Hahaha! Love this!!!! First speakers I bought was JBL 4410 for USD 50 then a 4412 at USD 200. BUT: Geithain RL-906 with 13K SUB. Even my wife loves those and I bought that setup instead of a family car…
Thanks for reaffirming my observation that my only upgrade path from NS10’s is ATC. I love your frank delivery, you remind me of my teacher from engineering school in the 90’s. most people nowadays don’t know what “sounds good” I agree. Dare I say that’s “by design”.
Love it, just subscribed. When techs who have just installed systems that I have designed want to demonstrate it to me with their iphones playing metal encoded and compressed I tell to stop immediately. BTW, the first tests that I conduct is phase testing, because when some of the system is out of phase, you could spend hours/days/years with an audio DSP (used partly for AEC in conferencing systems), chasing your tail. When I lived in Melbourne Australia, I was a member of the AES Melbourne Section. One night in the early 80s (I think), Bill Woodman, Australian Founder and Owner of ATC was a guest speaker and he talked about his now legendary 3" mid-range speaker, and passed one around. You needed both hands to hold these beauties, as they have a massive magnet.
The are good for beat makers / producers in my opinion. They are way too flattering for my taste. beryllium teeters are an acquired taste like grapefruit juice. Lol.
“We’re at a race to the bottom with these phones and sound bars” well said lmao I’d love a video on what good speakers are, anywhere from a 5” up. I was looking into footprint 01’s and came across this video.
what a random video to find. here I am looking at buying a pair of EV Sentry 500's for a fairly good price but are in need of some work in order to get them up to peak performance.. audio engineer here as well.. so i appreciated everything he is ranting about. .. it didn't realize Lanois uses these EVs.. I mean if these we're in the studio and helped him record and mix any of U2's albums..well that's a pretty good endorsement. since I'm in Toronto too (also a wierdly random coincidence) I gotta look into that reconer Santon Audio ..
Feels to me like streaming killed the value in it all. Nobody gets paid much at all for their hard work , so we have pop country now. Nothing resonates and resounds when it’s over, so it’s just oversaturated hot garbage at 192kbps because we don’t demand more from our entertainment.
I think that streaming platforms have placed the last nail in the coffin for dedicated audio playback systems. People ditched their vinyl, cds, and cassettes and started listening from their phones and cheap, Bluetooth mono speakers because "it's convenient". The audience will never truly appreciate the music, and it will continue to be a disposable commodity.
I wouldn't be caught dead with a smart phone. And I preferred the Tannoy PBM 6.5's over those hit or miss Yamaha's that were designed as a bookshelf speaker but failed. I get the "if you get it , it translates" but that went for everything with the Tannoy's. They translated better in my humble (who am I kidding?) opinion. But I"m in total agreement with the whole speakers, vs sound bars and all the blue tooth speakers and shit out there, advertising works, and humans are dumb.k But Hypex amps aren't really cheap, the ones in the Barefoot's, the footprints are quite nice, and they charge because everyone will see the +/- 1db specs, flat is good after all. But the small footprints are nice, nicer at half price. But 12K+ CAD for the mini stack...well that's just stupid. Quested make some nice boxes too.

Ironic his voice is panned to my left ear. That was enjoyable. I’ve had tannoy sgm10’s. Ns10’s. Prozac’s. Focals. TAD’s. ATC. KRK V6’ss. Whatever. I enjoy my PMC’s. I love working on my PMC’s. I know most will listen on an iPhone. I mix with my auratone’s for that. Who gives af. Use what works. Enjoy working on what works. I want 3 minutes of my life back
my left ear really enjoyed the video
This is my favorite video ever. I want to sponsor this man. High five to this fire breathing, truth spitter.
Best fucking video ever, the funny thing , I found this while searching for barefoot footprint 03’s😂😂😂😂😂

They really should light up this channel.
I one thousand percent agree with his analogy. he is spot on with the problem with people today.
I think ATC stands for Acoustic Transducer Company
if they could only get to hear/feel the magic of a stylus to vinyl at the Palladium in NYC 1980 they may cry, This guy is priceless,
thank god i have a mono button lol
i love how jaded this review is and the end was fire. focals have immense clarifty, dont get mad u cant afford them lol
The Focal trio 6 are a great speaker with excellent dynamics, superb transparency and they are also very good value for money.
4real
focals sound like phone speakers compared to ATC, There's levels to this

Not to mention trying to find chips they don't make anymore when your fancy digital speakers die. 🤦
Underrated take

ATC. Australian designed, English built.
