- With the school year in full swing, there will be some parents grappling with kids who just can't go to school because of crippling anxiety. This phenomenon is known as school refusal and it's a growing problem, exacerbated by school shutdowns during the pandemic. Thank you for making this video!!! We are going through this with our autistic/adhd/sensory processing disorder/and numerous other acronyms. It breaks my heart to see him meltdown the way he does. Ironic that the kids you interviewed and our child are all 11ish years of age.
The idea that kids are "learning" should be looked at. The majority of studies cause kids to cram and memorise large amounts of information, the majority of which is forgotten VERY QUICKLY. The whole system needs an overhaul.
school starts unnecessarily early. Sleep is vital for developing kids/teens AND adults. There's no reason school can't start at 11am.
In the US, there are some high schools that start at 10/11am and finish at 4/5pm
Subjects that involve self expression (art, public speaking, recreational games) should not be graded
Mixing the “normies” with the anxious doesn’t work in school.
There was a movie where a man made a special school for the special and that was called Xmen
