I worked at Chemical Plant/Phosphate mine in Florida Nutrien has since acquired said facility the plant made DAP, MAP,Green acid and Super Phosphoric acid. Chances are your fertilizer may have come from there.
Just wait for the next video.... I run a very special disk made by Deere. The landoll is very simple. It is a 7431-33, so 33’ wide. I believe the gang angles are 10-12 degrees, but I am not sure. The gangs are not adjustable, unfortunately. For the price point, it does a fantastic job.
Is there any advantage to applying fertilizer in the fall instead of spring? Also have you tested out applying Micronutrients to a test plot? In addition to that do you think there would be a greater yield difference between macronutrients or macro + micronutrients?
The only disadvantage of applying NH3 in the spring is compaction and a plant-back delay. The channel of gaseous nitrogen in the ground is toxic to young seedlings, which means you have to wait a few days after application to plant. As you go north, people favor fall application due to colder winters that help preserve nitrogen. We are about as far south as you’d go before people switch to spring applications. As for micronutrients, we have tried them before, but our data didn’t suggest any major difference. There are certainly high-management practices that work-we just haven’t implemented any.
Do you guys rent or use a Anhydrous tool bar for your nitrogen we are from Iowa and we farm about 4,300 acres of corn and beans and we have a 170 beef cow calf operation and we rent a tool bar for putting on gas
It definitely happens to some degree, but it is really hard to measure. Last season, when it was really wet, we had all of our NH3 on in the fall. I think we lost 20-30 bushels across the entire farm due to nitrogen issues. This year it seems like our few farms that were all applied in the fall also suffered a yield drag. Nitrogen leaching is a very big issue due to the off-target implications in water sources.
@@aTrippyFarmer Thanks for the info on what you have been seeing in your operation. My background comes from dealing with things in very sandy soils and even in plant nurseries and we had to be very mindful of N movement, especially when dealing with the monsoon and hurricane season in Florida. We were constantly running both soil and leaf samples for analysis at the lab in order to catch nutrient deficiencies before we saw them.
At least I know you won’t call my county central Illinois like the people in Chicago do so often. We are only 1 hour south of Chicago. You are obviously in the REAL central Illinois. :)
Does the rock have a gender?? In today’s world you have to wait for it to decide!! That is about the dumbest thing I have ever heard! It’s god choice not ours! Thanks for the video, I just started watching your channel and enjoy it!
Quite the rock collection! Thanks for the video Andy!
Most of it was collected by my predecessors, and a lot of them came from the same field. Thanks for watching!
Awesome drone footage of tillage, keep it up
Appreciate u taking time to educate us in agriculture
Yes going to work
Rock-on. Your humor is great.
Glad someone finds me funny, Stephen.
I enjoy his humor too! In a live stream, someone asked how many acres he runs. He replied, he usually tracks his runs by miles!! Lol
Good job on nutrient explanation , plus stewardship of the land.
Thanks, Chris. We are far from perfect.
Nice work. Thank you.
Great drone footage! Countryside looks beautiful!
Everything looks awesome from the air. Thanks for watching.
You'll be at 100K b4 you know it! You deserve it!
I’m just trying to keep the videos coming. If people want to watch, they will watch!
Come, on Guys, We can Get The Trippy Farmer to 10,000 subs by the end of the year
That’s the spirit. Thanks for the support.

Wow that is neat. I’d love to see how it’s made sometime.
Andy: Your Landoll is doing terrific job. What model is that machine? Can you vary the angle of the gangs: front and back?

It’s a custom application from the retailer. I talk about it a little more in the newest video. Great question!
Do you have problems with the N in your fertilizer moving too deep in the soil profile or even offsite over the winter?

What does black ice smell like???
That one is stale. I couldn't describe the smell, but it beats the smell of a dusty truck.

I would say 1 hour south of Chicago isn't far enough, myself I would say level Chicago and start over
I’m more on the south-central side. I just call the entire northern section of the state “Chicago.” 🤣
@@aTrippyFarmer wouldn't that be shitcago lol the best part of Chicago is seeing it in your rear view mirror 😜
