Phenomenal job Rob. Very nice. These cars look so much better with drivers than seeing a cab full of wires. Mark will have to get one now. Great video.
That was my thought and didn't want to smoke the windows either. Thanks for the fantastic comment. Just have to say what a brilliant video your last one was. Took me right back to when I was a nipper watching Grandstand to see if there was any motor racing. The beetle looks really good, think I'll have to get one someday.
Did mine today. It's a proper day's job, isn't it? I think it really puts the finishing touch to my Audi Quottro. Fitting the LEDs tomorrow. As it's a TT02 chassis I also need to cover the travel trap under the steerage. Fitted oil shocks last night. What a huuuge difference. No bounce at all!!!!!
The shocks are definitely the first upgrade on any of the kits that come with friction shocks, as far as I'm concerned hehe. I do like to see a driver as, as you say it finishes the model off and hides the inner workings to boot. Def worth filling in those gaps around the steering. The Quattro should look really great with LED's. Many thanks for watching and keep safe my friend.
Thanks Steve. Still trying to get out with Mark to do some caparisons so I can start to look at those mods you told me about but the weather is not so good here at the moment.
Hi Rob (again today!) I just thought I'd let you know that Richard of Mydoddy69 has asked if I will be getting a cockpit after seeing your Lancia - his comment put a smile on my face after filming this with you - what could I say? This RC hobby is great fun - lots of friends - love it!!! ;D
Looks the biz Rob. Really nice job you've done. It's a must for this shell really. I did have one but just tinted the windows so you couldn't see inside. Anyway nice explanations and jolly banter with Mark. Thumbs up :-)
Thanks very much Pete. I was in the dilemma as I have some smoke paint but in the end decided to get the cockpit as it is available. I'll pass your comment on to Mark mate thanks again my friend.
Hey Rob, thanks for making this, it was very informative and very helpful. I think this kit may be my next build. Looking forward to future updates. Thank you Trevor
Thanks Trevor for your very kind words. It is a lovely kit, but the decals are a nightmare and also if you go for the TT-02 order some oil filled cva shocks and bin the pogo sticks you get as standard.
Looks awesome that Rob. Just finished mine too after watching your vid. Ended up elongating the body post holes as you said to allow it to sit correctly. 😉😉.
Thank you so much Tony. From all the great comments on this it goes to show that some people (well I know I am) are far to critical about their own work.
Really looks awesome, Rob! Awesome job. And a great and thorough video too. Watched it to the end. I’ve started doing the eyeballs with a toothpick, but I think yours look better. The lines around the helmet are the trickiest. I usually end up doing them a million times before getting them right 😃
Thanks a lot Mikael. Although we did it in one take I had tried at least three times before to video it on my own before I gave up and gave Mark a call. I must admit a lot of it for the eyes is I think due to how long I have had the black paint. There is hardly any left in the bottle and it is that thick now that you could put quite a lot of it in a blob and it will just stay like that until it dries. I know what you mean about the lines around the helmet that's what I normally do but with this one I did two coats of the blue and left it.
Hey Mark, hey Rob! Great video! I ordered the cockpit for my Toyota Yaris some days ago. :) Cool to see how you did it. You're cockpit looks awesome! 👌 I have the cockpit in the MST CMX Suzuki Samurai and the Tamiya MF-01X Jimny :) Love it :)
Thank you so much Richard for your fantastic comment. It does finish the kit of nicely so you don't see all the electronics. Hope to see some running vids of the Yaris soon?
Oops, sorry Charlie, must have Richard's (Mydoddy RC) name on my mind after replying to him lol. Just checked a couple of vids of your Suzuki and Jimmy excellent stuff mate.
Hi guys, you both have done amazing jobs on you’re cockpits, my attempts at doing them are totally crap 💩, seriously 😳......CRAP 💩💩💩 . But yours......really yummy 🤤 👀 looking. You guys have no idea as to how jealous I am lol 😝. Great video. 😎👍👍👍🇬🇧
You can do it Mike, it's mostly practice. Before getting back into RC I use to make and paint plastic models which is how I got use to painting (trying to paint the face of a 1/72 scale pilot gets you concentrating). Thanks for the great comment mate and stay safe.
@@robbrennanrc you too. While it is for my Lancia, I will be interested, when it arrives, to see if it will fit in my Renault R5. Suspect it will be too big.
Your cockpit looks great Rob. I got this for £4 from a forum postimg.cc/image/ewi8nzu7t/ and repainted it all by hand with Tamiya acrylic paints for one of my Subaru's postimg.cc/image/5aiaimedl/ I don't have any decals for the drivers, but when it's in the car it doesn't notice.
Oh man that cockpit looks insane
Perfect, thank you! Will help me so much building the cockpit for my Porsche 911 RSR Martini 👍
Great work! I've been looking for RC Rally Cockpit tutorials. Thank you for this. :)
Glad I could help!

Rob Brennan Cheers Rob, the Beetle is a nice straightforward build - but I wish I'd done it in green...🤔.

Just checked it out, cheers dude. I totally agree. You need to order yours now.
Too right mate - can you paint it for me? ;D

Rob you have done a fantastic Amazing job, fantastic detail, give yourself a pat on the back brother 😁😊😁

No need to apologize. I had a laugh :D Thanks buddy :)
i saw you on "rally rc video". very nice! I sub&like
Thank you so much. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the like a sub.

Looks great..does the cockpit fall out when you are bashing around with the car
Cheers Steve. No the hook and loop on either side keep it firmly in place, but it does make quite hard to remove it for cleaning lol.
👍👍👍👍
Thanks man. Glad you like it.
Just found this as my cockpit is on the way. Great video as usual. Did you wash it down before painting?
Hi Mark, yes I did using warm soapy water and then dried it off with a clean cloth.
Thanks for watching and keep safe my friend.
@@robbrennanrc you too. While it is for my Lancia, I will be interested, when it arrives, to see if it will fit in my Renault R5. Suspect it will be too big.
I keep meaning to see if I can get one and make it fit my Renault 5 but haven't seen any in stock for a long while :(
@@robbrennanrc found mine on eBay but from Hong Kong. At $42 Australian. Getting rare and expensive.
Started finally, did a pre fit with blutac to see where the rear posts come through. Just in front of where Tamiya has the cut outs.

It looks really good now Derek. I would have done the same if the decals hadn't come with the car kit. Thanks for watching my friend.
Gravel not travel!!!
