l3layze Good point. It could be another marketing tactic. Knowing the wedding would be filmed, so Bob got the reverend to say it that way. I’d like to think he legally changed it for this reason though. Now, that’s commitment!
@@katvtay same. I think it adds another layer to the character for him to legally change his name to Robert Vance-Vance Refrigeration. Could have been for any number of reasons, but in my head, this is real.
We just gonna ignore the scene where Kevin says "I had Ryan explain to me what he was doing illegally at corporate twice cuz it seems a lot like what I do here."
@@artsystuff123 i don't think it was ryan that explained it to him, it was the one from the stanford branch, that was in prison. The black dude that quit after a few episodes.
He said you’ll see bc Michael will “see” when he gets cancer bc asbestos is a carcinogen but it’s an honest mistake and I could see why you would misinterpret that
Dwight: "Identity theft is not a joke Jim, millions of families suffer every year." Also Dwight: Has a disguise for everyone in the office when he gets into a snowball fight with Jim.
Fun fact: The guy that plays Toby in an interview once said that the Scranton strangler never actually killed anyone. He just strangled them, not to death
in season 6, episode 4, dwight says “what happens in accounting, stays in accounting”, after which you can see angela do her signature grin, and hear kevin and oscar audibly laugh, insinuating that there really is something they could be hiding 😳
The big problem with this is when Angela ends up broke/homeless. Sure oscar invited her to move in eventually but there's no way she'd just go broke and if they cut her off she wouldn't stay quiet.
It’s also ironic that the strangler killed someone the same day Pam was supposed to have her baby. Maybe Toby was so upset that he had to strangle someone
So I've read lots and lots of the 'toby is the scranton strangler' theory and i must say it has some pretty interesting aspects. I thought about it and with this many clues it really seems like toby did the murders (for another instance he didn't want to go in the church when cece was baptized) But than, after all this little hints, i remembered something that proves his innocence without a doubt. You wanna know? Michael Scott is still alive.
@@fabienasamer6113 that would only get himself caught. cops would question anyone who knew Michael Scott and then they would find out that Toby would have a motive to kill Michael
It still kinda checks out with me though. Maybe she lost her money in their divorce or spent most of the money on her cats? She always loved her cats and I remember her buying a particular breed of cat that cost her thousands. She has a ton of cats and has been shown to drop a lot of money on them for their wellbeing. As for Oscar it costs a lot of money to run a successful campaign when your going into politics and Oscar has only had a average paying job as an account so that money had to have come from somewhere. And as for the last and least assuming guy of all I always got confused as to where a guy so seemingly dumb managed to scrounge up that kind of money to buy a bar and as the guy on the video said his explanation was just too questionable.
Theory: Michael's reason for hating Toby so much is because he got a divorce. During the 'Conflict Resolution' episode Michaels tells Toby "Your solution to solving problems is just getting divorced". He phrased it this way because this was how his parents solved their "problems" and his parents getting divorced was the worst part of his childhood.
I think it is also because it's unbelievable for Micheal that someone who has a family (something that was always Micheals dream) could just throw it away.
@@robertwide6592 well, it might be the very fact that he was unable to stay in the family, which already makes him the biggest loser in Michael's mind.
Toby didn’t feel guilty, he never went to confess. He went to the prison to aggregate the guy he framed in order to convince the police that the person they caught was the strangler
I would assume the point here is that Kevin has been aware or he's been knowledgeable about money he's stolen from the company. In "The Convict" (and you could use the 'Bob Vance' theory) he's verbalizes his innocence by playing dumb
He cut out the best line from the Bob Vance Theory when he introduced himself to Kevin, Stanley and Ryan, and Ryan asks "What kind of work do you do Bob?" LOL!!
😅😅 I thought that too. 😊 But I love the Bob Vance theory! It's funny to think of it simply as his being a bit narcissistic in the way certain self-made men can be. But the idea that he's also using the documentary crew for free advertising is hilarious. Frrankly it's well in keeping with the satire on "The Office," where a lot of people are doing things they shouldn't. 😊
@@gasperdn David, that's right! And the party reward at Casino Night is a small Vance refrigerator that Creed wins! 😅😅 (And Creed says he "never owned a refrigerator before"!) This theory is making me laugh even harder at those scenes now. 😊
He only says "you'll see" I love this theory but I think this is simply just toby saying it in reference to the dangers he just listed. BUT maybe he is saying in reference to what Michael said. Either way good catch.
In the third season, when Martin (one of the guys who was from the Stanford branch) says he went to prison for insider trading, Kevin says it’s pretty much similar to what he does at the accounting...
@@missmeg1091 i still think that there is a measure of intelligence just because of the fact that he figured out a way to get more money anyway. whether he realized it was illegal doesn't undermine the acquisition of the extra money somehow. stupidity would definitely be good cover too.
Kylei Walker But if he actually was doing it on purpose, why would he even mention it to the crew? That would make no sense if it was something you would probably want to keep secret.
@@missmeg1091 Kevin admitting to the money fraud wouldn't be his first admission to the crew that no one else was aware of. he laughingly told the crew about Oscar's affair, which no one else picked up on until much later when the senator himself came out. Kevin was also keen on Jim and Pam before everyone and told the crew that Jim and Pam were "were definitely sleeping together." he's dumb enough to let stuff slip, but not dumb enough to figure things out. he's smarter than he lets on.
it's funny how throughout the series you can see Toby caring less about HR throughout the seasons up until near the end when he says things like, "HR is a joke. I can't do anything about anything".
Maia ? Yeah but there are some really good points made in the comment section of this video made by the office yt channel some of them brought up that Toby was making a novel on how his character got framed for murder. ua-cam.com/video/4timuAnUnG4/v-deo.html
Maia ? Yeah but if u were to visit someone in prison guilty for murder, wouldn’t the guards make sure they didn’t attack u? So the only one with access to his neck is technically himself. He could have found someway to squeeze his neck and frame the guy in jail
Not sure why the first one is even considered a "fan theory." I thought it was very obviously and deliberately shown that the overheard comment was one of the biggest reasons Pam finally started asserting herself. It was probably exactly what the writers were going for. That being said, I like the Vance Refrigeration theory.
Yet it is included in a video about fan theories. And yes, I did watch it. Saying "not really a fan theory" implies that it partially is, when it is most likely a plot point that the writers deliberately included, obviously overestimating some people's intelligence.
Regina Hayes the theory is that overhearing what oscar said about certain traits not being pam’s strong suits, is ultimately the reason pam grew a pair and dumped roy &. therefore ended up with jim finally
Yeah, I’m with you. The first theory was just a recap of exactly what happened in the show. You hear him say that she lacks courage and honesty, you see that it affects her, and then she literally says she’s going to be more honest. What’s the theory?
I came to the comments JUST to see if someone else said this! I don’t think this is a theory, I think it’s very obviously pointed out as part of the plot... like the first time I ever watched it, I knew that was it 😆🙈
Angela could have used her money to fund the state senator...which could be why he married her...and that is why Angela didn't have any money when she got kicked out of her apartment...which also might have been why Oscar helped her (so she wouldn't turn them all in).
This is a good point. I always wondered why she was struggling so much all of the sudden. She was fine before she met the senator. This never made sense to me.
The first one with Pam's art is sweet. Gil has no reason to lie or be polite, since he doesn't know Pam is listening. Pam understands this, and that's why it hits harder than anything anyone could say to her face. I also love the magic moment at the end where Michael is still proud of her drawing (in the same episode). Michael confirms that no matter what she is, or stives to become, his Dunder-Mifflin family will never be undeserving of his love. Just brilliant 3-dimensional character-work.
Also, I like how Oscar subtlety stands up for her. Like, yes, those aren't her strong points, but it doesn't make her a bad person. She just needs a push to be a little braver. That's how I always saw it and I saw Oscar got annoyed that Gil was talking dirt about his work friend.
ok unrelated, but Andy's gift for Cece's birth is super cute and I'm sad that it got messed up, its just so sweet. I would've loved to have seen Andy give it to them
@@espilon591 he put in a newspaper column announcing her birth and had it framed for Jim and Pam , but cici came a day later than she was supposed to, so the day of her births newspaper had a column of a Scranton strangler police report instead 😂
honestly, if you were to reimagine the scranton branch being a cover for money laundering/drug selling that went on among all the workers, it makes the show much more interesting.
Not to mention, in the episode “A Benihana Christmas,” Jim openly talks to Michael about rebounds. He says “they can be a really fun distraction, but when it’s over, you’re left thinking about the girl you really like. The one that broke your heart.” And you can see a clear change in his facial expression, which ultimately leads you to believe that he realizes that Karen is a rebound.
You missed the time that Kevin asked the ex-con who (briefly) worked in the office exactly what he was charged with (insider trading) “because it sounds a lot like what he (Kevin) does there every day.” Your #2 argument would’ve been stronger with that.
+Aangler it would've supported this guy's general theory that the accountants in The Office were involved in illegal dealings. There's no need to split hairs to make yourself look smart - no one cares.
i laugh when they do videos like that xD, first something is presented as a theory with some "evidence" supporting it, and then at the end they just show Pam saying/confirming exactly the same thing trying to be proven beforehand lol, like "see, i was right all the way" hahah
I came here to write that comment :) it happened, that was the storyline and because it's a mockumentary, they even say it all out loud... literally... to the camera... xD
I think one thing you missed about kevin embezzling money. Is when andy needs oscar to make an accounting error and kevin offers to do so. But oscar and andy tell him hes good at making mistakes but not the kind they need. In his cut away he tells the camera very slyly that hes not stupid. Seems pretty significant.
I'm watching the office on tv now, yes I've seen it before I'm just watching reruns, and season 7 episode 19 the garage sale is on. Completely forgot about it until I saw this but Kevin is playing Dallas the board game with Oscar and Darryl for money. The money is on the table in front of everyone and they all notice it's gone. Not only did Kevin steal it right in front of 2 people supposedly much smarter then him but he convinced them that it was one of the 2 of them.
In the finale, when Erins' parents are telling her that they are their parents, Kevin is the first one who visibly understands the hints. Even the camera moves in to see his reaction. A few seconds before anyone else. This should show that Kevin is not as stupid as he is IMO.
omg the last theory is so good. I was always waiting for toby's character to have another benefit than just being a person for michael to hate on. this gives all of this such an interesting turn
I'm convinced by the accounting one - 3 and a half minutes into season 6 episode 4 (Niagara) after Andy says 'what's happening in Niagara stays in Niagara' Dwight says you could say that about anything - "What happens in accounting stays in accounting" and Angela does a VERY uncharacteristic evil smile!
Paul Liberstein (Office writer) has stated many times in interviews that he (Toby) is not the Scranton strangler and in fact the strangler isn't even a murderer... he is too weak to kill the people, he just chokes them and runs away. Toby is not too weak, this leads to a theory that Gabe might be... Any ways, Toby (writer) has officially confirmed that Toby (character) is not the strangler
Toby isnt distrout about the wrong man being convicted hes mad he never got the attention. He clearly wants attention because he bring up the case 3 years later
@Frank but what if the suspect wqs really innocent and the actual strangler (suspected to be Toby) knew this and stopped strangling people to make it look like it was him?
@Jim Halpert A serial killer feels guilty about someone innocent dying? That’s not very serial killerish. Wanting attention for the crime is very much in the ballpark.
@@aceofspades8926 its actually insider trading, its in the episode after the branch merger with the guy who went to prison. Kevin says something to the effect of "i asked him to describe what he did, and it sounds exlactly like what I do here every day"
Tynan Patrick I think the pun is just that he being stupid does stupid things like unconsciously defraud... but then again, if he’s actually smart and acts dumb... Mmmh...
Going along with the theory that Kevin is actually smart; anyone remember the episode where Jim makes up an excuse to leave work but instead they get on a work bus? Kevin can ONLY do math when it comes to food... hmmm
I saw a theory where Gabe is actually the Scranton Strangler. Makes so much sense. He arrived around the same time. He's obviously a creep towards Erin. Plus, he's seen so many horror movies. He'd probably know how to get away with it
What about California then? Why not him? Makes so much sense because no one even knows his real name. Or why not Dwight? If he can kill a cat, why can't he kill a man? Make sense. I mean, all this theories are so ridiculous. Seems like people just don't like some characters (Toby or Gabe) and think something like "ugh he's so awful he can be the stranger, why not"
Nahhh because I rewatched the show recently and they make jokes about the Scranton strangler / just mention the strangler early on but you don’t pay much attention to it on your first watch, because you don’t even know what they mean by it
@@aithlea Yeah he is creepy bc he whispered imma kill him about that one "mini Dwight" and weird bc of grabbing Pams knee n rubbing it with his finger🤒
Pam: I'm going to start telling people what I want, directly. This video: The first theory is Pam started telling people what she wanted, directly. What the hell am I watching!? lol
The theory was about the driving force that pushed her to be so direct, not the fact that she starts being so direct. The creator of this never gives another side or argument as to why this should be a theory in the first place though....
MONEY LAUNDERING IS TRUE! So I was watching the "Customer Survey" episode and this is a dialogue between Jim and Dwight: -Dwight: But then Dunder Mifflin would need to be a front for money laundering and there is little evidence of that. -Jim: Is there some evidence? My theory is that Dwight found out about it, but because Angela is obviously involved, he doesn´t tell the police. Does anyone have any other theories?
“Andrea is the office bitch, you’ll get used to her.” Proceeds to shake Meredith’s hand whilst eating the food Angela was eating before she got up from the table.

I never heard that theory about Toby being the Scranton Strangler. After watching this video, it's possible that he was the killer. I never thought about it before.
Before hearing the theory, and while watching the series for the first time. I believed Toby to be the strangler as soon as it came up. (How is this nan going to juror himself) 🤔😂🤣
Everyone is acting like you're a weirdo for not knowing this theory. On my fourth run of the Office (late season 8). Never heard of this theory, myself. I go on reddit and know the memes, etc. It's surprising how much "common knowledge" isn't as common as we think.
One time, I saw Toby in New York at the Museum of Natural History. I screamed “Toby!” and he said “Hi” awkwardly before walking away. My biggest regret in life to this day is not asking him if he’s really the Scranton Strangler.
#1 - Not a theory, you’re just describing character development. #2 - I think I’m in the minority saying this but I totally agree and think this is completely probable theory. There are so many episodes where Oscar describes business, investing, finances, he really know his stuff. And the ex con episode Kevin tells camera crew he had Martin explain what he did to go to jail because “it sounds a lot like what I do here every day”, Kevin also talks normal in the very first episode or two. He doesn’t start talking “dumb” until after that. I believe he answers Pam’s question and says “Yeah, you’re probably right” and he says it completely normal. It’s the first thing Kevin ever says and it’s also the ONLY time he doesn’t say dialogue in his “dumb” voice. He’s also a talented singer/drummer combo-not an easy task for someone labeled stupid. He’s also a good golfer, which is more of a mental game than a physical one. #3 - Definitely true. #4 - Definitely Toby, Gabe, Robert California, or Creed.
I think creed has definitely murdered at least 2 people, but 1 of them was very bloody (“it’s Halloween today, which is very good timing”) so I don’t think he strangled people lol
As for the hints for fraud, in Goodbye, Toby in Oscar's cutaway he explains Ryan is arrested for fradulantly fixing numbers to fool shareholders. This is something that was going on for a number of episdoes but was continually ignored, even though EVERYONE was knowledgable of it in Scranton and did not hide it (which means corporate knew). I think it was when soemone outside the office (possibly Karen after Branch Wars) saw the fixing of numbers amd Ryan was thrown under the bus. Otherwise, why would the company bring him back on? And Oscar was quite confident in being in the clear even though he works in accounting and would normally have had his numbers audited to make sure real sales added up properly.
Here is a theory: Gabe was the Scranton Strangler because events starting takes place after his arrival. Yes, toby was not present during the Scranton strangler car chase which i think was co incidence because later during jury duty toby was convinced that it was not the real Scranton strangler. Considering Gabe's mental health where he overthink stuff and acts as a maniac for example when he cornered andy to tell him to stay away from erin even there was nothing sort of going on at the moment plus his obsession with horror murder and not to mention wierd energy powders he had plus remember that wierd tape he played during Christmas party with everyone in it without even their knowledge showing that he has great sneaking abilities. And DM was bought back by David Wallace and gabe moved away the incidents stopped.
Also, the strangler would just strangle people and leave them be. He never actually killed them. It would definitely be the case with Gabe because he can't even blow a whistle 😂
@@Puriantartica nah in the newspaper article Andy gives Pam and jim it says serial killer and talks about how he chokes an old lady to death and she’s his fourth victim.
Can't be him cuz when the Scranton strangler was being chased by the police and everyone in the office was watching he was there with them Nice theory tho I would have believed it if Gabe wasn't present at the office 😂
My theory was always that Jim messes with Dwight all the time because, at least at the start of the series, he is secretly jealous of him. Dwight has many interests, aspiration, business ventures and is totally comfortable with whom he is and even if he isnt the best at things he does or if he comes off as geeky or weird to others, he never tries to pretend he is something he is not. Jim on the other hand hates his job, is rather bland as far as whats shown of his hobbies and interests outside of work, clearly wishes he could be doing something else with his life and there are multiple instances where he comes off as "fake" or ingenuous. Jim is insecure with himself while Dwight does his own thing and doesn't fear rejection for being who he is. Jim wishes he had a passion for his job like Dwight does and things to look forward to and get passionate about.
Nah Jim is just having fun. Ask anyone who likes teasing people, it's always best with someone who gives you a big reaction. There are people like Dwight that are so passionate and bizarre, they lack all social cues and are fun to mess with - it's just reality. Jim is the every man. The audience can connect to times they thought someone's quirks were otherworldly, and if there was a camera filming, they'd look straight at it. There is Jim in all of us, and I might add, a little bit of Dwight in all of us.
I would say Jim has no desire to live like Dwight - he likes the simple life. He enjoys humor (and like many of us) is amused when someone can't tell how extra they're being. We've literally all felt this way about someone without a hint of wishing we were them. He and Pam are so great for each other because they see the world the same way. Should Jim have jealousy or some sort of fascination with Dwight's "passion" or "quirkiness", he would have sought out a partner with those qualities. He enjoys Dwights quirks, but in no way relates to them or wishes them upon himself.
Its not so much that Toby feels bad for the wrongly convicted, but rather that he wants credit for the murder in that deranged way that criminals brag about what they have done; he can't stomach the fact that someone else has gotten credit... of course, he would never reveal that it was him either
Finally someone who gets it!! I hate it when people bring up this point in theory discussions. Ultimately, serial killers want recognition for their killings. The reason why Toby seems "remorseful" for helping convict the wrong person is because it's not remorse, but regret. He regrets allowing another person to take the fall and credit for what he did. Up until this point in the show, Toby has literally failed at everything- his marriage, his daughter, Pam, etc. He realizes this is his one "accomplishment" and he regrets someone else taking credit for it.
Not really, she was with Roy for a LONG time. Years. He got Pam because Roy was a terrible boyfriend, and Jim wasn't. He listened to her, had fun with her, encouraged her art work when Roy said it was a joke, ect
Mr. Red Bird That's pretty much what I said. Jim was always there for her when Roy wasn't. Jim supported her art passion when Roy didnt. She saw that and fell for him.
In Season 5 episode 7 "Customer Survey", At 11 minutes into the episode, Dwight is talking to Jim in his car about who would benefit from their down fall. Jim than suggests it could be the mob but Dwight replies that would mean Dunder Mifflin would have to be a front for money laundering which in Dwight's opinion there is little evidence for and than Jim ask if there is some evidence but Pam interrupts before Dwight can say more.
@@raphaeldube7008 Holy shit, I shouldn't have gone to see the episode again even after reading your comment, dammit, now I can't sleep too, how come I never notice Dwight saying that tf?
My theory is that When Toby broke his neck in Costa Rica it was a Suicide Attempt, and after that he realized that’s not the route he wanted to go on, after he wanted to inflict the same pain on other people that he had to take
the first theory is a good catch. The second is a stretch, and isnt very likely. Third one makes sense. Fourth is the most popular theory but has major gaps in information that makes me think the writers didnt intend on making it seem like toby is the strangler. idk, it could be intended, but i dont think so. though, ive never seen the car evidence
Sifkis Two big ones on #4: pretty sure he would’ve killed Michael and Jim, and any confession made inside prison would be recorded and get him arrested.
I sincerely disagree with you on the second one. I think he has some valid points with accountants are being dump just to cover up fraud. Personally, I do not think they are in the show, but I can see how people would think that.
Diomedes Rodriguez yeah I thought that too. It's not a theory, it's an observation. But it's interesting, and I didn't catch it after watching the office 3 times.
Oscar would go on to change his name, become a State Farm agent, move to Houston, and try to rip off Chris Paul and James Harden. Not cool Oscar, not cool.
I had the same thoughts about Jim and Karen. Jim still had feelings for Pam and even admits it to Karen. So even if there was no Karen Jim would still be interested in Pam, but hesitant to get close to her again. So when he realized Pam's feelings for him he asked her out to dinner and dumped Karen. Karen was just a distraction for him.
@Aveteran Player Karen was just a distraction for Jim because he needed a wall between himself and Pam. Jim did the same thing to Katie. If anyone was a fantasy in the situation it was the guy that Karen wanted Jim to be. Jim and Pam got married and had two children. That's not a fantasy. So that means Jim's feelings were REAL! There were two Jim's. Scranton Jim and Stamford Jim. Karen wanted Stamford Jim. Pam wanted Scranton Jim. Jim even admitted to Pam that he wasn't himself since he had come back. So no Pam wasn't a bitch for wanting Jim to be himself. If expressing your feelings for someone makes you a bitch then so was Jim by telling Pam he loved her just a few weeks before she was getting married. Also Jim staying with Karen even after he admitted to having feelings for Pam shows that she was just a distraction because Karen staying with Jim gave him the excuse to keep using her for his own means. That's why Jim dumped Karen for Pam when Pam expressed her feelings for him on the beach. Karen was sad and desperate for staying with Jim. That's why she was so eager to get Jim out of Scranton by moving to NY. Karen let herself get hurt by staying with Jim. The J/K relationship was real for Karen, but not Jim. It was Karen that cried for weeks while Jim was already buying Pam an engagement ring. For Jim, Karen was out of sight, out of mind. Karen was irrelevant to him. However, that never happened for him when it came to Pam, which also made Karen foolish because if Jim still had feelings for Pam while in Stamford, then why would NY make a difference? Jim and Karen's feelings were just one sided. In the end it didn't matter for Karen either because she got her own happy ending.
He left seminary school and he hasn’t been to a church since Also I feel like he also still didn’t feel comfortable affirming that Jim & Pam have a kid
I always thought the ending they gave Toby at the end of the series was pretty rough... I wish they had given him the greatest ending of them all, having him win the lottery and marry a model or something ridiculously great.
It would be weird but kind of funny if he wound up with Pam's sister who is gorgeous, we saw her at their wedding, and she loved him like he loves Pam but secretly he is just with her as a substitute for Pam. Kind of funny but then I'd feel sorry for her.
I recently saw it pointed out that Pam says she doesn't want to marry Roy on the boat in "Booze Cruise" because her parents aren't there. But she later marries Jim on a boat without her parents there. FUCK THIS SHOW IS GOOD.
They were at the wedding Michael slept with Pams mom the recast not the original from season 1 and Pams Dad was also there you are incorrect watch the episode again. Edit: Autocorrect keeps mispelling Pam
Yeah actually no, Dr. Zoidberg. Watch the episodes again. Jim and Pam are all set to get married in the church like normal. But due to the stress of the wedding and pregnancy hormones, Pam breaks down and she and Jim decide to escape because the important thing is getting married not the craziness. So yes, the original point still stands.
The first and official wedding was the boat. They showed up at the church with Jim's tie cut and Pam's wet hair pulled back. The church wedding was done 2nd so the family and friends could 'ruin it' with what Pam knew would happen, the Chris Brown/UA-cam song. They had their special, person ceremony on the boat.
Gabe is the Scranton Strangler. Gabe showed up around the time the Scranton Strangler did. Gabe was late to work during the chase. Toby was way too focused on getting the "Strangler" off because he knew they had the wrong guy. Toby and Gabe are both very similar in the ridicule they endure on a day to day basis; Toby uses hunting the strangler to get his mind off the failure that is his life, while Gabe uses the stranglings for the same reason. Toby is hunting someone exactly like him, and doesn't know he's hiding right beneath his nose. It's Sherlock Holmes and James Moriarty.
Trinate Martinez I think this is as feasible if not more so than Toby being the strangler. Also, Gabe watches all those messed up horror flicks and is into a lot of introverted shit. He's in his thirties. Profiling...
Zero I don’t know that I believe Gabe did it, but the OPs whole point was that Toby was convinced they had the wrong guy. Further, just because they arrested the one guy doesn’t mean it couldn’t have been someone else. I personally don’t believe too strongly in either theory, but they are plausible.
I don’t think so. He was divorced after he lost his job, meaning he was with someone the entire time. He got close to Pam and Jim over the years, and I really can’t imagine someone watching Jim and Pam get together and then making a move on her. Idk though, just a theory.
My theory: Robert California (The Office) is the same character as Raymond Reddington (The Blacklist). It seems crazy but the more I looked into it, the more and more clear it became. Robert California sounds like a fake name, he is very mysterious, brilliant, rich, extremely confident, and has a super-human ability to read a person. His eccentric personality allows him to drive to Florida (not fly, hint) and personally talk Dunder Mifflin CEO Jo Bennent out of her own job. And the first episode with him is literally titled...... "The List." Raymond Reddinton is just hiding out in Scranton, PA because he is a criminal mastermind (#4 on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted Fugitives), until the perfect time comes for him to "suddenly" turn himself in after 20 years of evading the FBI. Scranton to Washington D.C. is about 250 miles, close enough to keep an eye on Elizabeth Keen but far enough away that no one would know him. And another small detail, both shows were NBC so its possible they could be in the same universe. Anyone else ever think this?
Corey Shaulis Thats not a bad theory. Robert California is definitely NOT his real name and this is made clear twice. #1 After Andy is fired by Robert, he is able to steal a big client from Dunder Mifflin. He calls Robert to gloat in which Robert threatens Andy and says "You don't even know my real name. I'm the bleeping lizard king." #2 After David Wallace buys back Dunder Mifflin from Sabre, Robert introduces himself to David as Bob Kazamakis. He then scams David out of a million dollars so he can mentor young female gymnasts.
I bleeping hated Robert California, he made me feel uncomfortable watching the Office. When i rewatch the show i always stop at the season 7 finale (Michael's finale) and then i skip to the last few episodes of season 9. I really REALLY don't like season 8 for a million reasons (but mainly because i not only hate Robert California, but Andy too, because he's a self-destructive moron), but season 9 is somewhat decent.
EDN & HFJ I’m not even sure he killed someone there. It would make more sense to me that he just stole an animal and killed it for like dinner or something.
Why is no one asking how Toby got away in the car chase... How could he have framed another guy if the cops were on his tail? I hope that gets explained if its true in the Reunion episode.
I saw in another video about that theory. In that video they said the theory was Toby was watching a news feed on his computer how the cops were closing in on the strangler, Toby got worried they were after him so he took off but they were after someone else. That's why it was on his computer because if he wasn't in yet no one would have been on his computer, they would have been watching it on another computer. And the phone call was him calling, probably called reception first but no one answered and he knows his own extension, to see if someone could check his computer to give him an update. So in that video it wasn't his car so he didn't need to get away.
Kevin Beetle forget a reunion episode I heard they're bringing the show back. Not sure who allegedly is coming back but I saw Jim on an interview saying he didn't get a call back though
Tony Blake tbh that’s probably for the best. Jim and Pam’s storyline was meant to be finished with the last episode. It would be really weird if they came back
But what if both Toby and George were the Scranton Strangler? I guessing there are a few options: A - Toby starts as the only Strangler and then George Howard teams up and gets caught instead. Either by his own mistakes or framed by Toby. B - George starts as the one true Scranton Strangler, Toby tries to copy him, George gets caught, Toby visits him and George snaps as he sees Toby's word on the trial is worth nothing to defend him. Toby feels bad but at least he's off the hook now. In any case, I would like to know the truth about the case, but I too like that things stay open for the audience to figure it out or talk/argue about even after all these years.
By 'vaulted' do you mean 'climbed up a chain-link fence'? (in the episode where they get locked in the parking lot) because lemme tell you, that doesn't take a lot of physical strength
For the accounting theory, a branch can be more profitable even if they make less revenue. They have two top 10 salesmen in the company (including the #1) two good accountants and a slight overstaff which would work out well to dominate a rural area.
Wait why did Gil call Pam’s art “ Motel art” I think her art is amazing that’s why when I bought my parents house I made the garage and art studio for her.
The first theory is not a theory, its actually true! That's why that scene of that dude being critical was there. It was the moment that Pam realized what people thought of her and she wanted to change it.

So I've read lots and lots of the 'toby is the scranton strangler' theory and i must say it has some pretty interesting aspects. I thought about it and with this many clues it really seems like toby did the murders (for another instance he didn't want to go in the church when cece was baptized) But than, after all this little hints, i remembered something that proves his innocence without a doubt. the accounting theory seems like a stretch, when the senator comes out gay, and Angela becomes single she is completely broke
I was hoping someone else caught that... She was stealing office supplies for her home bc she had no money for toilet paper...
Even though Kevin literally says he does it in one episode
Part of the theory on why she went broke was due to her helping to fund the Senator's campaign.
Oscar takes her in, supports the idea that they were in kawhoots

Theory: Michael's reason for hating Toby so much is because he got a divorce. During the 'Conflict Resolution' episode Michaels tells Toby "Your solution to solving problems is just getting divorced". He phrased it this way because this was how his parents solved their "problems" and his parents getting divorced was the worst part of his childhood.
I think it is also because it's unbelievable for Micheal that someone who has a family (something that was always Micheals dream) could just throw it away.

"I had him explain to me three times what he got arrested for. It sounds an awful lot like what I do here everyday" LMAO. I love Kevin!
Thank you!!! Been scrolling through the comments thinking SURELY someone else remembers that :D felt weird that it was left out of the video
That's insider trading. Big difference.
I would assume the point here is that Kevin has been aware or he's been knowledgeable about money he's stolen from the company. In "The Convict" (and you could use the 'Bob Vance' theory) he's verbalizes his innocence by playing dumb
I just watched that episode, I thought of the same thing while watching this
Michael starts being more mean to Toby after bring your daughter to work day, because he knows what it's like to be a kid with divorced parents.
Oh my god I never thought about that-
He cut out the best line from the Bob Vance Theory when he introduced himself to Kevin, Stanley and Ryan, and Ryan asks "What kind of work do you do Bob?" LOL!!
David Gasper it’s actually “what line of work are you in Bob?” Sorry but small details tend to annoy me
Thats quite alright, I could have sworn I went to find the quote in another clip because I am the same way, wanted to get the exact quote.
😅😅 I thought that too. 😊
But I love the Bob Vance theory! It's funny to think of it simply as his being a bit narcissistic in the way certain self-made men can be. But the idea that he's also using the documentary crew for free advertising is hilarious. Frrankly it's well in keeping with the satire on "The Office," where a lot of people are doing things they shouldn't. 😊
Didn't he also plug Vance Refrigeration at his own wedding?? LOL!!
@@gasperdn David, that's right! And the party reward at Casino Night is a small Vance refrigerator that Creed wins! 😅😅 (And Creed says he "never owned a refrigerator before"!) This theory is making me laugh even harder at those scenes now. 😊

In the third season, when Martin (one of the guys who was from the Stanford branch) says he went to prison for insider trading, Kevin says it’s pretty much similar to what he does at the accounting...
exactly he basically admitted it, i was thinking that!!
Yeah but he’s saying it like he didn’t know he was doing something illegal the whole time. So back to him not being that smart.
In garage sale kevin pretends to be dumb/nonchalant to take the money that andy & darryl gambled

Also, it's more figurative foreshadowing than it is evidence, but both of Toby's injuries are neck injuries. Get it? Scranton STRANGLER
The second was supposedly the strangler himself, or atleast.... THATS WHAT THE STRANGLER WOULD WANT YOU TO THINK.
But when he visits the guy in prison he gets strangled by him so that confirms toby is innocent and the convict is guilty

Exactly. It is something that I thought obvious in the plot.
Did you guys even watch the video? He addresses that it’s not even really a theory.
Yet it is included in a video about fan theories. And yes, I did watch it. Saying "not really a fan theory" implies that it partially is, when it is most likely a plot point that the writers deliberately included, obviously overestimating some people's intelligence.
Did you not even read the title?
And why would they even include it in the first place? Oh right, I guess they only had 3 to talk to and thought they needed another.
Toby: "A man is being put to death and I'm not so sure if he's guilty."
Dwight: _ohhhhhh yeahhhhhhh_
I don't understand the first "theory" It was just saying things that was obvious and didn't get to the theory 😕

Yeah that's not a theory, it's literally implied that's what happened which them showing pam heard them talking shit about her art
I thought Oscar helped her because he was with the senator, and he felt bad for her.

Nils Rungholm Jensen
Gil is a twat. Small town gay pretending to be a high society gay.
Also, I like how Oscar subtlety stands up for her. Like, yes, those aren't her strong points, but it doesn't make her a bad person. She just needs a push to be a little braver. That's how I always saw it and I saw Oscar got annoyed that Gil was talking dirt about his work friend.

Not to mention, in the episode “A Benihana Christmas,” Jim openly talks to Michael about rebounds. The one that broke your heart.” And you can see a clear change in his facial expression, which ultimately leads you to believe that he realizes that Karen is a rebound.
You missed the time that Kevin asked the ex-con who (briefly) worked in the office exactly what he was charged with (insider trading) “because it sounds a lot like what he (Kevin) does there every day.” Your #2 argument would’ve been stronger with that.

i laugh when they do videos like that xD, first something is presented as a theory with some "evidence" supporting it, and then at the end they just show Pam saying/confirming exactly the same thing trying to be proven beforehand lol, like "see, i was right all the way" hahah

In the finale, when Erins' parents are telling her that they are their parents, Kevin is the first one who visibly understands the hints. Even the camera moves in to see his reaction. A few seconds before anyone else.

The first “theory” was a totally intentional turning point by the directors.
Yes, he would say that. He's staying in character, and as a good actor we can anticipate that he will make that claim till his dying day.
Toby isnt distrout about the wrong man being convicted hes mad he never got the attention. He clearly wants attention because he bring up the case 3 years later
Cover up maybe? His not gonna tell the camera he was the strangler
@Frank but what if the suspect wqs really innocent and the actual strangler (suspected to be Toby) knew this and stopped strangling people to make it look like it was him?
He doesn't want the attention though he feels guilty that someone who is innoccent is going to die.
@Jim Halpert A serial killer feels guilty about someone innocent dying? That’s not very serial killerish. Wanting attention for the crime is very much in the ballpark.

I never heard that theory about Toby being the Scranton Strangler. After watching this video, it's possible that he was the killer. I never thought about it before.
That is the most famous theory related to The Office
How have you never heard that??
Literally the MOST famous and most accepted "Office" theory and you've never heard of it? I find that hard to believe lmao
It cannot be Creed. The show was pretty clear about what Creed was at the end
David Lloyd Noo... Toby AND Creed
Ruka okigbo he’s acting stupid
Omg
Also, the strangler would just strangle people and leave them be. He never actually killed them. It would definitely be the case with Gabe because he can't even blow a whistle 😂
@@Puriantartica nah in the newspaper article Andy gives Pam and jim it says serial killer and talks about how he chokes an old lady to death and she’s his fourth victim.
Can't be him cuz when the Scranton strangler was being chased by the police and everyone in the office was watching he was there with them
Nice theory tho I would have believed it if Gabe wasn't present at the office 😂

4 Fan Theories About The Office Too Good Not To Be True
Theory 1: Jim and Pam love each other and had a "will they won't they" dynamic.
No shit.
Ah, my apologies. It was the fact that Gil said something insulting that she and Jim got together.
Riveting.
@@averythesuperhero That's what Im saying. Like I thought it was obvious that her motivation IS what Gil said about her art
Everyone knew that they will. They are the ross-rachel equivalent of the office.
Shravan Vallaban except they stay together longer than a season.
Right?! Not a theory... just story progession.
Jim wishes he had a passion for his job like Dwight does and things to look forward to and get passionate about.
that makes sense
Really wish the intro song wasn’t looped. I already hear that song 1 million times watching the show...
At least we could skip it there...
Onesimus R - Yeah, it’s super distracting. 😂 Ah, well.

Whayt fookin' heathens are ye ta skip the Office opening song?

And thats why he start a book about crime where he is the protagonist :0
Exactly! Why would he feel remorse for locking up an innocent person when he's literally been killing people?
Reminds me of Breaking Bad
@Cheezy Trash Bet you're fun to talk to
Jim got with Pam because he was always there and consistent.
Not really, she was with Roy for a LONG time. Years. He got Pam because Roy was a terrible boyfriend, and Jim wasn't. He listened to her, had fun with her, encouraged her art work when Roy said it was a joke, ect
they were also really good together. Pam was goofy and a dork much like Jim.
Mr. Red Bird That's pretty much what I said. Jim was always there for her when Roy wasn't. Jim supported her art passion when Roy didnt. She saw that and fell for him.
Michael Rojas not going to lie, that sentiment comes off like a huge Nice Guy™
that was obvious -_-
In Season 5 episode 7 "Customer Survey", At 11 minutes into the episode, Dwight is talking to Jim in his car about who would benefit from their down fall. Jim than suggests it could be the mob but Dwight replies that would mean Dunder Mifflin would have to be a front for money laundering which in Dwight's opinion there is little evidence for and than Jim ask if there is some evidence but Pam interrupts before Dwight can say more.
i just rewatched this scene after reading your comment. Now I can't sleep anymore ...

Little man omg yeah lol 😂
the first theory is a good catch.
Plus if he was in the car, didn’t they catch him at the end of the chase...?
I sincerely disagree with you on the second one. I think he has some valid points with accountants are being dump just to cover up fraud. Personally, I do not think they are in the show, but I can see how people would think that.
The first one is not a theory. It’s the exact story line that you are supposed to easily put together as the viewer. Yikes
Diomedes Rodriguez yeah I thought that too. It's not a theory, it's an observation. But it's interesting, and I didn't catch it after watching the office 3 times.

Lol. Poor Karen.
@@elijahfordsidioticvarietys8770 Karen wasn't bad, she just wasn't Pam.
@Aveteran Player
Karen was just a distraction for Jim because he needed a wall between himself and Pam.
Karen was sad and desperate for staying with
Jim. That's why she was so eager to get Jim out of Scranton by moving to NY.
Karen let herself get hurt
by staying with Jim.
Forgot the weird part when Toby wouldn't go into the church for the baptism.
He was almost a priest. he hadn't been back until then.
Good point. If he was a serial killer he might have felt guilty going into a church.
He left seminary school and he hasn’t been to a church since
Also I feel like he also still didn’t feel comfortable affirming that Jim & Pam have a kid
I always thought the ending they gave Toby at the end of the series was pretty rough... I wish they had given him the greatest ending of them all, having him win the lottery and marry a model or something ridiculously great.
Sam T. How did they end his character? I never watched the last two seasons
Advantage Courier - he got fired, didn’t get the girl, and ended up a starving writer with 6 roommates and no friends.
Sam T. That sucks
It would be weird but kind of funny if he wound up with Pam's sister who is gorgeous, we saw her at their wedding, and she loved him like he loves Pam but secretly he is just with her as a substitute for Pam. Kind of funny but then I'd feel sorry for her.
That would have been awesome lmao
I recently saw it pointed out that Pam says she doesn't want to marry Roy on the boat in "Booze Cruise" because her parents aren't there. But she later marries Jim on a boat without her parents there. FUCK THIS SHOW IS GOOD.
They were at the wedding Michael slept with Pams mom the recast not the original from season 1
and Pams Dad was also there you are incorrect watch the episode again.
Edit: Autocorrect keeps mispelling Pam
They got married twice. First time on the boat with no parents/friends.
Carter Pewterschmidt okay I’m gonna re-watch it today
The first and official wedding was the boat.
They showed up at the church with Jim's tie cut and Pam's wet hair pulled back.
The church wedding was done 2nd so the family and friends could 'ruin it' with what Pam knew would happen, the Chris Brown/UA-cam song.
They had their special, person ceremony on the boat.
Not even my FBI agent knew how happy I was when Jim asked Pam out for the first time.
That Bob Vance theory is a clever one and makes 100% sense.
Gabe was there when they were watching the police chase though
Trinate Martinez 10:11, Gabe is right there
Zero I don’t know that I believe Gabe did it, but the OPs whole point was that Toby was convinced they had the wrong guy. Further, just because they arrested the one guy doesn’t mean it couldn’t have been someone else. I personally don’t believe too strongly in either theory, but they are plausible.
Gabe as the the Strangler is also a decent theory, but I think there is more evidence for Toby.
Theory: Kevin is smart
Not a theory just fax’s
I wanna like but don’t wanna ruin 69
Yeah owned a bar by the end of the series
He’s smart when it comes to pie
Screenrant have a total video about it.
Theory: Brian is in love with Pam
Yes.
I don’t think so. He was divorced after he lost his job, meaning he was with someone the entire time. He got close to Pam and Jim over the years, and I really can’t imagine someone watching Jim and Pam get together and then making a move on her. Idk though, just a theory.
I know! I remember that in those episodes I was scared of Pam having and affair with Brian since she was not having a good time with Jim.
Riley Kendall ok
The reason for that is in season 9 jim and pam were going to end up getting a divorce but the idea was scraped halfway through.
"The List."
Raymond Reddinton is just hiding out in Scranton, PA because he is a criminal mastermind (#4 on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted Fugitives), until the perfect time comes for him to "suddenly" turn himself in after 20 years of evading the FBI.
I'm the bleeping lizard king."
#2 After David Wallace buys back Dunder Mifflin from Sabre, Robert introduces himself to David as Bob Kazamakis. He then scams David out of a million dollars so he can mentor young female gymnasts.
With the blacklist being NY favourite show ever, I love this
JDRussell You mean take advantage and have sex with them, right? Just making sure we're all clear on what his intentions were
I bleeping hated Robert California, he made me feel uncomfortable watching the Office.
Wow I’m shook. Great theory.
I always thought creed would have been the scranton strangler
Creed murders people (season 9 halloween) but I don't think he's strangle them. I don't think he has that strength.
EDN & HFJ I’m not even sure he killed someone there. It would make more sense to me that he just stole an animal and killed it for like dinner or something.
I thought it was toby
@@strangeavocado9279 but he ran away also when micheal said "There's been a murder" i forgot the episode. Then the blood thing, dinner? At 8am? O.o?

Thats right, why are they all huddled around tobys computer, I see. It could work.
Wait is there going to be a reunion episode
Kevin Beetle forget a reunion episode I heard they're bringing the show back. Not sure who allegedly is coming back but I saw Jim on an interview saying he didn't get a call back though
Tony Blake tbh that’s probably for the best. Jim and Pam’s storyline was meant to be finished with the last episode. It would be really weird if they came back

how can he strangle him through the cell
@@iamapokerface8992 they are put in either in a table or through these phones
But what if both Toby and George were the Scranton Strangler? I guessing there are a few options:
A - Toby starts as the only Strangler and then George Howard teams up and gets caught instead.
The Toby one has me SHOOK
Toby also vaulted a giant fence so he's physically fit enough to run away from crimes
By 'vaulted' do you mean 'climbed up a chain-link fence'? (in the episode where they get locked in the parking lot) because lemme tell you, that doesn't take a lot of physical strength
He did win the dunder mifflin race they held that one time
For the accounting theory, a branch can be more profitable even if they make less revenue. They have two top 10 salesmen in the company (including the #1) two good accountants and a slight overstaff which would work out well to dominate a rural area.
