I first played this game some 30+ years ago in a bar in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was called 'Pyt i pande' which is one of several Danish names for a Swedish dish called 'Pyttipanna'. The name translates into 'small pieces in a pan'. The game was played using ordinary dice and a large glass or ceramic ashtray (25-30 cm/10-12 inches in diameter, vertical sides about 5 cm/2 inches high). Whenever a die showed a '1', it was removed from the game. Other than that the game was exactly like Strike. As the ashtrays were made from such hard materials, you did have to be careful to avoid having the dice jump out of the ashtray on your turn. I did occasionally play the game with as many as 8 players. Even with that many players, it was a fairly quick and quite entertaining way to decide who'd pay for the next round. In our game, the next round was paid for by the last man standing - i.e. everybody tried not to 'win'.
This episode is so amazing! Thanks for showing this game and bringing it to my attention. I can't wait to play it with my own game group.Thank you for all the fun episodes of GameNight, you guys are amazing! Keep going on and on and on....
Immediately ordered it on Amazon after watching this video. Very good to take on vacation and play with family. I also work with kids and they love it.
Snakes N’ Lattes is my happy place 🥰 I have gotten so much of my unique pieces from my collection there and always loved any recommendations by staff! So nice to hear them mentioned would have loved to play a game with any of you there.
A perfect game for this series, especially after the 2 1/2 hour 504 monster. These are my favourite games to see you guys play, along with others like Hedbandz, DoodleQuest etc.
Dang it! I've just finished watching two - TWO - of your videos, Broom Service and this one, both games I'd never have given a second glance at, and now I want the two of them. My bank account is really beginning to have... "issues" with you guys! 😂
Guys I love your vids but I watch the channel exclusively for Game Night. And there are so many review vids that clog up the subscription feed, is it possible to separate them to a subchannel or smth? I think I'm not alone here
+Ultath You can. :) I had the same problem. Go on the Playlist and on the right side is a small checkmark for subscribing. New videos from Gamenight will no longer be on the subscription feed, but the playlist will be on top at the "playlist-feed" on the left at your youtube home-screen.
Hitting the dice is advantageous, regardless of what Nikki thinks, since it increases the odds that dice match up, and can get a group of dice to match.
Short and sweet game, and probably wouldn't be as aggravating for people that hate dice based games. (Zombie Dice is fun, unless you are the one always rolling 3 shots on your first roll...with the green dice!) As far as not being able to use Liar's Dice (which I have) to make something similar, challenge accepted.
+Lincoln Damerst thank you for the clarification. Stinks it's out of print as I wanted to check it out. In any event keep up the good work with the episodes. I watch everyone as I always find them entertaining.
I know with five players you get six dice have you guys ever played six with each getting five dice? Seems like it would work although games would probably be even shorter but that just means more games to be played!
If the game was ten bucks maybe...but it's $35 on amazon. I already have dice and I already have a dice tray. Is it really that important to have the specific arena rather than just a normal dice tray? I can just call the ONE pip side as the X. I guess I just don't see the value in paying $35 for this if you already have the dice and a dice tray. Am I wrong? Looks like fun though.
Not to dispute how fun the game may be, but it is just dice, why pay ten times more for a box when you can just get a bag of dice and play it in a bowl?
"Just the three of us. We can make it if we try. Crimes of passion are just fine when enacted on AI." This video came out before that song, and those aren't the right lyrics, and Dave got it stuck in my head anyways.
I could not justify spending $30.00 for this game for myself, but I did buy it for my cousin's birthday. He turned a room in his house into a tavern,. And every tavern needs a good dice game.

It's great to listen when you guys are having fun. :)
I am so happy this game is coming back, I will try the HP version. 12:00 your reaction is so funny!
I also got this game a couple weeks ago because of Snakes & Lattes (their podcast). I'll be taking it to a game night tonight.

you're absolutely not alone in this!
+Ultath They have a playlist in their channel that has only Game Night.
+Lance McQue yeah but you can't subscribe to a playlist, can you? that's why I'm asking
I'd like something like this =)
+Ultath You can. :) I had the same problem. Go on the Playlist and on the right side is a small checkmark for subscribing. New videos from Gamenight will no longer be on the subscription feed, but the playlist will be on top at the "playlist-feed" on the left at your youtube home-screen.
Looks like an easily DIY-ed game with the ton of dice I have lying around...only because I can't find it anywhere.
yeah i just ordered it from amazon while the discussion was going on.
Hitting the dice is advantageous, regardless of what Nikki thinks, since it increases the odds that dice match up, and can get a group of dice to match.
Yep, I had to shake my head at Nikki's strategy in this one. She was worried about throwing dice out, but the answer to that is to throw better. Lol
Dave's argument about is there value to hitting all the dice, is yes there is. The probability is better if you reload all the dice vs one or two less
Dave mentioned that games like this are his sweet spot. Have you guys ever played Tumblin Dice? He may also enjoy that one.
funniest video alongside the Hedbanz one - and what a simple game
Omg this looks so fun!!! I think I want this game for christmas
Bought while watching....thanks guys
Super impressive how ppl come up with games like this.

I can't find anything about the Knizia game Extra. Are you guys talking about Excape?
+Chris Gallo Excape is indeed the newer version of Exxtra. Both are out of print right now though.
+Lincoln Damerst thank you for the clarification. Stinks it's out of print as I wanted to check it out. In any event keep up the good work with the episodes. I watch everyone as I always find them entertaining.

just ordered it while i was watching this
Supposed to jostle the box when it lands on the edge of the arena, no?
I thought it was bowling wow what a surprise
You should play Impact! The new version of Strike
great stuff.

You're actually right. In fact, I think this game was originally played that way before the custom-made version came out.
So much fun! Thank you.
I just found ihis at Goodwill for $1. Lots of fun

If a friend bought this, I would play. But I wouldn't get it for myself. Fun, but very light....and dice hate me.

Ordering now🤣✌
Screw buying this game just buy some dice, count 1s as Xs, and throw in a dice tray
$ saved
yup, it's going for $60 on Amazon right now. Screw that! I just bought 50 dice for $9 and will just use a bowl or a tray
I guess it's a step up from War, but just...
Just relabel it a Dice Battle Royale and it'll fly off the shelves!
I could not justify spending $30.00 for this game for myself, but I did buy it for my cousin's birthday. He turned a room in his house into a tavern,. And every tavern needs a good dice game.
LCR still the best dice game ever.
who picks the games to play on these shows ? - another dreadful dice game - so many better games out there
Sadly I can not find this game anywhere.
