@Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ his sister who made him feel utterly worthless, used him, cheated on him (with more than one person) lied to him multiple times and kept him from becoming an honourable man. He wasn't 'in love' with her only addicted to her treatment of him, which is a big difference. Cuz on some level he thought he deserved it. She used him as her arm of action to do things she could not do herself due to her position as a woman, exercised her willpower over him. This is a pattern of a toxic abusive relationship that has nothing to do with genuine feelings. If she truly loved him, she'd set him free to find his own life. Instead she literally tried to have him assassinated by Bronn because he dared step out of her control zone. Not to mention the whole while she was sitting comfortably at KL while he was put risking his life against the dead. So again tell me how exactly is their relationship an example of 'true love'?

The only consolation for me is the fact that everyone is angry at D&D for what they did to Jaime's character. I'm angry at D&D cos they always seemed to me to have an incest fetish lol. Jaime hasn't been in love with Cersei in the books for a really long time (since he came back with Brienne) and I'm just so upset they strayed from his redemption arc so much. On the other hand, great video!

Brienne had the best of him but it was only a part of him . He was both parts of the Lion the brave heart and the selfish brute. He died the way he wanted (or he wouldn’t have left Winterfell) but before he did he had a moment of friendship and love with Brienne sometimes in life that’s all we get R I P Ser Jaime!!

Atleast he didn't kiss Cersei before he died. He knew his heart belonged to Brienne. Especially with Cersei trying to kill him twice then all of a sudden she cares about him bleeding. Then they said he doesn't care about the innocent like wth? Jaime said he's not the same man he use to be but they kill him & Cersei under bricks. So forget his growth & his story especially with Brienne? The writers are terrible they ruined Jaime in one episode & I'm not ok. NCW Instagram post says it all without saying anything.

I'm so disappointed by his death, it was not supposed to be like this. Tyrion didn't even talked about Brienne when he saw Jaime ! The all acted as if nothing happened.. It was at the opposite of all the episodes of the season.
Anyway... Braime is endgame in our hearts.

Don´t even wait for logic this season anymore. They don´t care. Tyrion, who hates Cersei the most would never ever tried to convince her to surrender, never wanted her to live and never would have advised Jaime to try to save her. This is a bad joke! But even the actors agree, that season 8 makes noooo sense after episode 4.... Just watch the interviews...

This was lovely. There is no " TLOTR-style, bittersweet ending" to this show. We got screwed out of that by D&D. It's just bitter. I'm canceling my HBO subscription. I planned on getting the complete GOT set on blue-ray to re-watch, many times. Not anymore. Jaime, Brienne, Dany, Tyrion, Jon, Varys, and everyone else's story has been smashed in order to "subvert expectations". Apparently, shock value is more important than good, meaningful, storytelling. I seriously hope GRRM finishes the books, but I doubt he will. What a shame. He started out with the intention of giving us a darker, more complex version and tribute to TLOTR. It could have been his magnum opus. It could have been one of the greatest stories ever told. Jaime and Brienne seemed to be one of the most beautiful love stories ever told. But, no. We're just going to throw it all away to shock you.

This is beautiful. I'm watching the show again and I can see how much he loved her and he cared about. The last episodes didn't feel real, didn't make sense. I hate the writers, but I know that the character we saw through the seasons would never hurt Brienne that way, and their moments together are all I need.
This video is beautiful! Jaime loved Brienne and he loved Cersei, not in the same way he once did, but still in some way. I refuse to believe that he didn't love Brienne. Brienne was his future, his happiness, but he was trapped in the past. Him dying with Cersei will not change his love for Brienne in my mind. You can love two people. He knew Brienne would be okay without him, but Cersei would not. Tyrion didn't mention Brienne because he knew Jaime was the only one who could stop Cersei and end the war. Mentioning Brienne would have only made things harder. I'm broken-hearted - I wanted to hear him tell Brienne that he loved her...but he showed it, by not kissing Cersei, by not claiming to love her, by letting Brienne go. I truly feel like someone I know is gone. #braime4ever

I actually read an article saying that the valonqar prophesy was technically fulfilled because "Jaime had his arms around Cersei's neck when she choked on the dust from the rubble." People are really bending over backwards to justify rubbish writing.

Smithereens the prophesy wasn't even in a show bc it didn't match their fav twincest pairing narrative, they never cared for Brienne or even Jaime, their fav was Cersei. So both Tyrion and Jaime became a dumb versions of themselves and did everything for her.

Agree completely. I went back to the episode Oathkeeper to watch their "Inside the episode " take on the scene where they say goodbye as she leaves to find Sansa, but they completely ignored it! George must be so pissed at what they did to his character arc

Back in season 3 it was mentioned in the DVD commentary, that in the bath of Harrenhall Jaime basically "died" in Brienne´s arms. It was clearly stated, that that scene was a rebirth for him. So he technically did die in Brienne´s arms first.... Before D&D came along and took away all the logic and character development.

Y’all are going to have to stop with these videos, I’m bawling. I loved Jaime as a stand alone character, but also loved his relationship with Brienne. Jaime essentially had two arcs that he fulfilled that represented his internal conflict. His redemptive arc that represented the best parts of him was completed with Brienne and his family loyalty/toxic arc was completed with Cersei. I think the writing was underwhelming and rushed, but in the end EVERY character chose their house/family. Tyrion even wanted to save Cersei despite her being evil to him. The last scene of the two could be interpreted in so many ways including a brother protecting his sister/family.
Brienne had her own arc. She wanted to be respected for her skills and was rewarded by being knighted. Then when you think of the story she told about being called a beast and being undesired by the those boys who mocked her... she ultimately WAS desired as a woman and was loved. She was knighted and accepted by the man that SHE loved and a man who loved her.
It’s beautiful and tragic. I’m still in mourning. 😭
Edited to add: It’s hard not to reduce this to a “who did Jaime ultimately choose” soap opera cliche because of the rushed season but Jaime literally never kissed or had any sexual relationships with any other woman. So yeah, it was also a big deal that Jaime Lannister fell in love with and made love to another woman beside his sister.

I truly would have just been okay with them remaining friends, instead of seeing him break her trust.
Brienne has always guarded her emotions in fear that someone would take advantage or make a mockery of her, for even showing interest in anything that has been viewed as socially unattainable to her (being a knight or getting married).
However, all these seasons have built up her storyline with Jaime where it is only natural that she would have learn to trust that good things could happen for her as well.
Yet after all of this development, the writers still felt the need to leave her broken. 😢

This may be the proper progression of Jaime's arc that GRRM wrote, but I just can't condone it until I know more. I need to read the books and see what truly was in Jaime's heart.
If he was just a stupid man who got jealous or Tormund so he staked his claim of Brienne. Then after he has her and Tormund decides to leave, he all of a sudden had a change of heart and leaves her, only two days after taking her virginity...I will be disgusted. But that's how it basically played out in the show. He didn't even have the sense of dignity to face Brienne and tell her the truth until she came after him. He tried to escape in the night without her knowing. That is completely without "honor", which seems to be in contrast to Jaime altogether. His honor may have been tarnished, but it was still there.
There has to be more. Until then it just makes me too angry to even watch a Jaime video. Bummer, he was my favorite character.

I think Jaime went back to save his sister, not the woman he loved. I didn’t care for the way they died, very sad, but I think there was a twin/family bond there that made Jaime try to help her. He has always protected family. Now I keep thinking that maybe Tormund will have a shot (but he has to get over being so crude, Brienne will never go for that!)

This is truly a lovely video, thank you so much! Watching the video and reading comments is so healing for me....:) I think deep down in Jaime, he knows his heart belongs to Brienne; he gave her his heart the day he gave her the sword. His interactions with Brienne in many ways are already like a couple married for a long time. There's trust, respect, and love between them, unlike Jaime's relationship with Cersei. Although I am sad about Jaime's ending, I think his redemption arc is not wasted, and his going back for Cersei didn't stop him becoming a better person. He chose to be "hateful" as his sister in order to save her, although I think both Brienne and Jaime knew he would end up dying with Cersei. And I feel somehow Cersei was "redeemed" at the end of her life. Comparing with her reaction when seeing Jaime's amputee for the first time which was a feeling of disgust, I feel she was much more a human being here as she showed real concerns when noticing Jaime was hurt and bleeding. Somehow I feel Cersei is really lucky to have her brother willing to die beside her. Indeed during the slaughter of the King landing, the line between the good and bad became blurred: the Stark soldiers would rape innocent women while Lannister soldier would protect civilians. So perhaps Cersei is a human being who's still worthy of redemption after all. And although it's sad that Brienne would be alone, I think (and hope) Brienne would be strong, surrounded by people love her, and continue to live a noble life because of who she is. I hope her memory of Jaime would always be a sweet one and hope she can move on as well! Oh how I love Jaime and Brienne!!!

God I feel bad for Brienne. I remember her conversation with Pod about how her father held a ball for suitors for her and men danced with her and told her she was beautiful and that they wanted her only to find out they were doing it as a joke and Renly stepped in to dance with her and told her not to cry etc. She finally meets someone she feels worthy of losing her virginity to and he buggers off leaving her to feel all that pain once more. I really wish they hadn't had them sleep together.

The episode makes no sense and they did not do Jaime justice. Trying to balm my broken Tarthister heart I noted and repeat... Jaime did not kiss Cersei. I mean you are about to die and you see the woman you love for the Last time and you don't kiss her? Like hell, he doesn't love her like a lover anymore. My thoughts are that in his troubled mind he does the right thing. He tries to save his sister, tries to southe her by saying her words. But his heart is with Brienne and he dies by trying to do the right thing. The Euron thing and the I don't care about the innocents... Utter bullshit. Waiting for the books !
@Dimitra Tsoumpri YES! My gosh, I thought I was the only one who took notice of the non-kiss. Prior to watching the episode, I already knew that Jaime was going to die with Cersei because I have read the accurate leaks a week ahead. So I was sort of prepared, I just wasn't sure about the visuals. I mean I knew a lot already, I even knew he was going to say all that matters was them. The one thing I didn't know but was pretty sure was going to happen was that he was going to give a one last kiss but what a surprise, HE DIDN'T! At least with that detail, it leaves more room to interpret his actions.
The fight with Euron was a freaking joke. What a lousy character, he's just a caricature. As for Jaime saying he didn't care for the innocents, I think he was just saying that like he often does, say things he doesn't really mean? Then again with D&D, it's possible Jaime kinda forgot his past deeds.

He really did love Cersei in the end, or at least a part of him loved Cersei. It may be hard and quite frankly 🤮 for you to hear but they shared an entire life and three children's births and deaths together. And sometimes it's impossible to walk away from the person that hurt us the most, and the person we've been longest because they made us feel the most, whatever piece of Jaime's heart Cersei stole years ago on that night before Harrenhal, when she convinced him to join the Kingsgaurd has kept him at her side since. He's so used to doing things for Cersei maybe he can't see himself doing anything else. It was always going to end this way, he wouldn't have ever killed her, not while she was carrying his child. I think that he does love Brienne in his own way, he thought she deserved better and shouldn't involve herself in this mess. But the love he has for Brienne as sad as it is to say is never going to be like the roller coster of emotional turmoil that was his relationship with Cersei that built up over his whole life, the woman he chose to die... The woman Olenna Tyrell said would be his downfall...but still🤮. And at the same time taking a girl's first time then leaving her for a woman she knows you have past with in any situation is messed up
@Julian Cain I have no doubt Jaime loves Cersei and always will. Of course he does, they've always been together from the moment of their conception. You can't really beat that connection. At the same time Jaime is aware that she is not good for him. He knows she's the reason he's not an honourable man. His potential as an man has always been blocked by his dependence on his twin. Jaime was going to be under Cersei's grip forever without interruption until he met Brienne and she ignited something in him that no one else could.
Jaime has always been a person of duality. He's good and bad at the same time and now two women of opposite nature is having a huge impact on him. One brings out the worst in him, the other brings out the best in him. The lure to be with Cersei is understandably stronger, she's like a drug to him but I'd like to think that even the hardest addiction, it is possible over time to overcome.
Either he goes back to Cersei as a lover and die with her or he remains this changed man who's going back to save Cersei because she's family after all. Both would have made sense, but one scenario would keep his progress intact. I wish the writers would have gone the route where his progress wasn't cancelled. Even if it makes sense, who wants to waste their time following a character for years only to see him go nowhere? The failed journey due to human condition type of story works best with short content like a movie or a mini-series but when people invest years of their time on their favourite characters following their journey up and down, at the end they (including I) need a payoff and going back to square one is the opposite from a payoff. It makes the viewers feel their precious time were wasted.
P. S. When I say a payoff, I don't mean a happily ever after ending. I mean an ending that showed the character's journey was not for nothing, that something came out of it.
I mean how could´ve they done this to us ? i still cant believe jamie went back to cersei (not to kill her) when he clearly loved brienne. I just cant believe they ruined they relationship like this. Is this what we have been waiting for all these seasons ? im just really sad and disappointed *crying inside*

Jaime and Brienne had a beautiful story arc, all about Jaime's redemption. Then the writers tossed it into the trash and had Jaime end up back exactly where he was in Season 1 Episode 1 , enthralled by his evil bitch sister. Apparently he had learned nothing in seven years.

I'm really sad about the way jaime's life ended , i still believe he did love brienne but Just not the way he loved cersei, what he felt for cersei was a wholelife love and a very toxic one, at the end when he knew cersei's life was at risk he Just couldn't help but to run to her, it's a sad and ugly ending but with a realistic touch... They were family after all.

I'm at peace with Jaime's ending and respect his love for family. However, Brienne... they ruined her character, sobbing her heart out in a robe after some guy.
The biggest waste of a character. Even if he died it should have represented his growth. And it was so disrespectful to the strong woman Brienne is. The Tomb and this ridiculous.
