we get a similar effect here in Vermont in the US from when you get a early ice storm and then heavy wet snow you with find trees that were crushed and frozen to the ground and some of them will survive and push back up off the forest floor as the deadwood rots away
I feel like this is a lesson in true patience. Not being able to wait for long periods of time, but to not act even when you're really excited about something. Thank you for the reminder Peter.
Over 30 years in the making. That's older than me. Bonsai gives me something to look forward to when I'm getting old. I have trees growing now which will hopefully look just as beautiful in a few decades
Darthescar98, few people your age have the patience or vision to commit to something whose payoff may lie far in the future. I know I didn't. When I did start taking bonsai seriously in my forties, I had little time to indulge in it, so I focused on growing worthwhile material for when I retired. And that has worked. You're off to an earlier start than most. Keep it up!
Hey Peter I'm a huge fan of your youtube channel, just a small hint for your videos, if you zoom in from the camara while you film, there will be less focusing issue on the footage.
Maybe add some raffia and pull the top bend in tighter, but the space between foliage and trunk is nice as is. Probably an opportunity for more shari by following the natural line almost down to base.
Good to see Kevin doing a bit of carving, which made a big difference to a tree you have worked on for so many years. Thank you Peter. When did you originally do the work, What month was it ?
Mind boggling to me how he can just quickly chop of such a huge chunk of root, especially considering he's invested 30 years into this tree.I'd be scared out of my wits hoping i don't kill it haha
I'm a BIG fan of Literati style too so please do more Bunjin videos. Great work on the carving Kevin and keeping it looking natural. I'm with Peter though and preferred it the other way around haha :).
Lovely tree Peter 👊 We spoke at the bonsai club opening at Leatherhead the other day, you invited me to herons to make a video on making bespoke bonsai pots in the style of Su chin Ee. I would love to take you up on that offer Peter. I was thinking around April time as I am busy preparing for bonsai fest right now, making pots etc, does some time in April sound okay with you ? Would be lovely to meet you again
Dear Peter, what a great job. I love this pine, you are an artist. And don't change your accent and you could suggest to your guests that they adopt the same as yours 😊
One must strain to hear Peter all the way across the Atlantic. Haha. That might be a good thing; I pay careful attention. Also love the way Peter grows an extra set of hands. Literati might be my favorite style, but I have had only one decent tree, a yamadori Ashe Juniper collected on a club dig. This is a very nice literati.
@@peterchan3100 It would be a highlight of my senior years to meet you in person. I live in the American Southwest and won't be able to travel to the mid-Atlantic.
Hello Peter. In one Of your Bonsai Videos It is Called REPOTTING A PRIVET BONSAI In that VIDEO you Say you Use Litac Or Litag As the Growing Medium For that Privet Bonsai Tree What is the Correct NAME FOR THAT GROWING MEDIUM IS IT LITAC OR LITAG? THANK YOU.
What are you going to do with the (rain) water that’s going to stay in this big hollow? You said that the health of the tree is more important than anything else.
Dear Peter, would you mind using your mic when filming? The smartphone does not catch your voice when you're face is turned away from the camera man and I would pretty much like to hear every word that you are saying.
It’s a real shame that there isn’t hardly any movement in the trunk.. you have movement in the thinner parts of the tree (the apex and branches) but it just does not compliment the trunk at all. Maybe some heavy, heavy bending for the trunk, in the future?

@@TylerDane ❤️Yep!
What a difference the carving made to the tree. Kevin must be a wizard with his carving tools.
Always a bonus having Kevin on with you!
I love literati style, and this pine is exquisite! Great job!

This year will be my 40th year at HERONS. !

The literati bonsai style looks so elegant
Maybe add some raffia and pull the top bend in tighter, but the space between foliage and trunk is nice as is. Probably an opportunity for more shari by following the natural line almost down to base.
What a beautiful tree ! Makes me want to fast forward the Scots pines I have on my benches ! :)
1 big tree two masters...awesome...thx for sharing this literati Peter and Kevin
Great camera work Josh.
As a grower myself, I LOVE seeing the Felco hand pruners❤
I use my Felcos a lot; in fact most of the time. - Felco should pay me for advertising their product - Felco please take note !!
I really enjoy the banter between you and Kevin. This post was great!
Peter, This is a beautiful tree with Kevin Wilson's magic touch. you and Kevin work well together.
Thanks team.
Good to see Kevin doing a bit of carving, which made a big difference to a tree you have worked on for so many years. Thank you Peter. When did you originally do the work, What month was it ?
I worked on it on New Years day.
What a satisfying sight that was when you ripped that big round-and-round root off.
Makes me want to start fresh with new bonsai for the new year :)
Mind boggling to me how he can just quickly chop of such a huge chunk of root, especially considering he's invested 30 years into this tree.I'd be scared out of my wits hoping i don't kill it haha
Beautiful work. You guys are real masters. Thank you and greetings from Brazil. 🙏
Thank you Peter, Josh and Kevin ❤🌳
I like the cascading to the right.....maybe cuz I'm right handed 😊

Oh I love this tree!! It’s an absolutely gorgeous piece of art and I am so thankful you shared.
Thx for the videos, I enjoy them very much. An idea for a future video I would like to see is how some of your split trunks look after a few years
Very striking. Resembles a harp.
The tree is looking good already 👌. It will be nice to see the progress in a year time.
Thank you Peter and Kevin
Lovely tree Peter 👊

Beautiful, as always! And Kevin's carving is perfect.
As ever, Mr Chan amazing! Mr Kevin, wow, a gentle surgeon's hand with that scary tool.

Are you going to the MABS convention in April this year ? If you are I hope to see you there.

Beautiful interaction and result of the work 💚🙏
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh Yes. Another Sunday Morning Treat. Many Thanks. STP
A very nice tree peter 👌🏼
I love bunjin and literati. The style that brought me into bonsai 40 years ago 🎉
Thanks for sharing bonsai knowledge plus bonus English language part
Once again outstanding work Peter.
Great team and tree! 👏🏼🌳⭐️
Such skills.
Great video listening to the ideas
Pine’s are a long road good luck with that one cheers 😊
Will be a great literati in the future 👌
A very lovely tree, as usual.
beautiful tree and great to see Kevin carving
Really nice
13.05 Master Sensei Kevin San in da House ❤❤❤
Exquisite.
awesome great trees as always
I have a 20 yr old blue star that i want to literati this year just the trunk is a little straight, nice one peter 👍
That pot is only slightly oversized? Great job Peter and Kevin 👍
Very beautiful
I love it
How easy he made carving look like
אלופים, תודה. ❤
Just love Kevin Wilson
My vote: Cascade to the right. But both ways are beautiful.
PS. Peter is right about the bigger pot. Horticultural integrity is part of the first rule of bonsai: keep it living. Wow. What a beautiful tree.
Hello Peter.
In one

As the
Growing Medium
For that

What is the

IS IT
LITAC OR LITAG?
THANK YOU.
That is a proprietary name for a kind of expanded clay product sold in the UK.
What are you going to do with the (rain) water that’s going to stay in this big hollow? You said that the health of the tree is more important than anything else.
No harm will come to it - the rain will evaporate
Dear Peter, would you mind using your mic when filming? The smartphone does not catch your voice when you're face is turned away from the camera man and I would pretty much like to hear every word that you are saying.
I must remember to use the mike regularly
I have no problem. Yes it is not as loud, but I can still hear it fine. But then I have very good hearing.
Love the videos, but just lately the sound level is awful, can only hear Peter sporadically
👍👌🙂
Yeah.
yeah, you know.
👍🌲
Mr peter could you give me that tree please
You want everything for free?
👍
Did you forget to turn on your microphone?
It’s a real shame that there isn’t hardly any movement in the trunk.. you have movement in the thinner parts of the tree (the apex and branches) but it just does not compliment the trunk at all. Maybe some heavy, heavy bending for the trunk, in the future?
Interesting critique
