Senza dubbio uno dei migliori baritoni di sempre, pronuncia perfetta, suoni perfetti. Without doubt one of the best baritones of all time, perfect pronunciation and perfect sounds.
SM was really something in his heyday. He's one of the singers who brought me to the opera, for his manly, exciting voice and dramatic involvement and musicianship. How much more does one want....?
@ssstllk, de acuerdo, yo lo extraño también. Los duetos de Invano Alvaro y Solenne questa'ora con Domingo son tan emocionantes y majestuosamente hermosos.
@Leonardo's Truth I heard Milnes live once, as Iago in Chicago. His voice was HUGE. He sang his first line offstage, and he was louder than anybody onstage.
They had that perfect chemistry. I'm still angry at the Met for not filming them *together* in Don Carlo. They filmed it twice in the 80s and kept them separate, what the hell. (Also, Forza would have been nice. In both cases they sound fantastic in audio recordings.)

Deep in artistry, natural beauty of true Verdi baritone... Grand Milnes. Bravo!

Superb interpretation!!!
Thank you for posting it

Chissà se avremo ancora voci cosi limpide e potenti per mantenere l'opera al suo livello. Thanks Sherrill!!
Ai giorni nostri non ci sono più voci come queste, addio bel passato.
Great Baritone is worth a dozen tenors.
Mil gracias por compartir. Mi favorito baritone por siempre.
Bellissimo !!!!
I miss Sherrill Milnes. His style suits my taste and musical appreciation.
The young Milnes at his best.
sublime.
Sherrill Milnes and Placido Domingo were the power couple at the Met in the eighties. Beautiful, precise diction and expression. I miss his voice.

Odd - whenever I've heard them live it was Milnes that had the edge in vocal size and power.
