I appreciate the information. Too many coin videos waste time, but you get to the point quickly and accurately...thanks!!
Thank you. I still stack the ASE, but pick these up when I can, simply for the history and love of the coin.
Nice, no-nonsense video. Just purchased 18 Morgans from a friend. Almost passed them over but couldn't at $21 each.
Just recently expanded my interest into Morgan dollars. In the uk we appreciate all the info we get from the home grown experts. Watched with great interest your vid on these Morgan dollars. Hope to see more. Thanks.
How big is the fake Morgan coin market.thanks.ronkutch
I had a few of these (two uncirculated 1883's) back in the 1970's. When silver prices skyrocketed in 1980 my brother took them and sold them to put gas in his car! I just started buying a few to remind me of a time when America meant something.
They're definitely worth hanging on to.
I have a full set of Morgan dollars all 96 and a few varieties as well
What on earth does America meant something mean

I liked the Vam video, Now I have more great finds to look for Thank you very informative
very informative i hope to keep following in order to get better acquainted with the process
Great video picked up a lot from you today, just started with Morgan and Peace Dollars...
Man that was a cool video. I like Morgan and Peace Dollars and the information you shared is exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks my friend.
Hi there, just started collecting, especially silver dollars, but know absolutely nothing about coins. I pulled out some of my Morgan silver dollars from 1885-1901 and followed along with you. Unfortunately, mostly Philadelphia, SF & New Orleans. No Carsons so far, but have more more stashed away, hope to find something really rare, but mainly just having fun listening and learning from you. Many thanks

Thanks for watching! Glad to help.
My husband has a lot of the Morgan coins, his mom started saving them when he was born back in 1958... my husband also has some of the older coins, dimes, nickels and etc. this information is very helpful, thank you.
If you like to collect high value gold/silver, you gotta reply with your number NOW!!! I can give you the highest quality/valuable coins for a lot lower than the market value.

Hi Denise I found this list over how many Morgan dollars were made, where they were made and what years. Hope it's useful :) morgandollars.net/morgan-dollar-mintage/
You trying to sell them huh 😂
Thanks again for sharing this information with us all!😊🙏🏼👍🏼 Lots of Love Bobbi 😊
Just came across a 1884 cc minted at work a customer just handed it over. Soon as I felt the weight I knew it was something special I bought it out my drawer immediately. It's now for sale will verify
Hey man Thank-you for the clear simple and awesome VIDEO! Morgans are my fav, my grandpa was a merchant marine in ww2 and he use to give me a morgan every year if i behaved when he baby sat me ! lol, man soooo happy i held onto them all these years.
Just started a few months ago. This helps glad I found this video.
Thanks for the video! I'm just obsessed with the Morgan!
Very informative! I went from ignorance to enlightenment, and that is always a good feeling. Thanks
I've got a bunch of these I inherited. The best looking one I found was a 1887 S. It's in very good condition still. Very very light signs of wear, but it so shiney and doesn't seem to have changed color like all the other ones I i have.
Dante Guerra i would be skeptical about that really shiny one. These coins are all over 100 years old and unless it's in a capsule It would seem like someone tried to clean it. Cleaning a coin will Destroy its value and most likely you'll have to sell it at melt value. of course it might not be but if you take it to a shop that's the first thing thats going to catch their eye.
cj Miller hi there! Thanks for the response. I'm fairly niave when it come to coins. The Morgan's I have are not in a hard plastic protector, rather that cardboard and plastic deal (don't know what that is called). I've always known about these coins, but the box I undeartherd the other day has not seen the light of day since probably 1955. I was planning on selling the higher ticket ones, but I also plan on keeping the majority of them because I've recently started started stacking silver... Any advice as to how to get them gradded/appraised? I'm hesitant to take them to the local guy in town because the Google reviews all say he's quite the fraudster.
Dante Guerra I'm pretty muxh a beginner myself bud. I'd suggest checking online to see if you have any rare dates. If you do find some valuable ones you can send them in to PCGS of NGC to get them professionally graded. Not sure how much that costs though. But good luck bud. I wish you the best.
I just bought a 1892 Morgan CC last week. WOOT!
Thx for sharing! I learned a lot
Thank you for the video, I just purchased my 1st 1888 morgan silver dollar yesterday and I'm hoping to continue with coin collection
I have some to sell if you intrerested you can contact me on fb Dyanand Paramhance
If it's a CC, it is fake
In all of my years of metal detecting I have never found a silver dollar or a single gold coin! I've found many silver dimes and quarters, and maybe a couple half dollars. I'm convinced that people just never lost silver dollars very often and children probably never played with them because that was a lot of money back in those days.
Those are definitely the tough ones. Yeah, they were probably guarded much closer back then.
What's the best metal detector for a newbie?
Nice collection. Thank for helpful video
I have a 1890 Carson City silver dollar!
Good stuff ModernMiner! I feel like I know more about american silver coins than I do about the ones here in the UK :D. Sub'd.

I collect coins. Overall, my favorites are the Walking Liberty Halves, Winged Liberty, (Mercury Dime), and the Silver Eagle, designs by Adolph Weinman. That being said, my favorite coin I have is a 1878 Morgan Silver Dollar w Beautiful Toning on the Reverse. I bought it for $25 from a coin shop. The Numismatist at the shop said it would grade AU. I sent it to PGCS and they graded it AU58. I have many coins that are worth far more, yet that is my favorite coin!
Thank you very much about all the information
Very well described and to the point. Well done.
One comment on rarity: the mintage number can be an initial clue...but it's important to never use that as a factor in your conclusions on (rarity/value). Why? Because, in addition to mintage...other factors can easily overwhelm the mintage number, in determining value/absolute rarity. How so? Two biggies (for affecting rarity, way beyond mintage): What percentage of the coins were released (by the mint) in the year they were minted? They may have held onto them for decades, before release...meaning even a low mintage could have low value, as many examples may exist. Another: How many were melted down? Huge...as there were three MAJOR silver melts (affecting Morgans) in the last 100 years or so: The Pittman Act of 1918, WW11, and the silver price spike of 1980. These all resulted in Morgans being melted. Here's a shocking example: the Morgan, 1886 (O). Over 10.7 MILLION WERE MINTED! So you'd think it's just a common date...BUT NO; IT'S ONE OF THE MOST VALUABLE MORGANS OUT THERE, AS EVEN A(REALLY UGLY, BEAT UP, BAG-MARKED MS 60 EXAMPLE, WILL FETCH AROUND $700 TO 900 usd. And one that is MS 65...will be worth over $100,000. So...obviously, all or nearly all were released in the 1880's late, and likely most were melted down...as you just don't see many. Thanks for the video.
I don't have any of the rare or more valuable ones, but I do have the 1878-P (8 tail feathers), 1889-O and 1921-D. Those cost me enough, the rarer ones cost a lot more to own. Three examples is enough for me. The way I look at it is I have the original design, the regular design and the last re-created design dates.
Great video and I love the way you use your words. They are less rare not as hard to find. You would make a very good salesman if you’re not one but your video was really good and very informative. I’d like to think I’m an expert on the Morgan’s that I learned a few things from watching your video. Thank you again.
Thank you for the Morgan video, as an all coin collector, the Morgan is my more interest. some are third AGC, PCGS, + singles, rolls. A coin example, dated, another same date but Worn almost flat, what a story of it's life cycle. The Mint created a story of our country.
I have a collection of VAMS also.

Hi I have a 1921 where is the D or the S on the back of the Corn that I should be looking for you have a great information
If it has a mintmark, it would be centered under the wreath at the bottom, right above "DO" in "DOLLAR"
Thanks, it's an s.
Amos The Prophet I have a bunch of those. He is absolutely right. They made a lot, lol.
Amos The Prophet San Francisco right? ;)
I have an extremely good condition 1891 Morgan Dollar with an S mint mark on it which has been in my family for 4 generations. If 1893 - 1895 is very rare, Im assuming that my 1891 Morgan Dollar is extremely rare! Am I wrong on this? I just happened to stumble across your channel and was like, "Oh cool, I have one of those!" But I had no idea!! WOW!!
1891-S is a nice date. Worth quite a bit in MS64 or better! Cool stuff!
I’ve got two that my mom had and I took when she passed. Both are 1921 but one is a D and the other a S. Both are in fantastic shape, my guess quality would be “very good”. Worth is around $35-$40 from what I can find.
Very helpful video, thank you.

i just found a mint condition 1879 cc morgan dollar. how much do you think i can get on it from a collector?
I'd make sure that thing is genuine first. If it is, they can be worth a lot. I'd suggest comparing it to similar examples on eBay that have sold.
!@Sean Donovan sounds good i would love doing buisness=]
Me too but in Philadelphia
I just watched the PCGS Webinar Series on Coin Grading (its searchable here on UA-cam). Anyone wanting their Morgan's Graded should watch this... Just suggesting. Beware though because it's SOOOO subjective to the actual person at PCGS who happens to have YOUR coin come across their desk...
@@nerotikzombie , I know exactly what you are saying. When you buy the one's that are sealed, those coins are recorded. I know somebody who has one and he said it's worth $420. I don't know?
I have a 1921 morgan dollar
🕵️♂️ very informative thx!
Very informative. What is toning, and can you clean discolored coins without damaging them? Thanks
Toning is what you'd consider "tarnish" on other silver items. It happens when silver comes in close proximity to sulfur. It can be very nice and colorful, or dark and ugly, or anywhere in between. If pretty enough, it can significantly increase the value of a coin. No, I would not recommend cleaning coins. That should be left to professionals.

Where can I get an appraisal that is acceptable in most places. How expensive is an appraisal?
Is CC considered rare? (Carson City)
I see you have some with holes in them. My local coin shop has one for sale for 32$ is it worth it? It looks kind of dark like it went through some chemical reaction. But I just bought my first Morgan dollar today, 1897 in a great condition. They had it marked xf. So I’m just here doing some more research on them. But I just had that question, if the ones with a hole in them are worth buying.
Thanks!

Thank you for posting the information you did. I am not a collector in any way, however I came across letters, in my house in Italy which was built by my great grandmother during WWII....and I found a bunch of coinage, mostly Kennedy Half Dollars from the early 60's. However, I also found in a letter from my great grandfather to my great grandmother, as he went back and forth to the USA, beginning in the 1880's, a Morgan (I hope) Dollar, 1894, with no stamp, so per your info, Philly, and though it is not shiny and sparkly, it has never been in circulation so it simply appears a tad old. I have read to never clean them so it is, after 100+ years, aged but never been touched, until me and I am handling it like it is porcelain. I want to sell it and have seen them online being sold from 7000 Euros to much less. I have no idea as to its worth but as I am not a collector and I am not keeping it for sentiment's sake and it was simply something I found in a letter (though the letter from my great grandfather to his wife was incredibly emotional, especially given times)....and I would like to sell it. As is. Any advice, please? I would be grateful for any advice given the times we are in and in Italy, where I live, now, things are simply getting more stressful, financially. Anyway, any info you could share would be greatly appreciated. - Gary
Hi Gary, thanks for the comment. If you'd like, you could email me pictures of the coin at modernminer4@gmail.com. Since that would be an extremely rare date, I'd be interested in looking at it.

Is there an acceptable weight variation for Morgan dollars on either side of the standard 26.73g?
Based on what I've found, 26.73 grams +/- .097 grams. For grains, 412.5 grains +/- 1.5 grains. Although, examples with wear may be different. Hope this helps!
I have a coin like this that has no date and does not say if it is a dollar or what just stars all the way around both sides and on back above eagle “curved in 2 lines with the circled vine “ Troy ounce .999 fine silver” donu know whatnot may be?
Can you please publish a video regarding the 1921 coin with the sword and window?
I'd never heard of this coin before you mentioned it. It looks pretty cool! Obviously it's a modified 1921 Morgan dollar. But since I don't have one, and it would probably be difficult to find one, I'd be hesitant to do a video on it since I can't physically show what it does.
I enjoy looking at rear coins
I inherited 8 Morgan O coins. Don't know if they're regular or micro O. Years are 1883, 1884, 1885, 1898, 1899, 1901, 1902, & 1904. Coins are in sleeves & really good condition. What is a realistic price I could get for them?

Sorry for the late reply. The best way to get the highest price for your coin is on eBay. I can't tell you the value, but I can suggest that you compare it to examples on eBay that have sold.

I picked up a 1881cc in an old coin purse at a yard sale, from what I can tell from comparisons online it looks to be a vf to au type of condition (myself looking thru a 4x loop).....I know without looking it's extremely hard to say, but what would the range of value be ?. And also is it worth being graded ?......love your vids and straight to the point approach, will be subscribing after I type this. Thanks
www.usacoinbook.com/coins/dollars/morgan/
Price guides are great for comparing coins based on what's more valuable and what's not. Otherwise, I don't trust them. They cannot give real-time prices based on the most recent sales. That being said, VF-AU is a fairly broad range. There is also EF (XF) in between them, so let's say your coin is roughly EF. Coins in this grade range MAY realize prices stretching above $300. But the market fluctuates so much that it's hard to judge a coin sight-unseen. Your best bet is to research coins in that grade range that have sold. When doing so, some factors to keep in mind are damage, whether the coin's been cleaned or dipped, lighting and clarity (in the pictures of the sold coin), presence of dirt or other contaminants, and whether the coin has been professionally graded. Again, everything depends on the coin. I hope this helps. Thanks for subscribing!
I have a totally bizarre 1891 'O.' The colors are backwards on the face side, with a near-white background and warm-dark foreground (the lettering and most of the face). It's almost as if it's just silver-plated or something, but it's not magnetic and weighs 27 grams (my scale doesn't do tenths). The reverse looks mostly like tarnished silver with normal dark/light, except the eagle's chest is that white-silver!!
That is weird. If you want me to look at it you can email me pictures at modernminer4@gmail.com
I'm going to do it right now....er, in a few minutes, ha.
I have a 1893 cc and a 1895 cc morgan silver dollar in perfect conditions would these be worth anyting?
Well, unfortunately the 1895-CC is not real. Those were never made. If the 1893-CC is real, I'd recommend comparing it to examples on eBay that have sold.
I have one like silver coin 1840 and other one 1844 can you tell me like where should i go for like if i want to sale those or how much you think it gone be
I'd suggest a coin shop or perhaps eBay. Just make sure the coins are real first.
