  • Superheroes need a super trainer. Chris Hemsworth and Scar Johansson called on Duffy Gaver, no-nonsense bad@ss and former Navy SEAL. He turned them into Thor and the Black Widow.

    Duffy Gaver has built some bad@ss celebrity bodies, including those of Brad Pitt and Channing Tatum. Only you'd never hear it from him. Despite being one of Hollywood's elite trainers, Duffy attacks his job with a humble, down-to-earth, hard-as-nails, move-your-butts attitude.
    He doesn't drop names; he makes you drop and give him 20. Followed by 20 more. And 20 more after that. And… you get the picture. In Duffy's eyes, "All fitness is good fitness."
    Scarlett Johansson and Chris Hemsworth just graduated from the School of Duffy with degrees in crushing faces, pulverizing villains, and avenging the planet. The ex-Navy SEAL spent time with Bodybuilding.com to show us how he helped Hemsworth put on 25 pounds of Thor-muscle and turned Johansson into a lean, mean, bad-guy-busting machine.
    Having worked in the film industry for a long time, Duffy Gaver knows what it takes to get actors looking good in a short amount of time.
    He keeps it simple. He keeps it old-school. He doesn't use calipers or scales. Duffy's fitness philosophy would make Arnold proud. He believes in effort, discipline and intensity. Is there a secret to fitness? The secret is that there is no secret. It just takes hard f#cking work.
    | The Quotable Duffy |
    If you're interested in getting a movie-ready body, Duffy's recipe for fitness isn't complicated: train amazing, eat amazing and sleep amazing. "It's a three-legged stool," he says. "You need to do all three to get the results you want."
    "You are fitness," Duffy says. "If you want to change your body, you need to go DO something."
    "There's no mystery here," Duffy notes. "Fitness isn't out there for you to go buy... I don't need to go to someone to know that a Krispy Kreme donut sucks. Your intensity, how you attack the workout is everything."
    | Star Powering |
    To build massive muscle, Duffy had Chris lift big and eat bigger. Hemsworth downed huge amounts of chicken and red meat. For thickness, Duffy had Chris rock a variety of heavy rows - bent-over barbell, dumbbell, machine -- plus lat pull-downs, extra arm work, and shoulder moves.
    To create Scarlett's lithe athleticism, Duffy made her do lots of timed reps. She pushed through combinations of air squats, running, push-ups, wall-balls, and pull-ups to build stamina and strength for her epic fight sequences.

      Fat shaming works...because it worked for me! Some people just need a slight kick in the rear and a bit of reality put onto them to get into shape. They gotta realize that a healthy body physically/chemically helps the mind to be better as well.

    • @SizzledBeef
      @SizzledBeef 7 років тому +23

      Gmork Sure something like that will work for some people depending on how their mind works but for most people it just pushes them into a depression because they don't have a strong mind or a strong enough will to change. Then again, some people are happy with how they look and don't have a desire to be fit. Btw I'm not disagreeing with the guy, that shit was funny. I would like to see fat people get healthy and I agree that sometimes they do need a real push. Don't push too hard though, they might roll.

      Now hold on. Just because "fat shaming" worked for you doesn't mean it will work for everyone else. I've known plenty of people who not only didn't get motivated by people bullying and/or teasing them for their weight, but it made them even LESS motivated to change their life.

      ...He's a personal trainer who also works with celebrities, he's around attractive women exercising every single day. There a point when you'd become desensitized to it, sure it's still attractive but it doesn't have anywhere near the sexual appeal that it does for those of us who don't work in the fitness industry.

      Intermittent fasting helps (SOME) people stick to a diet. I never eat breakfast anyway, I'm never hungry. But I can more than make up for it the rest if the day.
      Its makes it easier to lose weight, but providing you're hitting your macros and smashing your workouts it doesn't matter if you IF or not, you'll still gain.

      If you have enough fat in your body, YOU ARE NEVER IN A CALORIE DEFICIT!
      And you don't have to eat 200 grams of protein everyday; 50 suffices. Think about it, if you add just one protein shake (20 grams), to your diet, each day, that makes for over 7kg or 15 lbs of muscle, PER YEAR!

      With well payed jobs usually comes a lot of time spent in the work. I am one of the lucky ones who has relativelly well payed job (but being 8-9h in work is standard), for me to train it takes get up at 5:00 AM every day to be in the gym from 6:00 to 8:30 and be in the office at 9:00 where I am basically to 6:00PM, I get home at 7PM make meals for tomorrow and go to sleep basically. Its not impossible to do but you simple can't do this every work day since some days you need to do stuff like go shopping, taking care of things and so on. I live alone and I have no children, having them would make this impossible.

    • @GaingsterKid
      @GaingsterKid 8 років тому +6

      People still thinks of training science as this mysterious form of dark
      magic , and bcaa's and fat burners as these magic potions that only few
      chosen ones knows its secrets ... give me a break !!! There is no
      amount of hard work or supplements that can get you 20- 25 lbs of muscle
      in 6 months !!! only a profound knowlage in pharmaceuticals can !!! and
      NO . Not every Bro scientist knows the half life , the
      biotransformation and bio availibility of "real supplements" . This guy
      is all about the correct dosages , stacking and managing the side
      effects .

    its amazing how many people new to fitness and bodybuilding ask the the question, "what's the secret?" or "how do you look so good?" or "can you teach me?"... i always laugh because there is no secret. its just like any other goal or aspiration you may have... I always keep these two words in mind: consistency and intensity. Because no matter what happens in your life that pulls you off track, at the end of the day your consistency and intensity will always trump in giving the results you want to see. You just need the drive and patience to see it through.

      squats gives you a square ass...unless you eat a lot of carbs afterwards then fat gets stored in the ass and then it's round not square. Look at bodybuilders they have square gluts

    • @GrowingDownUnder
      @GrowingDownUnder 3 роки тому

      @Kuba P yes all! the ones that don't have a square ass have a lot of fat in their gluts, actual shape of gluts is square no matter how many squats you do. Fat is what makes it round. The more fat you lose from your gluts the more square it gets. Contrary to popular belief if you want a bigger booty, squats won't do it for you, that comes from eating more calories and storing more fat in the gluts area.which you can kind of do by targeting that area to store fat like workout then those muscles will absorb the carbs and water faster after a workout in those areas

    Great video, this guy knows what he is talking about. Best advice Keith Kline a nutritionist told me and my husband years ago in Houston, is be realistic in your goals, if your tempted to eat something you know is not good for your weight loss or body building goals make a "better bad choice", in other words you have a craving for Haagen Daz ice cream, choose Vanilla yogurt instead. Weight training is mostly determination, building the habit of working out and being consistent.

      @SplashgameFTW 8 років тому +4

      Dude you're fucking dumb. Are you a scientist? do you study biology? Have you ever had your own success story? I could ask you many other questions but simple fact is human biology and genetics have different limiting factors person to person. YOU are misleading people. I am my own trainer and have gained 25lb in less than 4 months from jan-april and have maintained it throughout this year, now trying to lean down a little. I understand that when he said "25lbs of muscle" he probably just means 25 lbs of lean mass, since he doesn't check body fat/weight of his clients. And for the record I have never used any type of PED. even with a PED like anabolic steriods, no results will come if your intensity, diet, and rest aren't on point.

    • @j-young-d
      @j-young-d 8 років тому +15

      Wow, your comment was so stupid. He said in the video "25 pounds of MUSCLE" so that is exactly what I commented on. You are assuming he meant something else but he didn't say that in the video....did he? No. If he said lean mass or just plain body weight than I wouldnt have commented what i said. So listen closely again....ill write it again. You can't gain 25 lbs of MUSCLE in 6 months. Before you write another silly comment....read what i wrote carefully....with a big emphasis on the word "MUSCLE" because that is the exact wording he said in the video and the exact word that I commented on. Write more comments so I can wreck them.

      Hulk's diet and workout plan are mainly about size. His diet is extremely important. 500 pounds protein perday, and some around several hours of exposure to gamma radiation. And, also Hulk's plan also involves psychiatric therapy for anger trainning. Hulk's workout is heavily emphasized on weight lifting. The program provides him with several water trucks for squats and tanks for pushing, and personal trainers like Abomination and Juggernaut to help him with workouts.
