UPDATE: When I filmed this video my DJI Mic 2 didn't seem to work when I connected it to my phone (which is odd as it usually does), but I just realised it was because my phone case hadn't allowed the RX to be fully inserted - I completely forgot to even check it 🙃 I know, what a fail on my part! 🤦🏾♀ But I've since tried it again and the mic does work, so you don't have to hold your phone to record audio; maintaining that hands-free approach, but the audio still doesn't sound great. I'll do a follow-up so you can hear it.
apparently, dji mic 2 can be connected to the phone via bluetooth too. not sure if they've added this recently or if it was always there, you just need to hold the link button on the dji mic 2 until the blue LED starts blinking quicker, indicating pairing mode. just waiting for the neo to arrive, to test if it will work recording the audio this way, as it seems to be iffy with the regular camera app.
@@geosol19 Yeah, in general with the DJI Mic 2 connected to the phone via Bluetooth, the audio quality, in my opinion, sounds poor in comparison to using the RX ua-cam.com/video/XEDV7FXdCVQ/v-deo.htmlsi=vHeyfzaCnixNbOxA
I really feel DJI are testing the waters with this drone... on one hand it serves as an inexpensive vlogger cam / capturing quick moments, and on the other hand, it is a mini Avata 2 / tiny whoop, tickling the fancy of a rookie fpv. But DJI are definitely onto something here, especially if they can nail down the video quality... I do envision a Neo Pro series in the (near) future. Yes, likely more expensive, but a drone with mini Pro video quality output. This drone is just the start.
What's unfortunate is that it seems you can't remove the noise of the drone if you record the audio directly on the Mic 2. That could let you go completely hands free.
In my opinion, this isn't made for bloggers or UA-camrs; it's more for people taking it on vacation or capturing moments with their family or at parties.
I pre ordered one, it's an entry drone, for the day to day person, the person who isn't a content creator and just wants to get in the door, and have fun at family events and trips, for the everyday person the video quality is the least of ones worries as long as it's not pixelated. I do understand the content creator disappointment or lack of enthusiasm for this though.
Great video! Nicely summarized. After watching a ton of UA-cam videos, I bought one. Here’s who it’s for: - people who are new to drones. It’s easy and safe to fly, even for supervised kids - travellers who carry backpacks and want to limit weight (135 grams vs 755 grams with MP4+RC2) and expense. Clearly the weakest parts of Neo are the video quality and the gimbal. For IG or YT vloggers, this might not matter much.
@@EricGibaud Didn't I see another review that spelled out some important settings to change when you first get the drone? One of them dealt with lowering a sharpness via the phone app to produce a more satisfying video quality.
Years ago I watched a blind study where everyday folk were asked to compare the sound from a $20,000 Harmon Kardon audio system & a $250 stereo from Sears. Most participants chose the inexpensive Sears system as the better of the two. Point being, most folks care more about the content vs the quality of the image. You'll get a lot more views capturing a UFO at 1080 than you will recording a park overflight at 4K. If viewing on a large format 4K monitor the 4K looks better, but most viewers are watching on their relatively small phone screen.
I’m not following your analogy. One would assume the two speaker systems were tested by the same music being played in the same acoustic setting. It’s well known that particularly in older analogue speaker technology, there were so many variables to consider. Popular music played on a cheaper system designed to reproduce that relatively limited range of dynamics, will sound better. To reproduce the range of dynamics that are to be found in a large Orchestra a different approach is required in order to accurately reproduce the range of sounds and the ambience of a concert hall. The difference between 1080 and 4K video is discernible on a phone as much as it is a large Monitor. However most people use TV’s with Rec. 709 colour space , simply because the price of sets using wider colour gamuts makes them very prohibitive to develop and sell. So for most people there is a common viewing experience because size of reproduction of the image is not that variable particularly when considering the colour output. Phone cameras are generally poor despite the claims made by manufacturers, the pixel count is not the main thing that determines the quality of the output from inferior lenses . In general terms and with regard to video generally, there are codes for the camera and the post production processes. Each has to be designed to match the other. These codes are translated into recording modes like Log and Raw formats, and those for post production like LUTs. Logarithmic footage is very flat but it contains more detail of the scene. It’s not intended to be viewed as a final product. The purpose is to capture highlights, shadows and whites with the highest range of precision by getting the most out of the camera’s dynamic range. The colour is mostly missing and has to be added by colour grading of the Log footage. Videographers use Log in order to obtain the best detail in shadows and all other details because they know they can regenerate the colour. Rec.709 is a standard for HD tv. It’s a common language for how colours, brightness and technical details are displayed. It provides consistent video experiences across different TVs monitors and projectors. A 4K video shot in Log such as D Log M - on the Osmo Pocket 3 that is properly processed is going to be superior to a video shot in 1080. Comparing Audio from speakers from years ago with inputs to modern video formats and to also assume most viewers are watching on small phone screens is not a valid conclusion to draw.
The phone app needs - 16:9 grid for vertical video - PAL settings - sharpness settings. I still think most people will only use the tracking thing once out of the box. I want a small drone that won't hurt anyone or anything if it crashes and I want my phone to control it and neo will do that.
I’m definitely getting one of these. I’ve never had a drone and I’ve never had any interest in a drone, but the fact that I can buy this and fly it in the city I live in with very little knowledge of drones and have it follow me and fly around me and land in my palm?! And for 200 bucks!! This is for people like me. Zero drone experience, always been curious, excited to try it. I’m thrilled this exists. Thank you for the review! This is (so far) the only must have thing my Christmas list!
I think the real point of this drone is just for tracking and not carrying around a controller etc. Simple and easy to carry and use. No fuss or time to set it up. For that purpose I think it is a great drone, largely for short clips on social media or UA-cam. The 4K is ok on a sunny day and will likely improve with firmware. I am personally very tempted, but two challenges for me: I can’t stand the whiny pitch AND there is almost nowhere here (B.C. Canada) where you can fly a drone of any size, other than your back yard. No National, Provincial or municipal parks allow drones, so most of our outdoor areas are off limits. Yes, there are some undeveloped forested areas, or some other areas in the mountains, but often these are parks . I think that your summary is quite fair. Still, the simplicity and low cost make it tempting! But it’s so whiny!
@@TamaraGabrielUK the mini 3 pro is measured at 53 dB at 10 meters, so quite quiet. Someone measured the Neo and it was over 80, but to be fair it was much closer than 10 meters. Curious to see what the Neo ends up at in the same test. In the context of decibels, it a logarithmic increase and that means that every 10-decibel rise results in a sound that is 10 times more intense.
Great review. I think you are absolutely right about the pros and cons of this drone. I mean if you are just using it to film yourself, you might as well just use your action camera on a longer selfie stick, right?. I think it's a great little package if with the fly more because you can then use it like a normal drone and adjust it, but then the price increases and one starts to wonder if it is worth bothering with or better to get one of the mini series drones, that fly longer and have better cameras. But I have to say I did see somebody using one of these as an fpv drone and they managed to attach a mini action cam successfully to this neo drone. Etc.
I love the ease of use an the small form factor of the Neo. I expect to be carrying it with me much more often and therefore be using it more often than my previous drone just because of that. The best tool is of no use if you don't have it at hand when you need it.
Great review, calm and informative. I have bought one to see if adding a drone to my already too large range of gear is worthwhile. It will be used on walking/scrambling trips so ease of use and portability won over high quality footage which concurs with your thoughts on it being good for 1st time drone users.
Love the honesty! Great not to see just another DJI fan vlog. I live near the beach, so this is the perfect drone to pull out when taking a random dip or walk. As they say, the best camera/drone is what you have on you.
Great review. They features and abilities are great, but this is the first honest review talking about the quality of the video. I have seen comments about the video, but no creator I follow talked about the quality outside of saying it has 4k or good quality. Knowing dji though, they might fix that with firmware.
I ordered the Neo. Yes, the video quality will probably get a Firmware update. I got this to do programed shots while I'm on the go. Drone footage is soooo good to level up social media content. I love that I don't always need the remote or have to connect it to the app. I'm guessing a Neo 2 is better, but I can just put this in my bag and always have the ability for drone footage at my fingertips. I'm currently on the Mini 2 & may get the Mini 4 if there's a sale.
Great video and review, first time viewer! Curious if can plugin a lapel mic w sync? Crazy to me they can’t make this super lightweight drone way more quiet. Prob going to get especially since can use my Mini2 RC
I suspect that DJI rushed the release of the NEO to scrape up as much $ as possible before the new Hoverair X1 Pro/ Pro Max come out next month. They knew people would rush to buy it even though it wasn't ready but would be fixed in future updates.
That's no problem at all, the Neo works well. We call it Scrum and MVP( minimal viable product). Next year after gathering client feedback and see what competitors do, they will come with a better Neo. For now it is working well
You can pair the DJI Mic2 to your phone and get better audio. You can also record directly into the Mic2 and then sync later. Obviously an extra step, but at least yuo'll have decent audio....as long as the the drone is far enough not to hear the engine noise. But to your point, if you're just doing A-oll from a few feet away, better off just using a different camera. I think a nice use case is to record on your Pocket 3 and have the drone follow you as a seocndary cam. :)
Thank you, really! Image quality was exactly what I was curious about and you explained it perfectly! I was hoping to find someone who’d honestly talk about this and you delivered 100%! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Hi, good review,I watched one of your videos a long time ago,and it's lovely to see how well you are doing, I really appreciate honest reviews as these are getting hard to find on UA-cam. Hope your channel keeps going from strength to strength 😊
@@TamaraGabrielUK hi, just got my neo this morning,I already have the avatar 1 & mini 3 , everything you said in your review was spot on.i bought mine to use with the kids,it's funny it does feel more like a toy than my other drones.
Thank you for the honest review. I think a self-flying drone without any obstacle detection / avoidance ist pretty much limited in the use-cases. I wait for the Hover X1 Pro.
Thanks for the thoughtful review! I’ve been on the fence about the Neo, as I love the idea of a hassle free drone with 4K capability, but the lack of colour profile options is a dealbreaker for me, especially after hearing your thoughts about the quality of the footage. Thanks again for sharing your opinions 😊
Great review 👍 I think this is a case of 'horses for courses'. I own a DJI Mini 3 Pro but I have just ordered the Neo for easy, 'out of the box', fun flying. I'm not worried about super quality video as I can get that from the Mini 3 Pro, but the Neo still offers 4k. The Neo is a budget friendly, easy to use, lightweight, feature packed little drone, perfect for beginners or for chucking in a bag for holidays and filming the kids etc. IMO, I don't think we should be trying to compare the Neo with the much more expensive DJI drones or expect the same quality. BTW, I believe you said that the Neo Fly More combo retails at less than $200? The basic, one battery Neo costs that, the Fly More combo is quite a bit more expensive.
Yes, I just returned mine after seeing the footage too. I tried every single trick in the book to enhance the image to at least some standard but just didn't work. The principal idea of this drone is ace. Just have to wait till the Neo gets a 10bit log setting.
I have the DJI Mini 2, I was tempted to get this as a motovlogger, it's a lot more convenient being able to just get the drone out and instantly have it flying rather than messing about setting up my main drone. I think I will pass on this for now, but it does look like a very handy little drone.
All your points are fair, and well considered. As to legitimate concern over video quality - its economics. Changing image quality could double or triple the cost. Perhaps a Neo Pro @ $450 might be the way forward, keeping Neo for lesser requirements 🤔
Completely agree I got one on Saturday today is Tuesday and I’ve just sent it back. Don’t get me wrong it’s okay but image and noise are the deal breaker.
Thanks. I filmed the video with my Sony A7s III and the 16-35mm f2/.8 GM. Shot in Slog3 and graded with FilmConvert Nitrate. Also had a Freewell VND/Mist filter.
I'm a noob and all but A) don't they sell shirt mics, and B) isn't this for B roll and action shots? For things that a rolling tripod would and wouldn't be good enough for? Terrain or spaces a tripod system would just be in the way for?
Please correct me if I'm wrong. DJI are advertising the NEO, that connecting either via the mic 2 or your phone you get clean audio which takes out the sound of the motors.
Interesting comments and review as usual. With regard to sound quality you can pair the DJI mic2 with your phone and then record through that…I’d be interested in your comments on that, whether you think that’s an improvement.
That's my main problem with the DJI Neo, from the footage I've seen online and from other reviewers the image quality is just not there. At times it looks like video you can get from a cheap action cam. Kind of surprising since this is a DJI product. This seems to be made for first time drone users that don't care much for video quality.
spot on , it is for first timers to use to catch holiday snaps etc , too many expecting so much for so little , look at the first instant photographs from cameras such as Polaroid , they were crap but were popular with people who just wanted a quick memory pic without the pro hassle .
This was a really great video. Although it’s not for you, many of the aspects you mentioned make it kinda perfect for me. The other drones are a bit more expensive and I really just want a drone for some atmospheric B-roll and something that does most of the work for me. Mainly for short clips, reels and UA-cam. I actually don’t think, at least at first that I’ll want to do much controlling and will probably use voiceovers so the audio issue isn’t important. Thank you so much for your down to basics storytelling!
Great video I appreciate an honest opinion that actually talks about the negative of the product . I will buy the neo because I do journalism of protest and events I need to get super quick shots without a controller or setup also the drone is durable and can easily fit in my bag, video quality is not so important to me I have a dji mini 3 pro but the setup and controller make me not want to use it for a lot of my work in fast paced environments.
Tamara Good evening, first of all, great video, you explained the characteristics of the NEO very well... I believe that image quality is really a point to consider in this type of equipment... I believe that due to the limited amount of internal memory and also the Bitrate itself that DJI decided to add to this product, in the end the image quality was compromised... It has a larger sensor than, for example, a mini 2 but it seems to me that it has aggressive processing making the image bad .. but they can update the firmware to adjust this, as for bitrare I believe it will be maintained precisely so that we can maintain the 40 minutes of recording in 4K 30
I already have an Avata 2, and so I planned to try the Neo on the goggles. I'm hoping that once you set the sharpness and NR, it stays. I think the size and tracking features are what's attracting me to Neo, but what good is it if the video looks like it came from a 2010 cell phone? I probably won't keep it if it still sucks after making adjustments. (Though I'm wondering what would happen if you tried to put a Go Pro Bones on it.)
Great video as ever. I’ve bought one simply as a bit of fun & to grab some quick shots of family days out. If expectations are set much above that, then disappointment is incoming! (but I don’t think that’s where it’s pegged).
It's a tiny whoop it's not handling 14mph wind. It's not meant for professionals. It's meant for the beginner or a person that wants cool drone shots without dropping over 1k on a mini 4 pro. I bought it because it's a tiny whoop with excellent battery life. The 04 transmission system means reception through walls should be good. I own the avata 1 and 2. The neo is for acro and ripping around in the house when it's super cold in ohio. Plus when it's following you it tries to take the path you take instead of just keeping you in frame. Pretty cool for a 200 dollar selfie drone.
I bought it with the goggles, everything else flies too fast for my old brain to keep up with 😂, at 70 its perfect, slow enough for me to enjoy without destroying a drone lol
Great video, as always. Kind of niche question that I haven't found an answer to elsewhere: If you attach the controller to access the sharpness setting (and turn down the awful over-sharpening), does the drone "remember" those settings for future flights WITHOUT the controller? I would ideally set the sharpening to -2 on the controller but then most often would use a drone like this just with the auto modes and no controller. I have seen footage at sharpness -2 and it looks much better (still not great). Thanks for the detailed review!
I have the mini 4 pro and shoot with Sony cameras, so quality is important. But do you think this would still have a place for the odd shot where using the pro 4 is not possible or convenient? I’m considering the value of adding this to my kit, especially as the price is low. We see phone footage in documentaries and films, so perhaps ‘capturing’ is now becoming more important than ‘cinematic’. I also think most people watching videos on UA-cam don’t view for quality, they view for the story.
I think that depends on you and it will really come down to what you prioritise. I completely agree that capturing the shot is the most important if it's a shot that would otherwise be missed. However, for me, If I can get that shot by another means and get higher quality footage at the same, I'll always try for the high quality approach. But if the "lower" quality option was all I had to hand, then yeah it'd do and I'd still use the shot.
Glad I waited to see your video before ordering. The footage quality is surprising to me as well-I would have expected the Osmo Pocket 3's quality. Love what I get stock out of that camera. Fingers crossed that DJI will take user feedback and release a v2 with the Osmo Pocket's quality. That's basically all I want, but in a pocket drone form factor. Likely would necessitate a price hike...but for better quality footage, it's worth it to me.
Hi where do you fly in London? I think neo is great because no flying restrictions, if you buy the mavic etc there's to much rules to get in, also UK drone laws are very strict, it's a every day family fun drone, my Mavic has been sitting for last couple years only because there isn't a place to fly it.
I was waiting for Hover X1 Pro or Pro Max. However they are charging 3 to 4 times the price of Neo. For the price point of Hover X1 & X1 Pro Max, I will prefer getting a Mini 4 Pro or wait for the next iteration of Mini Pro drones. For an occasional capturing of video! I personally think Neo is a fantastic handy drone. Best example would be to use it with my sons while cycling or going for an e-scooter rides, or while running across a local natural trail. Also I recently visited Europe ( France, Germany, Switzerland and Italy) and there are just so many restrictions on drone flying these days that I didn't even feel like flying my Mini 4 Pro even though I had a license. Overall, I won't write off Neo for the quality of video it captures and the audio it gives out with DJI Mic 2. For the kind of experience it provides, I am ready to sacrifice a bit of quality ( also considering the low end price).
Thanks. Great review. This feels very much a targeted market. I wonder how many will buy this and then just not use it after a while because I can see it feeling very old very quickly. Other beginner drones with less automated modes will actually be more useful in the long term. Great for people wanting to quickly play with a drone maybe aren’t aren’t interested in long term hobby investment. Fun for sure though.
@@carlsberxithub3711well. You are right, settings could be adjusted in remote. But you need to use the remote. Whole point of this drone to use it alone or in conjunction with your phone. As far as I understand, if you adjust settings with remote, the settings are only active while you are using remote. If you use the drone alone, the settings revert to default settings. ( happy to be wrong).
Thanks for honesty. I’ve watched other reviews and you can tell that DJI dictated how the review should go. You’d swear by some of the reviews that this drone was better than the Mavic 3 Pro! It’s really annoying. Anyway….i have the mini 4 pro so I don’t see the need for this personally.
Really wanted this to leave in my camera bag all the time as it's so small, and control via the phone, but the video quality isn't good enough for what I would need it for. I mainly use the DJI Mini 4 Pro for my work to get a few nice establishing shots etc. But if I'm traveling light on the train I sometimes leave it at home because I can't fit the controller in. It's a shame the video quality isn't really good enough for paid client work, but if they do a pro model with a better camera I'll pick one up!
Personally, I would’ve spent $400-500 on the same product if it had better image quality. It’s literally worse than smart phones. And for that reason, I’m going with the Hover Air X1 Promax
Thanks for your honest review and if you find a way to connect the dji mic 2 transmitter with the neo please share the method with us. Just bought a neo Fly more combo and very interested to have good audio to my videos. I'm just at beginning with drones and neo is enough for the moment
If you do another video on it, could you show us footage with the remote with the sharpness reduced? I actually have the neo but i don't have the controller yet. I'm not too sure over sharpening is the only problem.
Hi Tamara, the DJI Neo, ummm....all you said makes 100% sense, for me I own a Mavic 2 Zoom and just recently the mini 4 pro, TBH...the camera on the zoom is good and quality wise I would like to know if both if both the zoom and neo have the same image quality because I know, if the scene has a lot of light and I love a great scenic view and blue skies and all that the image is quite good. when days are not so sunny and nice, the picture is quite dull and I imagine it must be the same is for the Neo. I have taken the mini 4 pro out and it's camera is much much better than the zoom, I'm still yet to try it with a nice sunset scene to know just how good it is vs the zoom but so far I've heard good things on that front. The other thing I'm curious is how does it perform as an FPV drone? Can that be a good enough reason to own the Neo if you already have a great photography drone but you also want to try FPV?
video from my Neo looks better to me than the video from my mavic 2 Zoom , I never was happy with the Zooms video , I only bought it for the zoom function but I should have bought the mavic 2 with its better camera.
I think I I’d buy this if it was possible to change the quality settings in the app, but I suspect DJI are looking for people to spend the extra $$$ to do it. After seeing so many reviews, I think I’ll stick with my Hover X1 until such time as it changes.
Agree on image quality. The launch video they released had it looking like a professional drone which was naughty. I think it is slightly better than the X1 and has more dynamic range but like you I was expecting better from a very established camera company. I can see it being popular with social media users who want their first drone. But saying that it can't film portrait which is a bit of an oversight.
NEO 2 PRO with 1inch sensor sounds good to wait for my purchase. I am more curious to know how is that neck mount worked out? been thinking to get one.
The neck mount is good. I think the only thing I have an issue with at times is my hands not being far away enough to meet the minimum focusing distance when I'm doing something, so some shots are a bit soft. But otherwise, I like it and it's comfortable to wear.
I was dissapointed too i got it last week i fell for the slick advertising but i will use for personal use and behind the scenes but i cant use it for much
Something I thought about even when the hover air came out. If it’s meant to be for vlogging why on earth didn’t the developers add the hands free audio. This is the first review I’ve seen Tamara, that mentions this 👍 DJI already have the technology in other cameras. No doubt down to cost. But if Vlogging is the market they are aiming it at surely it’s a no brainer!
I’m a bit disappointed that I can’t adjust the sharpness and noise settings without a remote controller. I specifically got the DJI Neo because I wanted to keep my setup minimal-just the drone and my smartphone when traveling or hiking. Fingers crossed they’ll add these settings to the DJI Fly app in a future (firmware) update. If the DJI Neo could also shoot in D-Log M, it would completely outshine all the other drones in its price range.
@@xBox360BENUTZERThanks for your comment. I’m not certain if the Neo’s hardware supports 10-bit color grading. However, if it’s 8-bit, adding a Cine-Like or another generic flat color profile would still be an improvement and more than good enough for me.
What don’t you like about the image quality? I think I’ve heard some people say it looks too sharp, but I think you can change that with the remote now.
Yeah I mentioned in the video that you can use the remote to adjust sharpness and denoise, but that doesn’t really help much for the overall quality of the footage.
@@TamaraGabrielUK LOL what you looking for professional quality? Dude its cheap the video ia good enough for me, not too bad and not too fcked up. You guys exagerated much and make the issue!! Most participants chose the inexpensive Sears system as the better of the two. Point being, most folks care more about the content vs the quality of the image.
Yup same like me. First time drone user & the price is a no brainer
I can definitely say that the sound of it draws attention. The Mini 3 Pro is quieter for sure.
Mine arrived yesterday. I was concerned about the noise. It’s higher pitched than my MP4 but not as bad loud as I thought it would be.
😂😂😂you mean to say Canada is slowly becoming a communist/socialist country😂 you deserve who you voted for
Great review.
Etc.
Nice that someone give a honest review
I love the ease of use an the small form factor of the Neo. I expect to be carrying it with me much more often and therefore be using it more often than my previous drone just because of that. The best tool is of no use if you don't have it at hand when you need it.
@@WillisKeeper ideal for the backpack type adventure
Great review, calm and informative. I have bought one to see if adding a drone to my already too large range of gear is worthwhile. It will be used on walking/scrambling trips so ease of use and portability won over high quality footage which concurs with your thoughts on it being good for 1st time drone users.
Love the honesty! Great not to see just another DJI fan vlog. I live near the beach, so this is the perfect drone to pull out when taking a random dip or walk. As they say, the best camera/drone is what you have on you.
DJI has totally left the door open for Neo Pro - good video and review thanks for posting
Perfect analysis and made the purpose of NEO very clear and I will definitely wait for NEO PRO.
Thank you very much for another amazing video.
We love you Tamara. I was waiting for your review on this and you delivered it well 😊
Great video and review, first time viewer! Curious if can plugin a lapel mic w sync? Crazy to me they can’t make this super lightweight drone way more quiet. Prob going to get especially since can use my Mini2 RC
You’re definitely the uks best tech reviewer
I really, really like your reviews - I think you are fab!
Thanks! ☺️
Is it possible to show comparison with other dji done footage with neo footage
Very well explained
Hi, good review,I watched one of your videos a long time ago,and it's lovely to see how well you are doing, I really appreciate honest reviews as these are getting hard to find on UA-cam.
Hope your channel keeps going from strength to strength 😊
Thanks, Darren 😊
@@TamaraGabrielUK hi, just got my neo this morning,I already have the avatar 1 & mini 3 , everything you said in your review was spot on.i bought mine to use with the kids,it's funny it does feel more like a toy than my other drones.
Thanks for the review. The second version of this will be awesome and will correct the flaws of this one
Perfect drone for my kids!
but your kids won't be allowed to fly without your presence...
@@TripleU-E no problem!
Yes, I just returned mine after seeing the footage too. I tried every single trick in the book to enhance the image to at least some standard but just didn't work. The principal idea of this drone is ace. Just have to wait till the Neo gets a 10bit log setting.
lmao this is a 200€ entry drone, you wont be getting 10bit.
Great review! Out of curiosity, what camera did you film this with? It looks great!
Correct. The audio is clean-ish and flat. 2:03
Interesting comments and review as usual. With regard to sound quality you can pair the DJI mic2 with your phone and then record through that…I’d be interested in your comments on that, whether you think that’s an improvement.
Good video by the way. Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic review and feedback for DJI to consider for their next product
Naughty DJI, you got our hopes up with this one. Big shame! Love the content Tamara!
I really liked the Neo, despite the low quality of the videos 👍🏻
It has a larger sensor than, for example, a mini 2 but it seems to me that it has aggressive processing making the image bad .. but they can update the firmware to adjust this, as for bitrare I believe it will be maintained precisely so that we can maintain the 40 minutes of recording in 4K 30
stick a small usb c memory card thumb drive in the rear and it will use that to record on, as much as you like.
@@uptowndisco2I didn't know that was possible. I will test. thanks
Thanks for the detailed review!
it does not carry the sharpness settings over when using a phone only .
@@uptowndisco2 thank you for the heads up
I find the color grading from the drone more to my liking, as yours appears slightly muted in comparison.
is this need calibration everytime before flight? and needs wifi to operate this? thanks.
Love all your videos! I’m a beginner and I was hoping to get a little help on how to pair my pocket 3 mic to the Neo drone? Can you please advise?
I always try to search for your videos because they will be genuine reviews ❤
Finally some honesty 😮
Seems like it would also benefit from being able to use waypoint and map out a shoot before you go.
Thank you for mentioning this, that was my first thought, the video quality looks worse than my old DJI Spark which only did 1080p, why is it so bad?
Thanks for honest review. It’s has some perks and maybe the next version add sd card slot and OTA updates will help
stick a small usb c memory card in the rear and it will use that to record on, as much as you like.
Great vid. Thankyou
You can change it on your phone, also get fitters.
Is this raw footage of DJI or have you adjusted already sharpness and noise reduction of the footage?
The same happened to me, the video quality is terrible. I hope DJI can “fix” this with a software update.
Pictures are incredible terrible
LOL ive seen review of it with promising quality. FYI you can adjust the sharpeness, exposure, etc. Using the remote.....
@@carlsberxithub3711 I haven’t seen a review, I got it on my own
@@carlsberxithub3711well.
@@VT2000-s2f ive also seen doing without remote and tge quality is still good
Thanks for honesty.
The footage of the drone looked good to me.
Personally, I would’ve spent $400-500 on the same product if it had better image quality. It’s literally worse than smart phones. And for that reason, I’m going with the Hover Air X1 Promax
This should have been a flying phone. most 2nd tier phones give better quality.
Gracias por tus consejos 😊
Great information, thanks
Thanks for your honest review and if you find a way to connect the dji mic 2 transmitter with the neo please share the method with us. Just bought a neo Fly more combo and very interested to have good audio to my videos. I'm just at beginning with drones and neo is enough for the moment
Thanks for the honest review!!! I’ll wait for the pro version or gen 2.
Hey Tamara!! What tripod are you using to attach your pocket3?!! Thanks! 0:29
Hi, this is the one I use geni.us/vgwXA58
If you do another video on it, could you show us footage with the remote with the sharpness reduced? I actually have the neo but i don't have the controller yet.
I'm not too sure over sharpening is the only problem.
I could do, but over-sharpening isn’t the only issue with the quality of the footage.
@@TamaraGabrielUK yes I agree. To me it doesn't even look anywhere near 4k.
Looks fine on a phone screen. Where 99.999% of people watch these videos
50 K yay!

@@TamaraGabrielUK thank you for your feedback, hopefully a better action cam coming up with closer focus and maybe, just maybe... an auto focus
Can they improve image quality through update???
It's mainly for broll imo. I will be definitely getting one soon
Audio it can connect while using your phone. About neo 4k, what is differ using 4K from mini 3 or 4 Pro?
I was dissapointed too i got it last week i fell for the slick advertising but i will use for personal use and behind the scenes but i cant use it for much
Something I thought about even when the hover air came out. If it’s meant to be for vlogging why on earth didn’t the developers add the hands free audio. This is the first review I’ve seen Tamara, that mentions this 👍 DJI already have the technology in other cameras. No doubt down to cost. But if Vlogging is the market they are aiming it at surely it’s a no brainer!
Another great video
I’m waiting for the hover x1 pro max. I think that’s the one to have.
But it will cost you a lot more!
The drone cant do d-log m, this isnt something that can be added with a software update it would need different hardware in this case
@@xBox360BENUTZERThanks for your comment. I’m not certain if the Neo’s hardware supports 10-bit color grading. However, if it’s 8-bit, adding a Cine-Like or another generic flat color profile would still be an improvement and more than good enough for me.
NICE TEST ❤❤❤

What don’t you like about the image quality? I think I’ve heard some people say it looks too sharp, but I think you can change that with the remote now.

Yeah I mentioned in the video that you can use the remote to adjust sharpness and denoise, but that doesn’t really help much for the overall quality of the footage.
