I stopped playing a month in( I left because my gm told me even if I saved all my dkp I couldn't have sulfuras on my shaman.) My /played was 11 days 23 hours. I logged back in a week ago and my entire guild was dead as well as the faction balance of the server. I moved to grobbulus alliance and have refound my passion for this game. I'm so excited for zg so I'm actively leveling this warrior and having so much fun along the way. I just hope I don't feel that same dread of the last ten levels again.

I would leave some nerd guild like that so fast. Just have fun, there's so many guilds with a bunch of 30 year olds just getting boozed, killing bosses and collecting purpz. Who gives a faff about parsing and shit.
@@quixoteyeah Yea, i met those "bunch of 30yr olds just getting boozed killing bosses" - the same 30 yr olds asspulling trash in MC all day long, causing raids to wipe and let us sit 4-5 hours in mc. yea i have alot of fun wasting my whole day in MC too! it's not that if you go farm a bit gold for consumables you can clear it in 2h easily, and the time you safed is enough to make up all of it - but hey, "nerd guilds" suck xd

I have RL friends in classic...however they all got to 60 and dont wanna run any 50-60 dungeons cause they are either raiding or sitting on buffs and cant play their toon with me.

I barely play got 3 60 toons and just have no motivation I still log on to raid but I just don’t no if I see the point anymore

I love this video so much! My little 20 person raiding guild [A] Pagle has been slowing/casually running dungeons, UBRS, and occasionally PUGs in MC, but our real joy will be when ZG opens. We have kept our team small and have great friendships. We are all older (most in our 40s and up) and we love slower, strategic gameplay. Ty for a great video, Punkrat! Love your content!

As a Beta WoW player I was also only a young teen at the time. I got into PvP more then raiding. Now 2nd time around I can enjoy these raids that I rarely did. I do remember trying out MC for first time and taking 6+ hours cause nobody knew the mechanics yet. Pretty sure my dad still has a 10+ page print out someone made with mechanics people figured out.
I play on a low population RP-PVP server. The community aspect is really nice and people are still levelling. There is a monthly newsletter and people have started to build up a server-wide reputation. There are player-hosted PVP tournaments with cash pool prizes, we do trash raids to get the crafting components in MC every tuesday, we have RP tavern nights that sometimes turn into BGs on Wednesdays, I've even had open-world RP which is awesome. I'd say I got lucky with this server because it sounds like other servers are filled with min/max culture and as someone that never played wow before, I feel like I'm playing the wow of 2005.
With that said, our guild is super excited for ZG. We haven't started BWL yet but once we do some ZGs we might give it a shot.

Excellent video! You hit the nail on the head. There is definitely some burnout happening and my guild on Incendius while is in top 5 for BWL speed clear for server is having a hard time filling all 40 spots. People are just not wanting to login as much. We have 2 raid groups and could not even get enough to do an MC last night. Same with getting 25 for Ony. 20 man raid would make this so much better and greatly help gearing everyone as well as Alts. As a druid I have been 8/8 T2 for 2 weeks but I feel bad for all those warriors, rogues, mages and priests who have so much competition. There were some WTFs going on when I got last piece and I felt somewhat guilty (somewhat lol). Definitely looking forward to ZG plus the Swift zulian tiger is my favorite mount of all time. Never could get it in retail and I am obsessed with acquiring it for classic.
i am grateful that I was able to experience the fresh leveling experience. was worth the 2 weeks leave.

Well, imo its not busted. Casters need the extra dps boost for raids comp to melee dps. :D

Look I’ve been playing since launch day... I’m 32 years old and have three kids. I love the fact that I can log in and be able to just continue without feeling so overwhelmed. Personally for me end game is AQ and Naxx.

one thing i want to get of my chest - you play quite a role in this minmaxing scenarios. The way you analyse the game is on a really detailed level, and when you went into market discussions, loot tables and all that stuff, you automatically open up a way for minmaxing.
i myself think that the way the fightclubc discord theorycrafts p.e. is over the top - just the amount of items in the game compared to the depth of the analyses seems contradictory to me (why minmax theory over an item if you only have 2-3 items for a certain slot anyways. trial and error is as fast as the theory at that point) - as well as the availability of most items (raiding 6 months mc every id with DKP and yet have only seen 2 talisman [mage main]).
but nonetheless - you are doing a great job, i like your videos!
p.s. we were all so wrong about market speculation in the beginning - i am stil sitting on 100+ fused wirings that just wont sell XD
I had to take a break after a month when classic came out. I have been playing for 2 months now since I have come back, I still don’t have a 60. I’m having a blast. I’m secretly waiting for tbc for KARA. The best raid ever along with zul Amon. But eye of the storm. Great bg.

Do you enjoy a ‘smallish’ guild? Are you an older gamer that loves to run dungeons, but does not have goals for 40 man raids? Do you enjoy strategic vs. speed running dungeons? Do enjoy laughing and social game play? We have two 10-person teams running UBRS weekly and working towards ZG 20 and AQ20 raiding in later phases. We are very laid-back and friendly. Most of us are in our 40s and 50s in age. Maybe we should be the Old Casuals ? Haha. We are in this thing for relationships and the long-term (not fighting over gear). We will be mostly staying in 20 man raid content. When ZG releases, we will be raiding from 8-11 EST on Thursdays and Saturdays every week. Currently, we run UBRS Thurs @ 730 EST and Fridays at 1030 EST. We also have several events other than UBRS scheduled to help players of varied levels.
We are looking for players wanting to level to 60, build their pre-Bis, and join us in 20 person raid content (most likely dropping in April). We are very supportive and will help you achieve your goals.

It’s 2-14-23 and I’m loving Classic WoW. As many of us knew would happen, all of the TBC/WotLK/SoM players have come back, and Classic is as vibrant a community as ever. To me, leveling to 60 is great fun, and no trek to level cap is ever the same; I never tire of it. But… once you hit 60, a whole lot more fun awaits you if you’re willing to give it a shot.
One of my favorite things to do at 60 is collecting complete armor sets for each of my characters, whether it’s dungeon sets (1 or 2) or raid sets. Getting a BIS weapon, trinket, ring, and necklace is also loads of fun. Two of my characters have finally started running AQ40, and someday I may even make it into Naxx… but guess what? There’s no hurry now! I don’t have to worry about an expansion suddenly making all of my gear obsolete overnight. (I despised that system when Blizz released new games as “expansions” instead of as separate releases as they should have.) I can progress my characters as quickly or slowly as I like.
Even if you never raid, it’s fun. One of my toons has a full dungeon 2 armor set and full pre-raid BIS weapons, rings, etc. and enchants. Then, there are professions and reputations to work on.
I might even roll another alt….. 🤓

"everyone laughs about it, no one cares about the time, no one cares about the logs" @ 9:14. Yes, and that could also be true of your Molten Core and BWL groups, but mentality gets in the way. The only person preventing anyone from having a good time is themselves. I imagine that ZG won't fix that mentality, and you'll be wondering what Blizzard did wrong.
Yep, there's a great medium where you can try and still just have a good time. At the end of the day, it's pixels and will be gone eventually. Your time is valuable, so enjoy it.

I know what you mean punkrat. I’m also playing hunter and my average log in bwl is 95,7 legendary. When I died last raid twice and got grey logs at 2 bosses I got mad and I had to realise „come on man what’s wrong with you“ since my guild doesn’t care and I shouldn’t as well
Kara was hella fun. But man back in 06 40 mans were fun too but you’re right it was hard af to get loots
I am lvling a twink atm. And i see alot more ppl in open world compared to beeing ahead of the curve at launch. While there are loads of lvling boosts around right now. many of the players i know are now enjoying questing instead of lvling as fast as possible or grinding dungeons as was the meta on launch. Even low lvl worldpvp is much more prevelent just because ppl dont run by each other trying to be the fastest to hit lvl 60.

ZG gear is the sh!t. It was my first raid. Our guild was late starting in 05 and to small for MC. When we finally had the numbers for MC, we steamed rolled it with our core group decked out from ZG.

While i do consider me and my guild made of absolute min maxers (we were among the first to clear BWL) i have to say: i kind of dislike how this is killing the part of the game that is focused OUTSIDE of raiding...something that, surprisingly, didnt happen on private servers.
What i mean is this: on Northdale, from the start of the server up to the end of it, you were able to roll a level 1 character and you'd be 100% sure that, within a reasonable time, you d find people to quest and do dungeons with.
Today, instead, new levellers are struggling veeeery much...i play on one of the most populated servers (Herod) and even there, its almost impossible to find a group for RFC/WC/BFD that is not just a carry run sold for gold..which is a good option for people that just want to level quickly, but for new comers/people without gold and/or people that want to learn a new class/role they dont know...its definitely not ideal(i was trying to learn tanking for the first time after years of healing/dps, but at this point i almost gave up on)
As said in this video: you can go in places like Orgrimmar/Kargath/Eastern plaguelands and you ll see hundreads of players at any time...instead, if you try to go in front of Wailing caverns, you are likely not to see anyone there..a far cry from most of the private servers i ve played on, which is ridicolous.
I am loving classic, to an extreme level, but i think that 50% of that love is thanks to my guild which has an extremely core comunity (we have been together for 1 year now, after forming on Northdale private server..we were just a rag tag of fresh level 50/60s in green gear, and here we are now, 1 year later still together
Diskhate I just was talking to a guild mate about this. Deadmines was the biggest reason I first started loving the game, and now no one makes real groups for it.

Amon Amarth it was 2 years originally, probably be 2.5 years this time around so people can clear naxx a few time if the bring tbc. I hope so.
Kinda hoping tbe aq gate event wont be as long tbh. Farming all those mats was memorable because you were unlocking the unknown... but everyone knows it now. Itll just be tedious.
Ghaleon on big populated servers it wont take very long at all. All the pserver people will have it happen within weeks.

Oooh but there is competitiveness in ZG if you do Hakkar with all aspects alive :) Maybe not speed running, but there is "hard" mode none the less :) Also KZ was best because it was completely different then other raids, including the raid mechanics (chess event is the best example, but all of them are unique)...
Performing is about fun too. If i don't have good result, I won't have fun.

Scheduled raids are actually easier for casuals like me, because I can make plans around them. If I had to PuG raids at all I'm pretty sure I wouldn't. I have ~12 hours per week to play and logs are still the most fun part of the game. They aren't stressful at all, they're just fun on top of the fun everyone's already having in Discord.

Haha im ranking up at 59 now till 10 then finally my first 60 but yeah 40 rogue and 35 druid didnt help. Its just getting started for me 7 months in. Wife, kids, animals.. Finding time irl is the struggle Lol.
KBRedStar how I mean I have 3 60’s hunter in BWL gear, mage in Mc gear and warrior in preraid bis and bunch of alts in 30’s I work full time and play classic very casually few hours here and there....
I'm playing about 6 hours per week. 2 hours of farming and 4 hours of raiding. If that's not casual I don't know what is.

As someone who use to be a min/maxer 2005-2008 I can tell you that in Classic a casual can arguably have more fun than a min/maxer. Playing casually I have not experienced any of the problems a min/max player had to endure.
Theres less pressure on a casual player as opposed to min maxers who are pressured to get certain items or farm gold for flasks

I think people will still push for parses in ZG. At this point it's part of the culture even when the guild isn't stacking all consumes/buffs. When the raids aren't all that difficult, it gives people a challenge. I like that guildies are trying to improve every week as long as they are following mechanics.
Vincent Gennero the parades are hard to analyze when some will 10 man, some will try to do less. Some will burn it. It’s not as easy of a comparison

I'm not worried about getting gear at 60. There will always be gatekeepers and there will always be people who are just having fun.
bruh just get 40 warm bodies to press 1 button in their rotation and you can clear mc and bwl. no gatekeeping in classic. maybe in aq40 will the be guilds that genuinely struggle to full clear in a week.
Recently had my guild collapse because of this exact reason... the competitiveness min/max shit is insufferable. People are literally too impatient to wait a few weeks ro clear BWL. Sad...
why wait a few weeks to clear bwl? if your guild didnt clear sub 2 hours first week your doo doo.
It must be American or PvP servers youre referring too when you say the PvP meta and the dungeon finding has dropped.. seems my server is as busy as ever with Pugs Dungeon Groups and Premades.
The entire game of wow is for the casual player. The only thing that’s not is tank 14. I also believe retail is casual. I’m playing 2 maybe 3 times away and I can still get in high keys and raids.
Rank 14 can also be casual it takes the majority to come together and boost.

Kharazan wasn't the best raid every because of it being a ten man! It's just an AMAZING raid. From the chess game to the theatre piece to the legendary staff there's just nothing else like that. I still have more fun running it with one friend on retail than I do on many other raids classic or retail (the latter of which I don't play anymore).
Kharazan was definitely the best raid in WoW overall.
It's just so good, ESPECIALLY if you were there doing it during progression in TBC. It was amazing, I absolutely cannot wait to reexperience it again when Classic does TBC eventually

I wish Blizzard figured out how to fix the 'empty zone' issue with leveling toons.... I mean it's an MMO... there is NO ONE in the open world early zones.
Really? I've been making alts a lot and see low level people EVERYWHERE. It's easier to find groups from 15-45 than it is to find them at 60 these days.

There’s 15 NA West servers and 20 NA east servers, I’m pretty sure Whitemane is the NA streamer server, there’s also an EU streamer server though I can’t see those in my client because I’m NA.
After Covid19 though these’ll be the only decently full servers, I hope Blizzard merges some of the other servers eventually...
I would like to say every single streamer tends to say "This phase will be the golden days." "That phase will be the best days!" then always complain about how it isn't good enough or not casual friendly enough or that it didn't live up to expectations.
I don’t get the push for making the game more casual friendly. Why are we even playing this game if we wanted a more casual experience?
Even if you argue what pushed people away from Retail isn’t how casual it became, you can see how it becoming so casual facilitated everything else that pushed people away from the game, or that Classic not being as casual is what draws/keeps people to/on it.
Like I get the huge QoL things like not needing world buffs in TBC, but I don’t get the people who want to hand out free boosts to max or make the core gameplay easier. The game is fun the way it is, and the whole world doesn’t need to agree with that statement, just enough people to keep it alive.

@@jakefreas4794 Wdym? The proper point of entry is start at level 1 and work your way up to 60/70/80 or whatever. That's always been the proper way, and it should always be treated as such.
My first 60 I got in a well functioning raid group and I find myself close to the point of raid logging. I don't have time to grind BGs, I don't need anything from dungeons and I don't make enough gold to be able to respec and do farms (I heal in raids and its harf to farm as heal spec). I enjoy raids, but it happens so infrequently its not as fun as when I was leveling. Looking forward to ZG for the variety, frequency and accessibility.
I love when people who aren't even in world top 500 guilds try to tryhard about logs and shit. Like, who the fuck are you kidding?

Agreed. I quit playing because of mix/maxers. Was told I cant raid with many groups because I was shadow priest. I wouldnt be doing "elite" dps, but did plenty enough to warrant being brought in. Meanwhile literally every raid out currently could be cleared with a raid full of rets lol

I view myself as a casual gamer and the only piece that makes the game SUPER DIFFICULT to stay casual is all of the power leveling. Stocks, SM, MARA, Etc. It is extremely difficult to find a real group of people to actually run the dungeon. People would rather pay money to get power runs, which pretty much eliminates dungeon gear as part of your build unless you can get the power leveler to kill the bosses.

Do you enjoy a ‘smallish’ guild? Are you an older gamer that loves to run dungeons, but does not have goals for 40 man raids? Do you enjoy strategic vs. speed running dungeons? Do enjoy laughing and social game play? We have two 10-person teams running UBRS weekly and working towards ZG 20 and AQ20 raiding in later phases. We are very laid-back and friendly. Most of us are in our 40s and 50s in age. Maybe we should be the Old Casuals ? Haha. We are in this thing for relationships and the long-term (not fighting over gear). We will be mostly staying in 20 man raid content. When ZG releases, we will be raiding from 8-11 EST on Thursdays and Saturdays every week. Currently, we run UBRS Thurs @ 730 EST and Fridays at 1030 EST. We also have several events other than UBRS scheduled to help players of varied levels.
We are looking for players wanting to level to 60, build their pre-Bis, and join us in 20 person raid content (most likely dropping in April). We are very supportive and will help you achieve your goals.

Actualy, 15 years ago you couldnt, atm i play 2-3 days a week for a few hours and im raiding all content and pretty easy
ok so im in two minds about this... on one hand I like sub 1 hour BWL clears. but on the other hand... that comes with high parses and having everything logged. If you want a half decent guild, they are going to be logging. if you don't care about logs, expect almost a 3 hour BWL clear time
3 hours is pretty good for "not loggint" aKa not caring.
logging doesnt give you shit if people can't control their threat
@@TheSilentpulse You also can't parse high if the tanks don't generate enough threat. I have to hold back a lot in my social guild. MC logs are a better indicator of where you're at.

Karazan was good and all but if you got to raid the 25 mans just the progression of going through ssc to bt was amazing. I don't have a favorite raid for they all imo each had a boss/bosses that added to the raids being fun. Karazan was fun but just got outplayed after doing it so much to gear your 25 man to progress.

Some of us actually enjoy being comptetive and are actually having fun during raids aswell. In our guild we tried doing more relaxed/consumes free runs and people were much less focused which led to more deaths/wipes and others simply didnt have time to sit at the pc for 3 hours straight doing bosses that have been cleared 10 times already. Doing speedclears or going for parses is so much more fun you care much less about the loot but instead you look at your performance and stuff you can improve on.
Even though I haven't played retail wow in a long time, this video just reminds me that retail isn't bad and classic isn't bad but the players ruined it, they're attitudes, trying to parse, trying to constantly min-max everything is what has turned people off from the game in the past and its what is turning people away from classic now.

even if you care about parsing, imo it doesnt make sense to really try to get good parses if you arent in full bis lol youre just gonna lose to someone that is in full bis and why would you try to be competitive if you arent trying to be the best?
If you are the better player, you can win against players that have better gear. Or your goal could be to reach or almost reach their dps, if the difference is too high. Warcraftlogs has a score specifically for your item level as well, that could motivate too
Faerlina has become quite the dead server since the big streamers stopped streaming on it. The more populated servers have a lot of activity, dungeons, alt leveling, it's a healthy environment.
Tafson your own fault rolling a server just because some streamers are on that server.
