It's sorta funny how many people have complained about this animation, especially in terms of "story inaccuracies". They really don't know what the purpose of a test animation is do they? The idea is to showcase different assets in action, to give the client and studio an idea of how things might work. We have the small villager style character, represented by Turaga Whenua, an antagonist, in this case a Kohrak Bohrok, and a protagonist, Toa Tahu Nuva. Having Fire and Ice as opposites is a common way to best visualise a conflict. The three different elements then allow for three different environments to test out, the rocky caves, the snowy surface outside, and the firey core within. It's not about being accurate to a story, it's about taking some recognisable assets from the source material and putting them in a context that provides a visual representation of what a final product might look like. I for one love the aesthetic of this, and the high octane energy combined with a sense of mystery. It feels very Bionicle, if you know what I mean.
I couldn't tell this was an animation for the mask of ligh movie until tahu spun his swords around, characters doing that is absolutely a trademark of that film lol
Im glad we did get the finalised hybridisation of toy and movie look for mask of light but I do like that the Bohrok’s “claws” actually rotate like saws I never caught on to that when I was little
yeah i've never liked how they tried to make them look so organic.. IN all the commercials and promo art we saw that Bionicle are just that. Sentient robost. why did they give them face flaps and muscle strands... * shudders *
@@TheManBehindTheSlaughter6669 the toy is the template for games/vomics and movies. It should match. Toy Story had it's toys just be toys and it made a huge difference in the immersion
I REALLY like how the eyes look on Tahu, much better than the movie ones, though it's a shame they didn't stylize the Bohrok, looks exactly like the set.
Trisket I shit you not. And if I were to guess, it probably came down to budget. It could also have been any other number of factors (artistic visions, conflicts between LEGO and Blur, etc., etc.).
Trisket Blur have worked on many things. They did the CG for The Amazing Spider Man reboot, Sonic The Hedgehog 2006, actually, a lot of Sonic games, but yeah. Theres a good chance you've watched a lot of Blur's work and not even known it. Most people know of the Halo work because it was so widely publicised.

imagine if this giant bohrok was revealed to be an alpha bohrok. More powerful than normal but weaker than bohrok kal. I know this is a size mistake but still you can write it in and the best creations and discoveries, come from mistakes.
