I just bought a new MS400C w/20" b&c this week. It rips for sure!
Nice comparison video! 400c and 500i were screaming and made great woodchips! A great combination of saws Scheib!
Consider a can't hook or a timber jack. You are going to hurt your back. Good cutting.
I have one but it kind of sucks lol
My favorite sound on the entire Earth is the sound of a hungry saw, idling away, ready to send the chips flying!
No better way to spend the day!
It took me 5 months after I ordered my Ms 400cm, with a 24 inch bar. I wish I would have ordered it a year ago! What a great addition to my woodyard! Keep up the great videos.
I bought my new saw on Monday and it’s a Ms 400c , can’t wait to get it on some wood soon .
Great Vid Scheib!! Both saws are cutting fine except for the Rock Incident! that happens a lot here in NH especially cutting stumps close! seems they get sucked up as the tree grows! oh well! have a great day with many miller lights!
Sharp chainsaws good, noisy bark boxes bad 👎 I can't believe your neighbors don't complain. Nice pile of wood there my friend. Keep on wackin and stackin!
Impressive as the ms400 is, the 500i is in a league of its own. Great video. Thanks
Chains are sharp!!...Do you use a full-house or a skip chain in that type of hardwood?
Music to my ears Scheib!!👍🤘
scheib really knows how to use the saw without gettin the chain in the dirt sum people can't do that
Two great saws!!👍🏻
That 400 blew thru those logs while the chain was sharp. Nice saw!
Getcha a LogOx brother, trust me!
Both saws looks like they are really cutting great
Looked to me like that 400 pulls hard and stays up in rpm consistently through the cut vs. your 500 sometimes stalls in the cut and doesn’t stay pulling on the rpm as consistently. Good throttle response on the 400 as well. Looked like for your cutting style it’s a great saw! Good demo Scheib!👍🏻
Nice saws Scheib definitely getting those round cut up, and yes less clean up is better but not always the case
Barkin load . Love the sound of the bark box. Nice looking red oak. Take Care Scheib !!!
Good cutting saws man! That 400 sounds sweet, happy cutting. Take care!
You sure are throwing some nice big chips there scheib. That 400 is impressive 👏
Very nice cutting!! Your firewood is adding up. 😎🔥
Ripper saw with the bark box!
Great video brother! That 400c is a little beast with that bark box on it 👍
there's a guy in Pennsylvania name of Mike Morgan he's got the 881 stihl saw the largest one that's made
We all know that the 500i is a beast, but that 400 held it's own as well. Nice side by side comparison.
Wow nice saw sound great!!! My MS 362 with screw adjustments sputters at high RPM but that 400 sound awesome!!! Thanks for the video😁👍🚜💨💡
That 500 is a monster but that 400 sounds great with that bark box on it !!! Good video .
Great cutting!! Saw ran excellent. Have a Safe Day
Awesome video thanks! Looks like either saw would be a excellent choice, they get the sawdust flying for sure 👍🏻
Bark Box is music to the ears.
Thanks hats some nice stuff for tree service wood! Lot of wood cut in just a short amount of time. Time for a splitting video
Two nice saws!
Cool cuttings Scheib, no time waiting on either saw to do it’s thing ,..fast .👍👍. Catch ya later 🍺
Looking like you're getting a pretty good pile going on behind you there Scheib. Good running saws. Nebraska WoodSTR
That 400 rips. Impressive.
Nice looking oak there Scheib! Whooooo!
Love your effort!
hopefully in April I'm goin to get the ms 661 magnum from stihl I've got 461 it's one bad ass saw
I love my 400c I'd love to run a 500 I can imagine it's just that much nicer to run the bigger brother
Looks like the 400 gave the 500i a run for its money. Both seem pretty equal cutting that oak. Nice job.
Ran the bark box on my 400, torque is stronger, had to remove it as it is to loud for residential tree work.
In remote areas its acceptable
Both saws were singing today 👍. Curious as to how close your nearest neighbor is and if you got any noise complaints after putting the bark box on.
I was shopping few months ago ended up with a 261c. Almost went bigger but ended up with the featherweight with 18inch bar. Seems to be enough saw for now.
How are you liking the 261c? Any regrets not going with a bigger saw? I mostly just do firewood and am having trouble deciding between the 261c, 400c, and 462c.
Swapping out the OEM muffler for the Bark Box, do you know if that affects the warranty on the saw??
I do not know that’s a good question though.
Scheib that 400 is pretty nasty! I'm not a stihl guy but they both rip!can definitely tell the 500 has alittle more pull, but keep the revs up with a 20"bar on that 400 and I bet they cut side by side on wood under 20" good video..
Like the 500i
I hate to see someone cut a log and let the chain get way down in the dirt schieb does what I do I cut it then roll it over and finish the cut
Thanks for the video. Both saws were cutting great. It looked lime 24" bars on both? I'm still leaning toward the 500i. That's some nice looking oak! It looks like you have a good inventory built up for next year. Although you never have enough! Cheers
never enough
Good day Scheib. Thanks for the video on weighing the Light bar you did a while back. If I can ask: what bar length were you running on the 400 today? And, have you ever run a 462? If so - did you find the difference in torque/power noticeably different from the 400? Thanks so much!
GP,
I am running the 25" on the 500I and my buddy is running a 25" on the 400c. The 500i is more torquey then the 400c but both cut well through normal tree sizes. I haven't tried cutting the full length of the bar with the 400c yet so I don't know how it would perform but the 500I runs pretty flawless with the full length of the bar buried in wood. hope this helps. With that being said in my opinion if you are looking to upgrade I would go with the 400c unless you have some monster wood laying around.
Boy you run into some nice oak. I generally just get scraps from my hunting property.
Is that the 400 you picked up down here near me?
That thing cuts great
Yep! That’s my 400. It’s the one I got from down near you.. thanks once again for the tip on where to find one! 👍
@@iandonley9762 no problem. Glad to help out
keep er out of the dirt wild man
Both saws were angry.
I come home and my neighbors oak tree is gone I know where to find it! 🤣
Hey Scheib, just curious of the price difference between the 2 saws? Looks like that 400 will keep up with that big dog!
About 500$
I paid $869.00 for my 400 out the door! I have heard of price variances depending on where you buy. So I would say $500-600 would be correct?
Yeah 5-600 bucks
Nice
I didn't think that 400 would shut down that thing was getting it
Is the 400 much lighter than the 500 I'm looking for something to cut stuff in the 12 to 14 inch range and my 500 just seems like a bit overkill and can you notice any difference with the light bar on the 500 they want 175.00 for a new one
there's one person said year before last he wanted sum hickory so I cut it and got it split and he still hasn't come to get it if I knew where he lived I'd take it to him that's what pisses me off sum want the dam wood then don't come get it
Scheib. Where is your safety chaps?
To loud what does your nabors think 🤔
Why don’t you wear chaps and a face shield? I’d hate to see you get hurt. I am religious about safety gear, obviously can’t prevent all injuries but that’s why they make it!
The next saw is a 400c.
How long of a bar on the 400?
25"
Run it with a 20 that thing rips I have 3 of them
Scheib, with that 400cm, who needs the 500i, sounds like a 661, Stihl 💪🪵👍🏼🇺🇸
