I bought one about two months ago. It's been a really solid truck. Mine has about 150 trail miles on it. I changed the servo and put wheels and tires. Six pitbull rock beasts made it super capable.
Made mine 4x4 after a few weeks of owning it. I recently got the 3 part axles so im putting it all back together now! Hopefully it works out this time!
That would be pretty sweet if they released a kit to convert to 6x6, might be a bit much to do that with the trx4 but like you did before I think it would be cool to see them do something with a straight axle conversion kit too.
I like the idea of grey wheels but for some reason they look extremely toyish. Black is sometimes difficult to tell if metal or not, but there is no mistake these are plastic. I would like to see this chassis as an add on kit, and a builders kit.
Everyone that I know with this truck has a clicking noise in the differential. Axial sent out replacement parts and it’s still doing the same thing. And the body is flimsy and very thin. Besides that it’s a good rig.
@@gerrysoldguyreview bought mine right after they came out. So far no clicking and it's been on many trail runs and a fair amount of rock crawling. I wonder if there was a specific batch that has the clicking problem.
Love mine, built a 6x6 with the scx10 years ago it's fun to run them side by side! Thinking of also getting the traxxas also .thanks to mr Matt's review
I'm surprised that there's NO interior! Not even a molded Lexan one... Oh well, more fun for you and me! 😉 I HOPE that there will be a Kit. Steering? Don't see any reason why one can't swap the rearmost Axle with another front one. To save complexity, I would go Axle Mounted Servo in the rear... IF I could afford one in the first place. 😭 Carmine ✈🚂🚙
IF I had the opportunity... Because Axial does sell all the parts separately to convert any SCX10 II to 6X6..... I would take the opportunity to go NUTZ and FINALLY build the *8X8* I've always wanted!! 😳😎 I would of course put the Build on Scale Builder's Guild!! (I think the only Crawler Forum where I'm still welcome) 😉
That body would be nice on the stock chassis length with a tiny bed or tray back, but it would look really good on the 4x4 or 6x6 and join the dual cab to another dual cab chopping the the front screen and hood off and butting the two halves together to get the same look as the Volvo 303 to look like an overlander
So in theory you could buy this and make it a two axle truck by swapping the rear axle to the forward rear axle? I really dig this body. The G wagon traxxas is not for me but it has portals, so....
Thank for the great video, I almost missed the part about the Spektrum receiver using the older protocol. I always do a spreadsheet for cost for my next build, I would have missed the part about getting another receiver to work with my DX5R. Wished they spent just a few bucks more on a current protocol receiver so I wouldn't have to spend $30 on my end.
Thanks mr Matt great review, wait till you drive it, it looks great on the rocks, stickier tires make it a fair rock crawler, and lots of room inside for an interior!
There is only 1 6x6 XJ I've ever seen so far, looks fairly well done but camo paint. It's a real XJ though, not an RC one. I'd love to see more of them both though lol
Ive been looking at this and the traxxas 6x6. Im leaning more towards the traxxas but i dont care for the locking/unlocking diffs. Not sure which one ill end up with. Good review! Cant wait to see what you do with it
Nice little big truck (y) I also prefer this over the TRX6. Can you measure the diameter of the tail lights please? I'm thinking of using these for one of my current builds if they are not too big.. :-)
Scale Builder's Guild nice. Yeah I don’t really have any attachment to either company so it would be nice to see a non-biased comparison. Thanks for the reply.
Yup definitely look like a nice rig.. Me personally?.. Not a lot of interest in the 6x6 versions of the 1/10 scale trucks.. I think it needs a lot of weight to look right ... So that the double axles on the back react like you would expect .. If that makes any sense... lol Thanks for sharing Mat I do however think this is the nicest looking one yet.. ;)
What flavor of RX comes with that rig? If it is a DSM2 RX, it is compatible with the DX5C/R. When is the "Axial 6x6 vs the Traxxas 6x6" video coming out?
Matt... This is RANDOM, but... You mention fairly often you'd like suggestions for builds. What about the good Old Econoline PICKUP? The early 60's, Nose rollover when you hit the Brakes too hard - one?? 😋
Dang that’s looking hot! Nice color for that too! And a full function spare to boot! Hey Matt I got a question for you. You mentioned once that you sometimes sell your rc cars that you have. Would you by any chance be willing to sell that SCX10ii F100 in the future? If so I would love to buy that off you when you feel you’ve had your fun with it and are willing to part with it. I’m pretty sure this isn’t the place to ask that, but for now this is the only place I know of to get ahold of you. Hopefully we can talk a little more about this if not here but somewhere else that is more business appropriate.

I'm thinking it through, and I have a feeling the second middle axle would have to be flipped to account for the reverse rotation of the previous axle's output.
Great vidioe! 👍 I just took on 1 of these not long ago and it couldn't touch my scx10.2! It even had trouble keeping up with my tf2 at times. The rtr isn't to impressive least not out of the box but it is pretty cool looking! 😂
Stainless steel skid plate kits usually include TWO skid plates. One for the front axle and one for the rear. I see NO-ONE on amazon or eBay offering THREE skid plates. Had a look at both the umg6x6 and the trx6 the other day and the trx6 is by far the better choice imo.
I'll wait to have them both side by side and let the viewers decide what the best choice is for them before passing judgement.

What sound does the 6x6 make? Click Click, Click!
Really? Haven’t heard that. From what I have heard, it’s an extremely isolated issue.
the rear axle suspension should have been via a spring loaded walking beam instead of this independent setup.
Would like to see an 8x8 or 6x6 with all wheel steering
But not portal axle's as per the 1-1 one, but I suppose a copyright issue may be incured
