This song is some kind of genius I'm too dumb to understand all I know is I can't stop playing it
Same! Obsessed
everybody can't stop playing every each song these days
Facts. That's exactly how I feel.
It seems like hilarious and groovy nonsense at first right but I eventually came to believe the sunglasses are a metaphor for his [negativity], the shoelaces are likewise an aspect or complex of her personality that he incorrectly assumed she would have just as stubbornly refused to let go of, but in a wholesome, depressing, profound turn of events, she does it.
I used to laugh to this song and now I legitimately cry.
Lyrics
My baby went out with her family to a ski resort in Colorado
Well she put on her skis and she slid down hill
Yeah she slid downhill in her bright red mufflers
My baby went out with her family to a ski resort in Colorado
And left me all along for a couple of weeks,
Well she called me up, she said I love you in the middle of the night
I said In the middle of the night everybody loves everybody else these days
She said Oh, in the middle of the day I love you very much
I said Everybody loves each other these days
I said I don't ever get to go on any vacations
I said I've gotta go to work every day
I said You get to slide downhill in your bright red mufflers
She said I love you, oh I love you in the middle of the day,
And she said
Take off your sunglasses
I don't wanna take my sunglasses
Take off your sunglasses
I said baby the sun is bright
I need my sunglasses
And then I woke up in the middle of the night
One night and I felt so unworthy
I said I woke up in the middle of the night
One night and I felt so unworthy
It didn't bother me too much, I think I am unworthy
And everybody's unworthy of everybody else these days
Everybody's unworthy of everybody else these days
And I don't need to think about things I don't want to think about
She called me up in the middle of the day
She said I love you in the middle of the night
I said In the middle of the night
Everybody loves everybody else in the middle of the day
She said
Take off your sunglasses
I don't wanna take my sunglasses
Take off your sunglasses
I said why don't you take off your sunglasses
She said I already have
I don't want to think about
Things I don't want to think about in the middle of the night
In the middle of the day I don't want to think about
Things I don't want to think about in the middle of the night
I don't want to think about it
I don't want to think about it
I don't want to take off my sunglasses
Everybody's unworthy and
Everybody loves everybody else and
Everybody takes off their sunglasses
Oh baby I don't want to fall into the patterns
Oh baby, she said
Take off your sunglasses
I don't wanna take my sunglasses
Take off your sunglasses
I said that's like me asking you to take out your shoelaces
So she took out her shoelaces
This song perfectly encapsulates what it feels like to unknowingly take out your depression on a loved one.
Wow
I discovered this song while washing dishes at an apartment I lived at in Upland, in about 2009. This song came on the stereo on 88.7 kspc. I fell in love with it and have listened to it almost religiously since. I can't believe it's the end of April, 2020 and it's less than 100,000 views
Come on people. This is the epitome of good music
I used to DJ at KSPC in college and would play this song all the time! Maybe you were listening to my show!
same
2021 and just discovered this song washing dishes at home... why I haven't heard it before I don't know. I need to wash more dishes.
Lmao. Kspc is zee best. Still listen to the videogame music show. Appreciate you guys!
@@FromIronbark lmao
I love her so much
Her new album is so good
I FORGOT HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS SONG
who asked
@@kobalt3095 why r u a cyber bully
For years, I felt like this song spoke to a deep, personal understanding of my own struggles with depression. In that time, both Ezra and I have come out as transgender. Maybe there was something to that feeling.
I always come back to this song, I love how it doesn't have dislikes and it's been 8 years since it was published lol
Summer 2022 and just discovered this song from Ezra. Thanks Stuart at FM4 in Austria for playing on my morning commute. Now I see the video and just love how many pairs Ezra wears during the “interview”!
If it weren't for Sex Education, it would have taken more than 11 years for me to come across this song.
I NEVER FORGOT HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS SONG
How is this person not HUGE !! Dylan. Bowie. Bolan esq Plus original stuff. A STAR IS COMING. GX
I love this song, sooooooooooo funny!!! Love the whole Retro Bob Dylan thing too, great song & concept!
I'm so thankful for some music without crazy metaphors. just a straightforward story about a girl and her sunglasses!
Got the same vibe when I heard first time “hurricane” by Bob Dylan and it’s awesome
"I said, I never get to go on any vacations I gotta go to work everyday!"
This should have more views than anything else on the whole dumb internet. The comic timing and genius in this music video is un-nameably and uncannily good. All these years later is it just as thrilling
LOVE IT!!!
ahh this song 💘
I Love that song! Boníssimaaa
Why does this give me the same vibes as a Beatles interview??
Because you're basic
Lou Reed + Pixies = Awesome!
Indeed. With a large helping of Bob Dylan.
Found this song on accident and my life was changed hehe
Wow - I believe this!
What a talent! Amazing. Keep rocking Ezra!
This is my favorite music video of all time

Edgar Ochoa lyrics

Take off your sunglasses!
Cool song. I hope the Warren Zevon estate doesn't sue. Sounds an awful lot like "Splendid Isolation "
lol.. really? I'm familiar with Zevon. Seriously?
Can't you take me
MAN I LOVE THIS GUY , HIS LYRICS AND VOICE (AND A LITTLE LESS THE MUSIC) MAKE ME ADORE THE MUSIC STYLE :P
it's a "her" or "they". Ezra Furman indeed is a woman!
@@77sebaseb just to clarify ezra is a transgender woman, that’s not to say that reduces the legitimacy of her womanhood. however, as of the recording of this song she was living as a man and so the original commenter was correct in their gender assumption. indeed even at the time of them commenting ezra identified as genderqueer and so, again, they were correct in their comment. however, now she identifies as a woman. (of course their is the point to be raised that she was always a woman but only realised this in her life due to societal pressures, norms and an eventual journey of self discovery - however for the contexts of the original commenter in terms of which pronouns are correct at their time of commenting and the time of recording the song and filming the music video, they were correct in the usage of pronouns). i hope that clarifies it for you and please feel free to let me know if any of my information is wrong as i’m always happy to learn :).
@@jared_wp no, your information is not wrong. :) Thank you very much at this point for your effort and the clarification of the facts. Of course, I was already aware of all this. My comment, that should be clarified here, was less a "rebuke" of the commentator than a clarification. Statement. Passing on information. Call it what you like. In fact, while writing my original post, it had not occurred to me that my statement could be seen as an affront or reproach. Sorry at this point, also to "PFH". The main thing is that he/she/they has achieved and touched us somewhere with his/her/their music.
And that is a good thing.
Stay safe.
and she never did 😎😎😎😎
Such a tired music video😂 but i looooove this song 😍
I wonder how the Ezra of today rates this masterpiece
Oh, guesses high? Everyone is.... Huh? Take off your sunglasses
Sunglasses
i'm not the marrying type but if I were I would want this to play at my gay wedding
🐦
Are you telling me this song is nearly half my age... and yes I do feel exceptionally old ok.
COREY WORTHINGTON

Channeling Bob Dylan and Jacob Dylan
