The only change I want with summons in combat is: when I put an ennemy in stagger mode, let me unleash the summon ultimate attack when I want. It's annoying to have to time the summon leaving with staggering if you want some spectacle lol
Also let us have ALL three Bahamuts at our disposal dammit lol! It was stupid not having the OG one along with Fat Chocobo. The thought of being able to play as Bahamut and fight the Ultima Weapon gives me goosebumps.
1. Have Chadley point out some secret location on the map that leads to the Summons and we get to challenge them in the real world. 2. Make Bahamut zero a Giant Dragon Mecha that were hidden in the moon or the Star, and we get the info from Bugenhagen that some thing was build by the Ancients that's too powerful. 3.Travel across the World to get the relics(Kinda like FF15 did) that finally we get access to the Round Island, and Then. We can get the Ultimate Summon Materia. And with that, we have an epic adventure to get the Summons👏🏻👏🏻
The best thing they could do for Chadley is give him his own wing in the Highwind. Kind of like a Lazard but for this rag tag group of miscreants. He's essentially the quest hub, but the quests are just more unique. World Intel was fine, but I think just going raw dog and going with a strictly fog of war approach to the map would be the best way to incentivize exploration. Maybe 3 levels of mapping. Flight, ground, and interior. Of course you could easily fly the whole map and fill out the world map easily, but landing places and physically exploring is the only way to find the best secrets. Once a POI is discovered the coordinates could be logged and unlocks fast travel potentially. Perhaps you could discover "intel" that could lead you to secret locations as well. This kind of exploration would make a mega quest like getting KOTR more interesting. The Gilgamesh quest was too much of a checklist and wasn't that engaging in my opinion. I could see KOTR being more of a locate 13 fragments and restore it kind of thing. And honestly it would be cool to control the summons. If even just for a set piece or 2. Maybe during Weapon raids?
Would be so cool if you could fully control them. Just imagine controlling the Knights of the Round attacking and doing crazy damage. Would be so sick.
I like the AP idea and also making them grindy, but then you could use the world intel caves to do something like as you learn the lore their AP growth increases, so the more lore/the better you understand the summon the faster they level up
I think you need to be careful what you wish for. Remember leveling up knights of the round in the original ff7? Remember how not fun that was? That's likely the reason that summons don't earn AP and we probably shouldn't be asking for that back.
@DashingDavid I can honestly say I disagree, grinding the swiftcast and magic focus materias was irritating enough. I'm sure there's a way they can make it interesting without forcing us to do tons of grinding, and I certainly don't mind if that ends up being what happens. But getting a p for it to level it up is not a thing I want them to do.
Dave is right, and I said this on one of his last posts. Battling all the summons in the simulator is lame as hell. No creativity, just the same bland ass scene. What happened to finding summons in the world, same as super bosses. Jesse handing us a summon and the chocobo mog being found outside the arena also weren't any challenge nor really exploration. Chadley's quest are boring and tedious as well as way too many of them slowing down the game. The game needs to flow better. And summons need to be found in the world which would feel more natural
I was enjoying you getting heated though b/c it was so accurate lol It was just saying what we all felt. They already gave us Alexander but I hope they give us the Snow witch boss fight as a way to earn a new summon in the Great Glacier. I think another one that makes perfect sense would be a Hades summon boss fight on the Sunken Gelnika . (or Relnika whatever the new name is)
I think it would be great if the 13 knights of “Knights of the Round,” would be each of the other summons. 1. Ifrit 2. Shiva 3. Choco Mog. / Fat Chocobo (rotating) 4. Leviathan 5. Bahamut (all 3 forms rotating) 6. Ramuh 7. Titan 8. Phoenix 9. Alexander 10. Kjata 11. Odin 12. Hades 13. Typhoon
Summons were never a big thing in FF7 lore. We as players made them important through our playthroughs of the OG FF7...they were beautiful to watch in action and did great damage I actually really like how summons work in Remake and Rebirth...it's nice to play a FF game that doesn't stuff Shiva and Ifrit and Bahamut down my throat all the time.
@hortinus why is it so important when it didn't matter before. The game was great, and still great without deep summon lore and backstory I don't mind a little bit but summons are not important to the plot except wutai
You can still have lore about the Gods in the games they just need to make it interesting. Also yeah Chadley needs to go lol! Also they could ad Diablo and Doomtrain ones that we haven't seen in a while.
The remake seemed so formulaic. Beat for beat. Getting to a new village and finding some new stronger gear in the shop meant nothing. Missing gear meant nothing. They tried so hard to make the game good when sometimes what made the older games good was that you could miss things and the rewards felt impactful and mean more when you could have just completely missed it. I got so burned out on rebirth that I’m pretty apathetic to the next game at the moment, but I agree with what you’re saying and I do hope they figure it out for part 3 and learn how to take it off the rails and make it fun.
I want summons to be useable whenever “I” want to use them. Not some arbitrary time/difficulty slider they use now. If I want to start a fight against a fucking ground squirrel by using Bahamut to fry it from space, let me. That was one of the things I found so hilarious in the original game. I would be so pissed about another random encounter I would instantly summon on the poor wildlife to end the encounter instantly. Ah, memories. 😂
remake summons dont count for world map. so shiva will be ice inn , rockeet town will be Bahumat 0, rhadora underwater or submarine city typhoon Wutai will be Lev. hades seems like mideel, and KOR will be on a island as a secret dungeon or a proto relic sidequest. as for the other from remake im not sure which towns to add
No more VR arenas, we all can agree that the use of a vr arena is a lazy excuse not to have big fights out in the open. I swear to the all mighty Minerva if they make me fight the summons/weapons in a vr arena I'm getting a refund.
I think new summons would be interesting they could put in Wutai. They should have at least 2 new ones. Hopefully we even get new party members and guest party members too. I agree, leave Chadley out of the summons, maybe other intel projects and quests. I think Chadley should be relegated to being a part of the story instead.
I'm okay with the way summons currently are, they're just optional flashy magic spells which doesn't have to be the main star of the game like FF16. One change I'm hoping for are more diverse arenas for VR, and even better, have most (if not all) of the battles take place in the actual world. It's also pretty much confirmed part 3 will have more secrets to discover and not have everything listed on the world intel checklist like Rebirth.
I think Summons in FF7 Remake and Rebirth were good enough. You want this to change? I don’t know why you would? I think you're seeing it from the perspective of Final Fantasy 16, which kinda does this already. So, every time you level up your summons' abilities, you upgrade the powers, too. I see this as the 'leveling' system for summons. But what if you could treat the summons as like a pokemon? I think that's what you want... EDIT: You said it at 0:33. Damn, I'm good. 😂😅
What’s the anima reference in remake? Animas my favourite summon too but there’s also a part of me that makes it special being unique to FFX with its lore being tied so tightly to the story of that game and its design If they did it well I’d be happy, but yes summons need to change for part 3
Keep Chadley away from the summons, makes absolutely no sense. Natural gods and futuristic robot FFS. Summons in remake were ruined for me because of Chadley and the fact they blew their load too early using them in Midgar.
It'd be cool if they gave me a reason to use summons in the first place. Two games in and I've NEVER used a summon! If you're managing a fight properly, you'll never need them so it'd be cool if they gave us a reason to use them other than they just look cool
Snow area might hold a snow monster. Haha. It used to be Alexander right? Maybe a counter to holy like Diablo and gravija or a demon monster of some sort with curse or something (Anima). Wutai should hold a dragon. Maybe bahumut or maybe a giant Chinese dragon and it’s a new summon that gets unlocked ? Like a shenron type thing. I already commented on another video about knights of round and Typoon so I’ll leave it. YOJIMBO would be freaking awesome. If we get both him AND Gilgamesh, that would be awesome!(if done right, the little dog was cool but the coin thing was dumb). I’d want him to cut stuff up. We hopefully will see at least 7 more though. Oh what about something from fort condor too. That should be exploitable this next game. Maybe we get a Rodan type flying beast. Haha
I would think they would add Fenrir and Diabolos as summons as just Hades, KOTR, Typhon, and Bahamut Zero would be bare compared to the summons we had in Remake and Rebirth. Cloud's bike from Advent Children would have likely gotten the name from the summon.
Rebirth to my knowledge never even had water, earth, holy, or dark elements implemented. It was all just looks and cosmetics. Leviathan, Titan, Alexander, Quake spells and all that stuff was all non-elemental. Hades is the obvious choice for a dark or poison summon but I'm not sure if the elemental system is getting an expansion or not but I hope it does bring in at least few of the other original elements and try to bring back a little bit more depth there. Otherwise none of it really matters mechanics wise and the summons are mainly cosmetic at this point.
I don’t want Chadley to give me summon materia or any materia! I don’t want chadley at all in fact. The VR simulator is a massive cop out and has taken so much away from the game in my opinion. The remakes did many things well, but this wasn’t one of them
Remove Chadley completely, let summons use MP and ATB instead of the random timer… and let summons be a one time hit like the originals. This trend of summons in the field is horrible imo 🤷🏻♂️
@@yiazmatoccuria8148 I personally like them fighting with us. A one time hit is nice for older FF games but I like the new direction. But I would prefer being able to use them whenever we wanted.

Its time we get a materia that summons all of the Bahamuts at once or they fuse into some new crazy bahamut
The summon crystals didn’t bother me at all. But definitely let us find the summons in “nature” where they were “only found” like Chadley said.
The best thing they could do for Chadley is give him his own wing in the Highwind. Kind of like a Lazard but for this rag tag group of miscreants. Knights of the round for sure remake version of this I'm sure will be great
Let Chadley be transformed to evil robot as hinted by a brief but no face shown scene when Hojo was injecting to someone.
Anima would be cool as a summon materia we get doing stuff involving the Gi. Hell they used Anima in FF14. Anima doesnt just have to be Seymours mom.
I like the AP idea and also making them grindy, but then you could use the world intel caves to do something like as you learn the lore their AP growth increases, so the more lore/the better you understand the summon the faster they level up
That’s a nice idea. That way they can keep the divine intel assets but make them do something to different
