Awesome video! I appreciate the tips and explanation. I just started using Prodiamine WDG this spring. I’ve got my eye on soil temps for this fall. I picked up bag of Feature too but haven’t applied it. Curious to see how your lawn responds. Don’t forget to share those pics. Curious how you’d compare Feature vs Double dark cocktail results wise?
I like using Prodiamine in the Fall/Winter and Dithiopyr in the Spring/Summer because Dithiopyr prevents Dallisgrass while Prodiamine does not. I am located in South Central Alabama...
Great, great video! I know we need to apply when the soil temperature reaches 70 degrees on Fall, but I think we need to look for 5 days average soil temperature. Did you already apply? You leave in NC, right? Am I thinking correctly? I live here also. I need to know because I dont want to lose the correct rime to apply it. Thanks.
Apply now! Apply before soil temps hit 70 because germination has begun...look at the forecast, lows in the 50s and highs in the 60s. With the extended period of effective coverage, no need to wait.
Awesome vid. Would this be the ideal preemergent for when putting down zenith zoysia seeds with as well?? If not, what would you guys recommend?? Thanks!
Do not apply a pre-emergent when seeding the lawn! It will prevent your seed from germinating as well since it doesn't discriminate. If you seeded earlier in the year, you are good to apply it now. Prodiamine or Dithiopyr are good, but Dithiopyr may be a bit better for your Fall application. I'm just going with Prodiamine.
Does anyone have experience with seeding zoysia with rye seeds?? Will this cause issues for my zoysia? I am hoping the rye will help keep the zoysia seeds from washout and also hide seeds from the birds
Where do I begin? Hopefully you don't have zoysia seed on the ground right now. If so, hopefully it has been growing for at least a couple of months. Typically you don't overseed zoysia but if the existing turf is thin enough, go for it. You will have to spray it out in the spring.
A to Zoysia - DIY LawnCare right now I just have prepped soil. Deciding wether I should go with strictly zenith zoysia seeds or mix it with rye. I’m getting mixed opinions on both but wanted to see what you would recommend.
That makes more sense. I don't know enough about your winter climate to answer for sure...BUT personally I would not seed zoysia with another grass type.
Good information, keep up the good work Paul.

I had already used Feature a few weeks ago. The biggest difference is that it needs to be watered in and you don't see an overnight color response.
I have that same Chapin 12G sprayer...what nozzle setup do you have? stock nozzle of a modified one? Thanks.
I have several but haven't found one I like for foliar apps. Teejet 110AI is a good one for large droplets.

Where do you live? Most places are way too late to seed zoysia right now. Florida may be the exception.
Sorry I should have included that I am in Hawaii
