Why does everybody think a cruise ship needs to be a theme park. I find a older ships more relaxing, which is why I cruise. Less passengers and getting more attention from crew. 👍
Will not cruise anymore on any ship that most cruise lines choose to keep for this very reason. I love a "ship's" ship and these shopping mall theme park cargo vessels are quite frankly rude and an insult to cruising. Perhaps I will sail on the QM2 at some point because of the transatlantic nostalgia and the fact that it is a great ship but probably my cruising days are over with the market the way it is and with the uncertainty of when exactly you can actually make a firm booking that won't end up being canceled by the cruise line.
@@aussiejohn5835 I agree! It seems like most of the new ship designs only have 2 dead ends on each side of what is barely a promenade deck. I'm not a fan of Royal Caribbeans Quantum class ships for that very reason. It's like they are forgetting about the ocean part.... Which is why I cruise...
So sad, my first cruise in 1996 was the Majesty of the Seas. We saw it in the Bahamas last year when we were on the Adventure of the Seas. My husband wanted to go on it again 😔
Why does it need to be brought up to current standards ? For the 3 and 4 night cruises this size ship is perfect. The Imagination is in great shape. I was just on her in February 2020. There are a lot of us that like the smaller ships. I want to go on a cruise not a floating amusement park I started cruising on ships that were 38K Ton.
Thanks for the interesting if sad update Bruce. Still, 28, 25, even 20 years old is really olde for a cruise ship so it's not too surprising that the older ships are being taken out of service especial during this pandemic. Also, a cruise ship with no or very few balconies is a 'dinosaur' these days.
There are still sailings available onboard Majesty of the Seas our of New Orleans as of November 2020! I was just about to book one of those since I sailed both the wonderful Monarch, and the Sovereign (now being scrapped) before and I wanted to sail all three of the Sovereign Class vessels. But I changed my mind and decided in favor of the brand new CelebrityApex sailing out of Ft Lauderdale on Nov 14. So sad seeing these amazing ships go.
i have been on the imagination 3 times in the last few weeks you can see that they had plans to scrap it . it spent some time in freeport most likley cleaning out any thing worthwhile
You know if ships are headed in certain directions, where they are going to end up, no matter the swearing that they aren't being scrapped. Then why are they going in that direction to go to Celestial Cruises, or taking a break in Greece to determine whether they go to Aliaga or Izmir ? Ships go to Greece to never sail again. Laid up until a scrapper buys them.
I'm not sure if the rumors on Royal Caribbean are true. The Royal Caribbean blog has to continually post Empress is staying in the fleet. According to Royal Caribbean they are in Greece cause its a good cheap parking spot for now and I believe they maybe putting them in Cold Storage. Of course that could change on the dime. But Royal Caribbean continues to deny that they are scrapping Empress and Majesty.... Also in my experience Royal kinda always took better care of their older ships not so much with Carnival..... Not mocking Carnival I like there line to but thats just an observation.
Its sad news when ships go to be scrapped, especially if you have memories of travelling on them. Many financial sites eg yahoo finance are making out that RCL, CCL and Norwegian are heading for bankruptcy. What does everyone think ?
Maybe chapter 11 to restructure debt but I don’t think any are going out. NCL has enough cash secured up for 22 months thank goodness. I know bank of UK helped out RCL and CCL. Hopefully they’ll do the same for NCL if needed since they’re incorporated in Bermuda. Hopefully they all hang on until we get through this and can sail away from the top decks again!!
No balconies no balconies.. what’s the difference? I don’t go on a cruise planning to be quarantined in a ship. The Cabin is the place I spend the least of the time on a cruise.
I think it’s because if they absolutely had to quarantine the ship for an outbreak, people would at least see the outside and get fresh air. Wouldn’t want to be quarantined in an inside cabin for sure.

I agree. I wish they would at least build them with the traditional promenade deck.
Me too, but we're in the minority. Younger families want the rides and activities.
Agree

We invested in both of these companies let's get this vaccine.
Always great updates Bruce 👍🏽
I think empress of the seas maybe awaiting space in the scrapyard , with four recent arrivals .

Thanks for update Bruce! Sad news for cruising.
Bruce, you are the great prognosticator! You called the " No Cruising " until 2021!
Love to borrow one of those for a last spin! Is a transatlantic worthy? Maybe set a new world record.
Thanks for the update Bruce!

Very sad if that's true. We did a b2b2b2b (5 cruises back 2 back) on that ship a couple years ago.
Very sad. Imagination was the first 'Carnival' ship my family and I went on (late 90s). It was brand new back then.
My world cruise for 2021 on Regency 7 Seas is cancelled. Got the E-Mail today.
Fascination will be the 4th Fantasy Class ship to scrap
do you think Carnival will start on November as per schedule? no job for crew...so sad
Nice new UI!

Are you in the marine business? Can you say what you were doing on her?
@@dmproske I took 3 cruises on this ship out of Miami and I tracked it to Freeport and curocio not normal stop's
Sad the Carnival Imagination was the first cruise ship I was ever on.

“Slow motion death” is one way to put it. So sad.
Why is the Pacific Princess, Pacific Aria and Pacific Dawn heading towards cyprus ?
More changes are coming.
Understand the business decisions, but still very sad to see a ship on which you made memories heading to a scrap yard. 😢
Ah, the circle of life...even for cruise ships.

If RCCL scrap Majesty I will HATE them forever. They will loose me as a customer.
Bruce can drag out a video!
Watch out .carnival. rccl.
While u sell ships..
Msc is not selling and growing
That is mostly because for the most part, MSC fleet is much newer, and MSC Cruises has the MSC freight company to back them up.
Sad.
Over jumping the gun. Sad

I hope carnival goes under! I can’t stand that line.
