I’m fairly sure the reason SV doesn’t have the PLA catching mechanics is due to them being in development at the same time each with different teams not sharing ideas with each other. The next game might have PLA mechanics but they might just continue on with their mistake like they usually do
And on the shiny jungle, my head cannon is that it was in SV but a bug stoped it from working properly and they just haven’t fixed it because they have no insinuative to and people think it’s a feature. It’s my favorite head cannon

@@Emerald23928Headcanon it sure but we know for a fact it’s not present at all. If it was in the core but unused, like the proper shiny rates in Sword and Shield (square shinies are supposed to be 1/16 but wild Pokemon can only generate as square shinies), it’d have been documented before launch. SV aren’t perfect games but nonexistent glitches don’t have an impact on that.

One thing I noticed and hate is that the Switch has a touch screen function, and Pokemon/Gamefreak does not allow use of it to help organize boxed pokemon or faster select moves during battle.
For the Pokemon TCG, most decks only have a few different types of pokemon to ensure that they always have the right type of energy to attach to their mons. You can imagine that with too many types, some types will have fewer pokemon and simply have too little mons to build a deck with. So they combine types so each type has more options to choose from. Especially important when you consider how rotation in Pokemon TCG means you can only use somewhat recently printed cards
It makes the meta incredibly boring and there's a lack of fun and cheap rogue decks
@@madpsycho6 I mean, the opposite would be committing the same mistake Yugioh committed of making the game so complex and convoluted that being a new/casual player isn't fun at all.
@@toumabyakuya there isn't enough single prize decks that work (don't win tournaments but the point of them is primarily fun) then, I don't want to spend a stupid amount on ex or V/VMax cards just so I can win games. The more single prize decks are suppressed, the more expensive the game becomes with the ex's, I haven't played 2 prizer since the first block of Sun & Moon rotated out.
i mean also when every pokemon only have a single weaknesses and a single type, this making the game so hard for hitting weaknesses and maybe even the mechanic doesn't works at all, for now they almost balanced the numbers of all 10 types of cards is really something balanced the game a bit more for sure.
@@madpsycho6 My problem is that I hate the alternative because I have seen how bad it can be thanks to Yugioh. Basically, most decks must have specific cards otherwise you don't get to play at all because most decks nowadays can draw half their cards in one single turn.

Some of AuraGuardian's takes are painfully cold and seem almost intended to appeal to the unthinking 99% of the Pokemon fandom lol. Pat's takedown of the regular catching mechanics and defense of Let's Go's is a breath of fresh air. Same with his rant against remakes. Excellent.
It also depends heavily on which of the two control methods you used for Let's Go.
The reason PLA doesn’t have PVP is because of the Strong and Agile Style moves. This isn’t a problem for NPCs because you can click a button and see the turn order (which tons of people forgot for some reason.) It is possible that if your Pokémon is fast enough, uses a priority move, and uses Agile Style, you can get 16 hits on someone. I did it to Thundurus with a Quick Attack Pachirisu. The game wouldn’t know whose turn it should be if both players keep sliding through the styles and picking different speeds. In “normal” Pokémon one turn ends when all players do their action, but in PLA a turn passes when one player finishes a single action and that action dictates who goes next.
Trying to implement PVP into a battle system made specifically for single player doesn’t work. If we remove the Styles and treat it like normal, now we just have a normal Pokémon battle with a tiny roster of Pokémon, very small list of usable moves, no abilities or held items, and overall it just wouldn’t be fun.
PLA PvP would either be a speed mess of Ice Shard Weavile landing a 10 hit combo on someone, or just really really boring with zero depth.
You could let people play it with their friends casually, even if it sucks competitively. And do trades.
@@cleverman383 you can already do trades online or locally. And again, only playing against friends via a link code still wouldn’t really be worth the time for development. No one would use it because it’s just unfair at all times. If you’re faster, you just win. That’s basically it. “But you could do house rules, no spamming” but that’s such a small and niche audience that it’s just simply not worth it.

The Liko vs ash debate just seems like boomer mentality.
True: We hated Ash from season 1, Liko was automatically better.
Liko is a fun character so far she does need a bit more development but the serries is currently only 30 episodes in so im sure it will have time to cook
Yeah, bringing in a new protagonists is a better idea than unaging and unchanging Ash. Team Rocket had a lot more charisma than Ash and I want their cameo a lot more than Ash's.

And then has the audacity to call the ultimate hacking deterrent, shiny-locking, which has technically been a thing longer than shinies themselves, a "downgrade" despite it being good for deterring hackers. It's also good for "shiny hunters", as it means less Pokémon to hunt, and therefore, less chance of getting carpal tunnel for a purely cosmetic collection. They are also the only type of player that truly benefits from dex cuts for the same exact reason of having less to pointlessly risk their real world health over.

I really miss the move "Return", and still don't really understand why it had to go. That was my favorite move to put on any of my Normal Type Pokemon, as it was good base power and accuracy, and a move that any Pokemon was able to learn.
Funny how it was removed the same gen they modded and capped the happiness meter with little in game info of the change. All to make happiness utterly broken.

Liko and Roy actually have character development and progress compared to Ash. So, I would not say they are a downgrade at all.

@@ionutnertan Yeah, Horizons actually has an overarching plot. Some of the episodes do feel like the old character of the week formula but on average it is probably one of the best pokemon series we have had. I would put it up there with sun and moon and XY.

A lot of bizzare choices with the models come from lighting issues... 3D models are simply much more difficult to light, so if you have a lot of unique models with their own lighting scales, bright colors and forms, having the colors be less less saturated makes it less noticeable when there are small imperfections, and therefore less taxing to do for the developer, while also letting every model use up slightly less ressources than a brighter model would...
Here's only but one single theory: What if they removed the set battle style in SV because they're looking at Nuzlocke players? In the past (maybe last year) and people that worked on Pokemon did get the bad end of things discussing Nuzlockes from within the company.
My theory on that is that they simply forgot to add that option

Honestly the TCG point is the biggest one I disagree with. Dragon came out and didn't mesh with the game's type interactions at all, then fairy type was added just to add a counter to dragon type, and both of them really just didn't feel like they belong and it felt like they just existed to interact with each other and that's it
Legends arceus and scarlet/violet use different overworld catch mechanics because they were in development at the same time with 2 completely separate teams.
He pretty much got every nerf except one thing from scarlet and violet… THE ONE THING that made gen 6 actually a good game. THE ONE POKÉMON THAT THEY HAD TO RUIN IN SCARLET AND VIOLET. Greninja and Ash-Greninja. RIP my beautiful water frog. RIP.

You know what pokemon games I miss? The pokemon ranger games!! I need a new one in my life 😂
16:09 Hot take, if we got like another remake for like Johto or Unova, I wouldn't mind Let's Go catching returning. When it comes to battles in Pokémon, I think all the action are during trainer, rival, and gym battles. Before, wild battles were random and what you encounter is by chance. I find that these Let's Go catching minigames vastly speed up the pacing for exploration. Catching something doesn't really take much time anyways. I really like exploring in Pokémon games so just being able to avoid the Zubats in the overworld makes the experience so much better. Games after did return wild battles but I don't mind it since they kept Pokémon encounterable by walking to them in the overworld. Legends Arceus almost perfected how you encounter Pokémon. Litterly all they're missing are random battles. I may sound hypocritical there but SWSH did the best of both worlds for nuzlockers by adding random exclamation points in the grass to walk to. Idk why they took them out in PLA or SV. Point is, I don't mind Let's Go catching raplacing the least memorable form of battling. It introduced one of the biggest Qol improvements to the series imo with overworld Pokémon. If it were to comeback, don't force me to use the dreaded joycons and let me use my pro controller.
The catching in Legends Arceus is only in ancient times for 1 reason Pokémon are not as tame as the Pokémon are today instead just wanting to fight they literally want your life.
So if I was there I would won't to sneak and catch them instead of me getting oofed.
I liked Ash as the protagonist of the anime, but i also like Liko and Roy. But i still wished they would go for a Pokemon Adventures Anime, this would become one of my favorite Animes. I wanna see Ruby and Sapphires Romance, the funny trio of generation 4 and the heartbreak of black(victory road).
The reason why S&V don’t have the shiny noise is because it’s all one giant world that can render for billions of pixels so it would pick up a shiny from half way across the map
That's not really an excuse. In Legends Arceus every pokemon is generated when you enter the map, but they pop up when you're near them and make the noise. They could have the same system in SV, since you don't need to render pokemon from the other side of the map.
We are waiting for the true form of kyurem, zekrom, and reshiram, so there has to be a black and white 3 or grey

Those essays are pointless, because prior to gen 6, all shinies were procedurally generated. I believe that the only reason they didn't alter old ones that were ugly and/or had minimal differences is to maintain some semblance of familiarity. The essays should instead try and justify poorly designed shinies in vain that debuted in or after generation 6, not gen 2-5 shinies that will probably never change.

Tbf most people don't watch the anime, me included and probably neither does the Aura Guardian, he's just saying something based on his attachment to Ash even though he probably isn't even gonna watch the new anime either way to see what they're like
@@LucasF25 they've seriously upped their game, the characters are likeable, and not complete idiots... and it has another strong point. The Anime made me DESPISE Pikachu for years... but the new series? It has possibly the Coolest Pikachu they've ever made, and now I actually LIKE it again. And I've hated it since the Gen3 anime.
The writing and Pacing are better, the Characters actually have, surprisingly, Adult supervision, And Best of all, The End theme Was inspired by something from the American Version of the original Anime. It's a Newer Version of the Poke-rap.
I usually don't recommend the anime, but the new one is that good.

For me Kanto is not Postgame because Johto is way to short to reach the length of most of the other pokemon games gold and silver needs 2 regions. Mt Silver is for me the post game.

I‘m very happy the Legends catching mechanic didn‘t move into the main game. It‘s a nice detour, but I wouldn‘t want the old system of battling the Pokemon to disappear in favor of something, that incentivises capturing multiple of the same Pokémon like that.
Compromise: bring back the Safari Zone and have that be like Legends!
DP remakes had so much potential, but BDSP was just a total waste. I do understand that it was just to kill time until Legends came out, but imagine if they let Gen8 run for another year and we got some combination of Platinum's fixes/Legends lore/its own unique character upgrades and story additions.
Literally, a niche mobile game like Masters has given me more content that I had wanted from a DP remake than the actual $60 console game did. That's honestly kind of pathetic.

I think you cant consider area 0 as postgame since it happens within the primary story, and prior to end credits. The real postgame of scar/vio is actually the star tournament, gym leader rematches, the 4 legendaries (which technically can be gotten as soon as the lizard can do all of his skills so actually this isnt specifically postgame either), and access to 6 star raids. Thats it.
I've seen too many people want the anime to still follow Ash. Like Jesus christ, the dude has been 10 since 1997. I'll admit, I fell off the anime around Sinnoh, but I heard some of the later stuff was good, and I wouldn't mind going back at some point. HOWEVER, Horizons has been doing a good job so far. It's got a lot of charm and I like that it's got an overarching plot going instead of rinse-and-repeat the gym challenge for literal years. Not saying it's groundbreaking, but it getting flak for not having Ash is ridiculous.
When i got covid in 2022 i got back into the anime with the sun and moon series forward for the first time in like 10 years, just kept watching for some quick laughs when i was sad or just wanted to relax. Only seen pieces of horizons so far but the characters actually seem pretty good
My first game was Diamond. I've prefered Platinum ever since I played it
I like Rotation Battle more than Triple Battle, since it require different kind of mind games
Triple battles are my favorite type of battle. Only time I ever put considerable amount of time in playing online. They were so much fun
I remember the catching mechanic in Let’s Go had a lot of problems because you had to angle the controller at time but the often times you couldn’t get it angled right because of the design. That or there was some other bug that I can’t remember properly.
I will admit that I also prefer to weaken my opponent before catching it. However, I do like the thought of having an option to use motion to throw a pokeball
Also, I would like to say that instead of remakes, how about you make games with backwards compatibility. I love a lot of older pokemon games but without the backwards compatibility, I can’t play them anymore. At least my 3DS systems are still in good condition and can play my old DS games, but it won’t last forever.

I think they remove stuff like the shift/set option and won't allow custom battle rules/timers because GF is trying to be like a Railroady DM in DnD.

I don't think Mr.Pat has picked up that Pokemon releases have all pretty much been in an organized order with there releases and Remakes thus far. Currently next we should be getting a Johto remake if they keep following this said order.
(By the way the order has been Kanto, Johto again, Hoenn, Kanto again, Sinnoh, Johto, Unova, Unova 2 (sequels are exceptions), the X and Y place, Hoenn again, Sun and Moon, SaM2, Kanto again again, Sword and Shield, Sinnoh again, Bonus Sinnoh and now Scarlet and Violet.)
The saddest part about shiny locking is you know it's almost certainly because they get brand sponsor money to have a FOMO event codes at your local gamestop/mcdonalds for those shiny locked mons

I didn't even know it was apparently changed until I watched this video.
When shinies were harder to get people used them for bragging rights and they glazed over that it was a grind that took 12 hours a day for 4 months and they now have carpal tunnel. Now shinies are accessible to more people which makes the game more fun for a lot as it gives a new reason to keep playing. I was only a casual shiny hunter for years but ever since SV I do it all the time. I'll never understand the people complaining about it so much because you just know they want to be like "Haha look at me and my shiny! Oh? You don't have a shiny? Well too bad ahahahaha!! Look at me, I'm so cool!"

Delphox was downgraded in the very same generation it came out. Just take a look at how Delphox looks in the anime or in the concept art. Is a pokemon filled with personality and elegance, yet in the games Delphox just A poses.

Typhlosion was a huge downgrade but now it was fixed thankfully!
Pokemon tcg tried to add another type in fairy and it got discontinued. Just cant fit it in the game due to how energy works and also printing and sets and adding more may ruin the game 😂.

Honestly i still want gen 5 remakes as unlike brilliant Diamond and shinning pearl.
They didn't get a 3rd version, but sequals instead which makes Remaking Gen 5 a better option as base Black and white are already fantastic games.
So even if they just got a graphical upgrades like Gen 4 did its still a great game to play, it just wont be like the other remakes that came before with Hoenn and Johto.
So i do want Gen 5 remakes.
