No-commentary gameplay of X-Men. Default settings, 4 Players UBB Version. Played with MamePlus 0.134, no tools, cheats, autofire, or save states were used. Completed with 1 credit.
This version of the game is the worst by far. As another Konami games, like Bucky O'Hare or Metamorphic Force, the US Versions were harder due to some changes in the gameplay.
These are the changes we can find here:
-No pink sentinels, so no energy or extra mutant powers through the levels.
-There is no possibility of doing three different attacks. In other versions you can perform three different attacks: the normal attack just pressing the button, a stronger attack with more range pressing up-right/left and the attack button, and another stronger attack pressing down-right/left and the attack button.
-Mutant powers can be used only when the energy indicator is at 3 or less. If we use them before that, we will lose energy. In the other versions you use first your extra mutant powers, then you start losing life.
-Different layout of the enemies.
-The second level is completely different.
-Some characters are even worse in this version. For example, Colossus jump attack is slower.
-This version is endless. There is no difficulty increase in further loops.
-One good thing is that we receive an extra mutant power at the end of each level. This doesn't happen in the other versions because we can get extra mutant powers from the pink sentinels.
Colossus's special move was so damn loud that it could be heard at the entrance of an arcade. In a super noisy place where every arcade machine was going ape shit, you hear coming from the back "GWAAAAAAAA!!!" and it was a like a moth to the flame for me. Good times... :(
haha! I distinctly remember that now!
Omg I love that noise, reminds me of all my old birthday parties, that and constant Spider Stomp sounds
Mike Lummox for real man
yes, LOL, I remember it so well in the arcade.
AHahahahah!!😂🤣 So true bro😁
I miss the 90s all together we had the best of everything. Arcades, Classic Games, The Sega Channel..... I do miss having rolls of quarters in my pocket.
I have great memories of playing this game as a little kid with my cousin and my sister. We spent many hours working that machine.
Yeah I love this game
"Welcome to die!"
"I am Magneto: Master of Magnet!"
me: *sigh*
It should have been "I am Magneto: Master of Magnesium!"
It was developed by the Southeast Asians, they don't know how to Engrish
I always imagined Professor X as the singer of the X-X-X-X-men level music
"Pyro will tear you t-" *FACE PUNCH*
i thought it was "Pyro will turn you to toast!"
Nimrod is a super advanced sentinel from the future. He's small and mostly white (like snow). Master Mold exists in the "present" of the X-Men storyline and his body is used to manufacture sentinels. The giant enemy sentinel that appears in this game is Master Mold.
Thanks for uploading this. So much nostalgia watching it. I spent so many quarters playing this at our local pizza place. Colossus/Nightcrawler were my favorites.
I remember playing this game when i was a kid (and the simpsons and 2 wrestling games) good memories :D
thank you for uploading this!
You know those kettleball weights? Imagine getting slugged with one of those. That's what it would be like to get punched by Colossus.
Awesome!
You are a great arcade player, this games are fking hard
Games of hell xD

now entering die
population: every one who is dead
In the comics Master Mold and Nimrod were once fused together. I think that's what this character is.
*Nothing moves The Blob!*
This will forever be my favorite line in this game, even among all the glorious hammy comedy gold of the voice acting.
Very impressive display of skill in defeating the X-Men game. This game was one of my favorite arcade games, even though i'm not as good as you are. My favorite character was Wolverine.
+TimelordR The problem with this version (the American one) is that a few movements were removed, so it makes some characters even worse. I explained the differences in the description. I recommend playing the Japanese one as it is more balanced. If you want an easy time pick Storm. Wolverine and Nightcrawler are also good choices. Colossus and Cyclops are probably the worst. My favourite character is Wolverine too, but there were already some gameplays with him, so I decided to pick a different mutant.
You wil- AUUUUUUGGGHHH!!!!!
Can't get any better than the dialogue in the game! A TRUE classic lol.
Where is Soda Pop Inskey, lol?
Jackie Shandy This has nothing to do with that game
I know son I was clowning
How did you even find my comment here on this video?
:-)
As an adult you can really tell which parts are designed to get the quarters coming, the blue flames are usually where we started needing to insert more coins.
The thing i loved about this game is that it never ends really, literally you can play over and over again if you are smart enough. I clearly remember defeating Magneto and give my turn to another dude watching my game for free
That was nice of you to do
The moment you notice Colossus' last hit in his combo is a bitchslap.
TheReivenlocke A Colossus bitch slap would leave a jaw in more pieces than any human's closed fist ever could.
3:12 "I will will turn you to "WACK!"
Nice work. I enjoyed this. Brought back some great memories.
this game is a work of art...
Joder, menudo clasicazo =).
Ahh the good times. I played both versions of this game. WHich made me think the Japan version was easier than the American version. But that was back in the 90s. now today, most of the American games are now easy while Japan games are a big mix. With some of them being insane. Like with some bullet hell Shoot em ups.
Dominque Doty Yes, actually, there are many different versions with little differences depending on the region and the number of players. I pointed out the most important ones in the description (it's in English below the Spanish part). But basically, Japanese version is a lot easier. And yes, I think that at the moment, most difficult games come from Japan: Dark Souls, Ninja Gaiden, bullet hell shooters...etc. But some indie games are also pretty difficult and they come from Europe/USA, so I suppose that if you want a challenge, you have a wide range to choose from :)
I remember playing this in the arcades 24 years ago it played similar to TMNT 3 The Manhattan Project, also made by Konami
kool... i remember spending hours playing this game over and over... you're right... storm is the best person to choose... worst though is cyclops... except of course if you were looking for a challenge...
SWEET X-MEN ARCADE !!!!
No, that's Master Mold. He may actually be over a hundred times as big in the comics, but this is one of his designs.
Did Colossus borrow those red thigh high boots from Zed of Zardoz?
Google, like I told another user in this very vid's comments about Wikipedia, is not all that accurate.
If you look at the robot here and at pics of Nimrod, there are clear differences in their builds. Since full links can't be posted in UA-cam comments, I can show you these differences through a message if you like.
Also, as I mentioned to the other guy, Nimrod moves more nimbly than this boss, and usually levitates to get around. This boss is slow and plodding, also like Master Mold.
Colossus may have been the worst character, but most kids playing this game as I remember didn't care, as they'd instantly use up his special (which would cost you all your life when you did), get hit once, die, and repeat the same process, and then have to insert money in short order. Very few people as I recall actually figured out that was the absolute wrong way to play the game and only made your money drain that must faster. Everyone of course wanted to play Wolverine (as did I) since...well...it's Wolverine. Also neither this video nor the emulator can capture how freaking LOUD this cabinet was, nor how weirdly it was mixed (explosions were mixed super loud versus everything else, when an enemy died you KNEW it the game must've had one hell of a subwoofer in there, and of course Colossus' super). Good times.
It's nimrod. Master Mold is a giant sentinel which may or may not make a cameo later in the game. Technically, all sentinels are supposed to be giant, but this game shrinks them.
I love the fact that they threw Living Monolith in the game as a boss. They used his "Revenge of the Living Monolith" look.
Wendigo sounds like he's hitting a wrestling ring mat.
HOLY SHIT!!! GOOD MEMORIES!!!
Seriously, when Cyclops uses his eye beam,he sounds like he is saying "ICE CREAM! I WANT MY ICE CREAM!"Lol!
Brown suit Wolverine and Dazzler, such a great period
Holy crap I remember spending like $30 on this arcade when I was little...
I have this game on my PS3, I downloaded from the PlayStation store. My question for you is, will all the strategies you use here work on the PS3 version? I have noticed a few differences in how the bosses fight and things like that.
+Chuck Williams Hi Chuck! Well, I haven't tried the PS3 game of X-Men but I have just watched a video and it seems you can choose the rom (region) and the kind of cabinet (2/4/6 players). There are several versions of the arcade depending on the number of players, the region and some other minor things. I listed some of the differences in the description box (it's in English below the Spanish part). I would say that the strategies I show in this video work in all of them, but I guess that if you choose the USA rom and the 4 players cabinet, you will have the exact version of this gameplay. However, I recommend playing the Japanese version, as it has all the movements and it is more balanced. Sorry for not being very helpful, but I hope you can use all the strategies I show here.
Regards!
That was awesome. Hey how do I get this for my computer or a ROM of it?
I would play as either Cyclops or Wolverine.
i loved this game i remember playin this in the burger king arcade way bac in the day
Also,The Sentinels are supposed to be used only by The US Government, but I suppose I am only nit picking?I can not wait to see them in XMEN:1ST CLASS 2:DAYS OF FUTURE PAST!!Gonna be so sweet!!
Lol I like the fight with the blob...thats exactly how I picture it in real life
Oh, and great playthrough, MrMaskaman. And with Colossus!
If you had allowed rating for this vid, I definitely would've given this a "thumbs up". :)
The Colossus roar so beastly.
I remember sinking 5 dollars into this with 3 friends at a birthday party and beating it. We fought over who got to be Colossus. I'm sure we wasted money by simultaneously using Mutant Powers but who gives a shit.
I grew up with this game. This is just the easy and short version. There is one x-men arcade harder than this, though you play good.
Thanks! No, this is not the easiest version of the game as it's the US one. If you read the description of the video (it's in English at the end of the text), I pointed out the main differences with the rest of the variations. I don't think there is a longer or harder one, maybe the 6-player version, but I'm not sure about that.
Thanks for uploading. You motivated me to try and beat this game. Did you use turbo buttons?
I'm glad that my video made you feel motivated to try beating it. No, I don't use autofire. I consider it as cheating, although some players don't. I don't think it would be too useful with this game anyway.
Yeah in some games it's a convenience and in some games it feels like cheating. Thanks for getting back to me
Colossus always fought dirty apparently
Bastion was what happened when Mastermold and Nimrod were fused together into one being by the Siege Perilous. Before that, Mastermold "infected" Nimrod and took him over. This thing looks like Nimrod with Mastermold's head.
The Wiki page says wrong (and that wouldn't be a first for a Wiki page, either). The color and size of this boss is Nimrod's, but the overall design is definitely Master Mold's. Adding to this is that Nimrod's always been portrayed as being pretty quick (and often levitates). Master Mold is usually slow and plodding, as he is shown in this very vid.
My FAV arcade game!!!!!
Holy shit the devs put alot of effort into this.
Good job! I was wandering how the bosses could be defeated, thank you!
Wow you made Magneto your bitch. Great play through and very informative strategies. Cheers.
madbomberxp Thank you! I hope it has been helpful. You can always try with better characters as Storm or Wolverine, who make the game easier. Regards!
Partidaza.
Excellent playthrough. I would like to make a point though that the fourth boss is actually not Master Mold. That's actually Nimrod.
Thanks! Yes, I know, many people have told here in the comments. I only know the main characters from X-Men and I copied the names of the bosses from Mame History and it seems it is wrong.
No worries. In all honesty Nimrod is a rather obscure character so I'm not surprised the name Master Mold came up before him. But then again this arcade uses a number of characters in that sort of manner considering this is based on the X-Men pilot that came out in the late 80s. Mystique, the Reavers (those dudes that look like their torsos were put on tanks), Wendigo, Nimrod, the Sentinels as a whole and the Living Monolith (that statue you have to fight as a boss) aren't in that at all so, yeah, it is what it is lol.
@@doomsday2703 I luv every villain from this game. Especially Nimrod and Wendigo. How could you not luv Magneto but errbody else family too🥰
*sigh* Here we go again...
The fourth boss is clearly Master Mold. It's the same chest plate and plodding movement. They just shrunk him and colored him white here.
What in the heck is Magneto doing controlling the anti-mutant sentinels?
Is there any rhyme or reason to what type of jump attack you get or when you get a throw?
Jump attacks depend on the moment of the jump at which you press attack. Throws are automatic and depend on your position in relation to the enemy. After that you have to wait a while before your character does it again.
@@MrMaskaman By wait awhile do you mean it's all time. Like you could idle? Do we have an estimate on how long the time is?
@@NotRegret Yes, you can idle. I can't really tell, but probably around 10 seconds. Maybe less.
@@MrMaskaman Do you know a reliable way to do the down foward attacks?
@@NotRegret In the USA versions is totally random, but if you play the Japanese one (and maybe the European, I can't remember), you can do that movement and the up forward attack any time you want.
I know this is years old, but,,,,
1.Thank you for reminding me of a game I wasted a ton of quarters on as an 11 year old.
2.Awesome job you did here with the worst character choice just to show how much ass you can kick at this game,(I always picked Nightcrawler)
3.Mystique is a bitch. Her own son is in this game and she tries to kill him.
4.Finally, neither Wolverine or Colossus should ever be able to beat Magneto alone. One has metal covered bones and claws, the other, metal skin.
Michael Y Many thanks for your comment. I used to pick Wolverine and Nightcrawler when I was child but I couldn't last too long, haha. I decided to pick Colossus because I thought that most people would pick Storm (because of her long range). Colossus and Cyclops are the worst choices in my opinion and I also like challenges. Anyway, I'm glad that you enjoyed the gameplay. Maybe I'll upload a different gameplay with better quality and showing a different versions (you have the differences listed in the description of the video). Cheers mate.
BEAST!!
¡Que soy de la tierra!, jaja. Gracias hombre. ¡Un saludete!
Good times...
Yeah...but Colossus' 360 attack is stand alone...
WhAts ghe name of this game and how can i find it i just to play it when i was a kid
I am also looking for sunset riders
The game is simply called X-Men or X-Men The Arcade. In order to play these games you need to download MAME which is an emulator of arcades. I think that there should be some kind of "portable" versions of the games, so you don't need to install anything. Search for "Sunset Riders Arcade portable" and "X-Men Arcade portable". I hope I've been helpful.
NICE PLAY very good
Heh, I just found some pages of that adventure. Yeah, it might actually be fair to say that the boss here is another version of that previous Master Mold/Nimrod fusion.
I don't know. I always pick Colossus. I like his special move. :D
I think the boss you're referring to as Master Mold is actually Nimrod.
Robert Murray There's a discussion about that here in the comments. I just copied the information from Mame History, as I'm not an expert in X-Men. So, I don't know if he's Nimrod, Master Mold or Lex Luthor, haha.
***** Fair enough, always just trying to help. The reason I think it's nimrod as opposed to master mold, is master mold is pretty huge, like big enough to assemble a sentinel inside his body (couple dozen stories?), whereas nimrod is more humanoid in size, and he like the boss in the video has a white body with a sort of hot pink faceplate. I'll be the first to admit I could be wrong too, it was more of head scratching moment, watching the vid going: Is that really master mold? cuz I think it's....bah! nm......Good playing bud!
In the booklet of spiderman and x-men VS arcade, the photo of master mold is the same as the version in this game.
X-MEN WELCOME TO DIE!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Why is magneto leading the sentanels they where built to kill mutants
excelent
22:43 the reason we are here
31:10
33:17
the master of magnet!
Posdata: Si tienes Skype, dimelo, me caiste bien
*****
Thats early version of Nimrod, not Master Mold
Yeah I played this in the arcade and if you think you could three hit bosses over and over you're high...this shit was weak af
No, that is indeed Nimrod. Do a Google image search for "Nimrod" "Xmen"
even i cant beat this game without loosing a life
I recommend you using Storm. She has the longest range, making the game a lot easier.
Master Mold?
That's Nimrod, bro.
+BlackChapters There has been a long discussion about that in previous comments. As I told other users, I don't know too much about the X-Men, so I just copied the names of the bosses I didn't recognize from Mame History. It said it was Master Mold and I guess I believed it, haha.
Oh.
Yeah Master Mold is actually a Sentinel 10x the size of normal Sentinels, he can mass produce them.
+BlackChapters Well, in the comics, Nimrod became the Master Mold, so...
you have skills bro, may i know what diff. is this on?
excellent playthrough
20.29 What is that monsters name ?
I'm not an expert on X-Men but I think that most minions were created by Konami specifically for this game. The only exception would be the sentinels.
cool
english plz freinds how can i down load this game playing to my pc
I already stated the proof, but if you need to see it, I'll have to see if I can send it in a message, since you can't post direct links in UA-cam comments.
No that really is Nimrod.
Well done!
2:34, save state loaded, JK!
That's from the rendering with Camtasia! haha. I would be a very bad player if I needed to use a save state in the first stage!
I did see you lose health in the second stage though by one of the big robots though
That Robot is not Master Mould, it is Nimrod. A super robot.
u
There is a discussion about that in the comments. I'm not an X-Men expert, so I just copied the information from Mame History. Some say it's Nimrod and others say it's Master Mold.
***** The Pink face gives it away. Master Mould is just a massive Sentenel.
Play this game with Wolverine.
