Really cool looking, and dare I say "sexy". Reminds me of Yeung Chan's wooden hand planes from many years back. I was able to hold one of his planes at a wood show in Long Beach many years ago. It felt so good in the hands, such amazing feedback.
I knew I had seen it somewhere but I couldn't remember where... I'm sure it was one of his planes at a show, maybe Long Beach.
Beautiful and ergonomic design…didn’t know you were a sculptor too!
We do whatever the project requires...
Thanks Carl! I made 2 of these planes, but never really used them because I was too afraid to shape them, and add a handle! I didn’t use them because they just weren’t comfortable or easy to push. I’m going to use your handle design, and give it a shot!
Very good! The handle really makes a difference. I’m sure you’ll like it.
Great info Carl, I need to add one to the longer planes I made in your class.
Very educated Keep it up Sir 🙏
One thing that comes to mind is to how to redo the mouth opening. I remember you talked about it , not sure if you showed it in this series.
i have really enjoyed watching this series ! Although, i am planning on making a curved bottom plane, would you be willing to make a video showing how to make one of those
I have not made one previously, but I have always been intrigued by the design. Krenov made them as needed for a particular project. The few times I have needed one I have used my compass plane or made a curved platen for my belt sander (it's a hand tool, but it has a cord :-) ).
I may give it a go. There are two types of curved bottom planes - curved across the width (which needs a curved-edge blade) or curved along the length (straight blade). I assume you are referring to the former; the other is relatively straightforward. Let me know.
Is there any chance of you making a video for the making of the adjustable height work table?
I have considered that. I have made three or four now; two reside in my shop and the others in the shop at Cerritos College. It's a great project. I just need to figure out what to do with it... I'll put it on my to-do list.
@@CarlStammerjohn if you don’t have room for it after you build it, I’ll do you a favor and take it off your hands haha.
@@theancientsky I will have to find a home for it. I'll probably offer it to viewers, but I'm not sure how that will work. Maybe a lottery.
