I was just finishing an unrelated video and was gonna click onto the next one, but I saw Chris reacted to an Eminem song 51 seconds ago, my plans changed immediately
13:55 The double up on the elevator line was because one was from this song, and the other was pulled from an old song elevator. Defiently one you should react to if you haven't already.
Dude, the entire song is about how he HAS changed socioeconomic class and yet he CAN'T change socioeconomic class because the po' white porridge he ate before hitting a BIG payday proving you CAN find ways to rhyme "orange" is too deeply embedded from how it formed him (much like the original song that he heard on the radio in childhood and sampled describes)! That's why he's not saying he has dinner early, closer to lunch time, because he's old; he's saying that since his mother's family were from Southern roots (suffering succotash!) and he was a little kid down here before Detroit, he picked up a lot of those ways, including that we call the main mid-day meal "dinner" and evening meal "supper." As a historian, I can tell you that's rooted in how cooking was adapted in a place with horrific heat and the farm lifestyle. The reason fried foods are associated with the South in the first place is because women used that faster process in a skillet rather than have to roast all day by the fireplace that works better up North back in the days before gas much less electric stoves and air conditioning. They'd load up on the farmer's breakfast, have a big reup at lunch/dinner, and do leftovers from the two meals for supper served cold or quickly reheated in a pan rather than be cooking through the afternoon temperatures at their highest. Some things just stick and don't change, with language moving at a slower rate than other aspects of culture, which I can tell you both from academic studies as part of the first generation to make it to college from my family AND firsthand experience this time. I was raised lower-middle class in the South around my mother's family, but we were from the mountains in what they call the "hollow" (pronounced "holler"). I married a man whose family was really just upper-middle class by the time we met but were in that antebellum aristocracy as far as ancestry. As I put it after 16 years and the divorce, conventions of socioeconomic class are REAL, and while I love it as literature, I didn't like being MARRIED to a Faulkner novel!!!

The cat's head line is a reference to a line HE claimed (as Slim Shady) in "I'm Back" from the Marshall Mathers LP (2000). The onion rings line is a reference to a line in "The Real Slim Shady" from that album as well.
Basically he saying some ofnthe b.s. he rapped jokingly in the Slim Shady persona is coming back to haunt him by fans acting things out to get his attention.
