We can because we are a physical fabrication. The laws of the universe hold true that matter and energy cannot make or direct themselves. God said if you sin you die. If you don’t sin you live. So everything that happens is a part of the judgment as a result of our own sins on us. God can offer relief if we understand that God is the only source of relief. Only your Maker can perfectly cover for you Himself and remake you again from the inside out by the power of His true word as no one else can. Jesus was healing every disease and what was our response? We killed Him proving what was in our hearts. We don’t deserve anything. Everything that we have is by the grace of God and we will all finish dying in the end because it what is due to us. It’s really not so complicated. God is still proving what is in our hearts. This universe is a physical fabrication that is neither good nor bad. It’s what we choose to do that is good or bad whether we tell the truth or lie against the truth. Our sins are ultimately on and against our Maker so God literally showed our sins to be on and against our Maker when we killed His only Son our only hope. In killing God’s Son a perfect sacrifice was made in order to send everyone His Holy Spirit to convince each one of us of our sin, convince us of righteousness and to convince us of the coming judgment. The Holy Spirit is now our only link to God. Salvation is through sanctification by the Spirit and believing what is true.

That he died on the cross for my sins and rose again on the third day for my Victory, I believe that in my heart and make confession with my mouth, that Jesus is my Savior and Lord.

      @Sedalia You admit that are subject to delusions and proud in that you say you can admit it, but do you know many those delusions are and what they are and how they drive you? I thought myself an atheist for so long, as so many more today think they are. And I do not doubt that they, just as I would have then, would pass a lie detector test and prove they believe what they profess. But there is so much more that most will never know until the end. I found it. You admit that you are subject to delusions, yet you must know that you cannot know what they are if you are under them. And as one who was there, the same as you are now, but escaped by no power of my own, I tell you that there is deception that you are under but do not know you are under. You believe there is no God, and so you believe there is no evil force that works invisibly against God, so you fall prey to it as one who may be host to a parasite they don’t believe exists, while it slowly destroys them.
      I take no pride in telling you I was a fool. And I do not mean to offend you when I say that there is more at work in this world than human affairs, and that you are unknowingly and perhaps rather seemingly benignly playing into its hand.
