$129 vs $99 for the Zorro with ELRS. If one strictly flies drones, maybe the Commando. The batteries are not removable...........that doesn't not sound like a plus. I'm thinking the Zorro is going to be out of stock for a while due to demand and these commandos will be available and discounted before too long and most of the people buying them will be the ones that needed a new radio but could not get the Zorro. Larger screen, more switches and the multiple ways to power it, I think the Zorro wins hands down for most people, but the Commando may do well in niche areas
Agreed ! The only way the Iflight could be a good seller is by being an entry level model priced accordingly ($60?) ... Somebody at Iflight did not do his research ...
Somehow didn't even know iFlight was coming out with a controller as well. Seems decent enough. I'm pretty sold on the Zorro though, seems like a good successor to my Jumper T-lite.
True! Jumper also needs to start talking to the ELRS devs / sending them PCBs. Just taking their work to sell it and introduce multiple unnescessary problems isn't the right way, and judging from the past they can use some help reviewing their PCBs anyway...
The Commando is pretty much an ELRS transmitter with joysticks attached. Out of the 4 models available to buy there is no 4 in 1 model either. I use audio but many don’t.
Hands down the iflight commando 8 will be a winner if they include a speaker. Mainly because of excellent quality products. Just put in a speaker and see it roll
I agree with you. I'm very happy with T-Pro with external ELRS module. Contrary to some reviews, the six buttons on a row are easily configurable without complex work...
I wonder how many more we will see?. I do like the simplicity of this one instead of having switches all over the place. I’m keeping what I have and familiar with. As I get older I need a note pad with instructions taped to each one 🧐😆. Thanks Captain
Has anyone outside of reviewers received a zorro? I ordered it this week and it’s super unclear when they will ship and when it’s expected I’ll receive it.
You would think they would identify the TX module. Why would anyone pay $30 more for LESS radio. I'll stick with the RM ZORRO. Thanks for showing what we don't get... ;-)
The iFLIGHT Commando 8 is another brother of Radiomaster Zorro and Jumper T-Pro! Again, I am telling that I am not a professional in this transmitter/receiver field so I am not going to understand nicely and precisely, but I will do my best. The inbuilt fan in this controller is just awesome! I never saw a fan in a controller before!! Inbuilt rechargable battery too?? 20 hours operating time??? That is the best thing in this controller! I prefer rechargable inbuilt batteries in controllers than the simple cylindrical batteries that are locally found in stores. But, the con is that it lacks those speakers, and the small display is a bit uncomfortable in my opinion! Zorro's display screen is superb but it is not that powerful with 0.25 Watts. Looks like T-Pro is most powerful as compared to others with 1 watt power. Whereas Commando 8 has 0.5 Watts. Both Commando 8 and T-Pro looks very similar, just buttons are lacking in the Commando 8 controller. Nothing much to say as I am pretty noob in FPV field lol, I think that they all are good controllers for flying FPV drones!
damn... now *none* of these three fit the bill: one has too big form factor (Zorro), one doesn't have push buttons (T-Lite, only momentary) for arming, and one doesn't have a speaker (Commando). Maybe they'll get it right in the next version(s) 😀
Hi captain drone I'm one of ur fan when it comes from drone review. I want know what is the brand of SD card that u use in your all expensive drones and go pro tnx captain drone t.c.a
Ahoi Captain Im flying dji fpv for almost a year now. I want to upgrade to a iflight Nazgul5 evoque but without getting the dji v1 fpv radio What radio should i get? Dose the commando 8 instantly connect to the Nazgul or what typ of reciever do i have to buy? Thanks in advance ;)
Yikes! You really should watch my video series CAPTAIN DRONE FPV FOR BEGINNERS because your question means you are starting at level 1 when you need to be at least level 50 in FPV knowledge.
Steve, as I have been using the Turnigy for a while now and I mentioned I have the Jumper t pro with built in 1000mw arriving. Is it a daft question as I have never need to flash any of my TX's It seems there is only a problem when flashed with wrong software. Do we have to flash this at all, if all my receivers are ELRS?
The only reason you update the firmware on a receiver or transmitter is so that they match. The ELRS world changes weekly due to it being an open source and their are lots of geeks messing with it. When I receive an ELRS drone for review I can either update it so it matches the firmware on my radio or downgrade the firmware on my radio to match the drone. I’ve never tried updating the Jumper T-Pro ELRS unit.
Not a problem I have used Radiolink for 5 years Never once had to do that as it is not open source So all new to me Thanks for the reply. Keep smiling Graham
I wonder if its best to jump into the hobby with a cheap starter kit and bying a 360 Go2 when I want it for video or I should just save up almost triple to cost and buy a DJI FPV Drone
Right now, the goggles are the oldest/slowest revision tech in the hobby… imo if you’re going to spend anything more than $99 for your goggles, wise money buys the DJI FPV v2. You wil still need to buy an analog module and the adapter, but you’d need to if you get HDO2s also… but you can’t fly digital with analog. Crux3 (or similar) + action cam is a solid inexpensive setup that will yield useable footage. Just know that the heavier your aircraft the more likely you break stuff crashing. I have one I fly without a 360go and it’s held up for two years without breaking. Luckily, Express LRS is the clear future in fpv radio protocol- and it seems like most the radios with elrs have some easy multi-protocol built in to fly bnf stuff you might find good discounts on.
Love they do elrs915. Switches way better than t-pro. But no bay you can use your own modules in sucks (someone did say they were told iflight making bay adapter) 500mw is good. Still think zorro the best. Since I'll get 4in1 out my own module in. And has a lot of switches. T-pro the momentary kill me. Also how they did 6 switches. Commando could been winner if they just had module bay. Speaker I really like but maybe not deal breaker.
@@marcomotrassini4003 yea I know but there's a lot of steps. Not already setup like t18. Granted if u take the time I think u have more flexibility. But how many people buying cheap small transmitter can do this. What I seen each is it's own switch but only one can be on. So that will be confusing for a new. What I like are dials up there. I use them to control my vtx power out put on analog . Easy to feel and more with goggles on.
right now no need to get one cause Zorro has nailed it especially with the bigger display and the calibration for plane guys a must, same for mode 1 to 4 changes without opening the radio. The only reason for not buying that yet is the too small battery and the mediocre battery extender solution. I will wiat for Zorro V2 with 2 real 18650 with 3500 mAh each instead of their short 900 mAh ones they had used now cause 250 mW elrs makes no sense on radios with 1800 mAh versus 7000 mAh. thanks for the good comparison of all 3 to each others especially from the side .
Thank you Captain .... i can say FPV getting better than before and many choices for us.
So I'll now be buying the Radiomaster, but wanted to see this reviewed before the final decision. Much appreciated thank you.

Another interesting radio/controller. Just wish different brand goggles would come out as fast as controllers do...
I found out my Rekon 4 has a FRsky receiver in it. So I think I'm going to order the Zorro controller. Thanks for another great video.
Has anyone outside of reviewers received a zorro? I ordered it this week and it’s super unclear when they will ship and when it’s expected I’ll receive it.
They all shipped at the end of January. However the Chinese New Year may slow things down.
I received min last week. Ships with EDGETX and yes, has a speaker with sounds!
Yes, version 2 has the speaker & edge TX.
One of the reasons I bought the Radiomaster, was for the sounds.
Screen too small, I'd go with the zorro personally

okok, i keep on using my ole x9d plus se 2018. does the job with Tracer now. if i had to, i would go for the zorro. dont like small chicken sticks.
You can put a nano module on this radio. It comes with an adapter.
160 bucks for this radio is a no go having Zorro for 140$ with 4in1+ELRS module

You can buy a official mod with a push button from jumper
It says the Commando now ships with a speaker along with other upgrades. Waiting to see in person

Very nice vidz sir, well explained
Captain! If you were to choose one of the three as your new go-to controller, which would you choose?
I think I made it clear in the video... Blind Guy, Half Deaf.

Scandisk hands down
I always use Sandisk 64 gig extreme (U3) cards
the zorro is the more premium looking
Looks like iFlight didn't work with the devs on this one and has the same problems as the Jumper.

What Do you do whit drones and Planes/controllers after you review it?
And do you actualy buy drones on bv rcgoing, is IT thrusteble?
Watch this for your answer: ua-cam.com/video/ZbbHbIP2YWg/v-deo.html
But After you review and fly IT An, i gues you dont fly evry drone After the review, what you do whit Them, that you never telld uss
Enjoy the week
Very Interested...Is it vibration to train? Can you wear earbuds with sound in FPV?
Not with the Commando
I find the "RSSI low" call out so much more reassuring than a vibration, as I cannot remove my goggles...
I'm an audio pilot as well. I rely on audio from the timer to RSSI to flight modes and engagement of features like GPS Rescue.
elrs is the only protocol that matters. and wattage is the only important thing about it. t-pro all the way.

You can tell the lack of technical RC equipment building by the lack of FLYSKY compatibility . It might work for a partial stand in until later .
Hahaha nice ... ELRS radios family
Let's wait and see, are FrSky, FlySky and TBS will also release ELRS radio? 🤣
