I was at this show. A school mate and I had hitched to Florida from Rochester NY. On the way back we stopped in Manhattan. We found out that the Patti Smith Group was playing the Capital in Passaic NJ. We found our way there, bought tickets went in the show and I was hooked. I hitched back to NYC about a month or two later to catch the Palladium shows. Then later in the summer to catch the central park show in the pouring rain. What a great time. Great memories. Each show I saw was completely different....spontaneous in which the energy was drawn directly from the emotions the band was feeling at the time. It was so far away from being choreographed.
Saw this tour at The Paramount Northwest (Seattle). Their gear got stolen the last day before so Patty used a 25th anniversary strat. How could such a diminutive person play a bowling ball strat? .... but she did and nailed it!!
DISAPOINTING......... VERY LACK LUSTURE..... I would of expected a much more powerful proformance from Patti. This was a down-grage of the Byrds version.... Better not to have done it..... Not often I critisise Ms. Smith.
