It's crazier than that. During the race, weird fans drive their stock trucks onto the track and pretend to race on it. Everyone listens for oncoming cars and thinks they can get off the track in time (because they're all loud as hell) but it usually results in a racer honking or even ramming spectator vehicles out of the way.
Quite a while ago the Baja 1000 had a motorcycle hit head-on by an oncoming car, it killed the rider! Then I believe 2013 one of the best desert Racers ever on a dirt bike hit a cow and died. Very sad day! he was one of my favorite guys I've ever had the pleasure of meeting
@@Miles_Goodson_Bangs_Kids Haha, I missed that one. Literally, at every spotting station, people are pulling that bullshit. And their stupid stock trucks look like clown cars compared to the real race trucks, they're not impressing anybody.
The truck does all the work. There is no looking for traction, no avoiding bumps. It just takes it and powers through. Amazing truck. If you want amazing driving watch someone do this in a VW Bug.
Thank you! Badass. Hairball. Sketchy AF. Especially when you get blinded out from the dust. I can't imagine what it's like at night. Orange/Yellow lenses make sense. The suspension blows my mind. I'd love to drive a truck like that one day. What an amazing team effort. Bravo
You have me so freakin pumped up. Im just in my living room yelling at everyone to look how bad ass. Im ready to run thru a wall. Great video man. This was my dream as a kid growing up. Im definitely gonna start following you.
Being from the east coast and being a Baja fan for as long as I remember, you can't comprehend how bad the desert is until you ride on it. You hit silt and you're whole vehicle is swamped in fine dust that enters the cab from directions that you didn't think possible. The only other terrain that's tuffer is rock and you better pay attention indy desert or you'll be rock climbing unexpectedly.
That is one of the most terrifying on-boards I have seen since group B got banned in WRC because of the uncontrolled crowds. People with their tents literally right on the edge of the "track" while you blast at high speed with the way ahead blinded from you by the dust of cars you are overtaking. WTF? The potential for a multi-fatal accident is virtually continuous. How is a driver going to feel if they make the tiny diversion it would take to plough into those crowds? I don;t think you'd ever get over that. Don't take me for a wooze - I loved the driver's skill and that noise & movement of that epic trophy truck... but the risk? OMG.
Super jealous that looks like an amazing experience!! Definitely a dream of mine lol my buddy is a mechanic for Mango Racing and i can only Imagine how intense everything must be from A-Z! Great composure while racing aswell!
Nice driving. I dream of seeing what I could do in one of those....Qs: Can you have a pit crew in charge of cleaning the GoPros? And HOW did the Fuel issue happen....someone forgot at the pit stop? The hydraulic lifts were insane....Know you are so blessed to get to do this.
Awesome video !! I haven't been to the Baja 250 in many years . Was that long stretch of trail with the powerline towers ..... Zoo road ??? . Also was that dry lake bed " El Diablo dry lake" ????
There’s a large remote reservoir coil-over and a separate large dampener to control travel at whatever speed. Really expensive tech advanced stuff. Doesn’t matter how fast your going it always works.
every time i watch these, I can't stop thinking, "one broken tie rod, blown tire, swaybar, anything really can send these cars flying off course." There's no room for error with spectators literally on the course, and this isn't even bad compared to the baja 1000.
It's been a lifelong dream to be able to drive one a trophy truck! Unfortunately I was paralyzed on my motorcycle several years ago, so I don't think it's really possible anymore😢
I'm shocked at the size of the braking and acceleration whoops. They seem dug out deeper than the suspension has travel. Like MX tracks get. I raced Mammoth DH before shocks on MTB's and after. The bumps changed from wash board bumps to much deeper curbs as shocks were introduced. Either way your still bottoming out.
Sabotage. Sometimes they do to slow a certain racer down, sometimes it’s to make them crash so that snatch parts and sell them. Sometimes for photos. sometimes they are just plain stupid
Initial response is correct. Some of the hundreds of people are nefarious. For the vast majority, they realize that freedom, fear, and fun go hand in hand.
Ya know, there’s always the possibility that some old man (like me) with a brand new big screen (like mine) is gonna naively click on this video and be found later with a giant hole in his chest cuz his heart sploded. Wasn’t me, man. Gimme more !!! 👊😎
Awesome trophy truck flying along over anything. The view of how hard suspension works to keep truck smooth is mind blowing. Crazy to see spectators so close too edge of running line. The driver would have been thinking please don't brake something or loose control causing him to fly off track or crashing through everyone. Don't get me wrong if we were allowed to stand so close we probably would be aswell. Some people that are jumping away from rut at last minute are taking it too far. Not only they die but driver and other spectators would have to live with it. Avagud1
Truck bombing down the dirt with dust in their face going 60-100+ mph with people standing 10 feet away. They really should attempt to make this a little more safe..

Got to love those Mexican races when you can stand on the race track it's like the running of the bulls for the spectators

They literally have gazebos full of people right next to the track! 😂
8:55 got a clown in his 40 year old Tacoma "racing" on the track

One of the best Baja vids I've ever seen.
Thankyou man really appreciate it🤙👍
The Love tap at 6:27 was awesome. Like Ludacris's song "Move Bi+
The driver is probably the most relaxed looking driver I have ever seen in the cockpit. Smooth and relaxed. Nicely done.
This is every other soccer-parent on the DC beltway every day.

That was badass! Can't wait to see the next one!
Awesome my favorite driver at it again can’t wait for the next one 🤘

That's what I'm talking about !!!! Awesome footage Chris! Eating a little bush and teaching the bump to stragglers!
This is the best race recap!
Lots of action good job!
Thankyou I appreciate it!
Best in car I've seen,I've raced with my Dad Bill Varnes of Mirage.Been involved since 1968. I'm Subscribed now
Heck yeah thank you for the support man👍
This was dope! Also just remember even Mario Andretti runs out of gas!
Man I love those Wide open V8 sounds
Amazing work! ❤
well,, guess that happens when youre literally flat out full throttle for the first half of the race.. great stuff man, incredible drivin!
Great footage the dust was viscous
Thankyou! Yeah the dust was definitely brutal

That racing leaves you on the edge of your seat, extremely exciting, fast and loud. 😊❤👍👍
Good Video!!! Thanks for sharing 🙌🏼👊🏼
that jack is some cool as batman sheet right there. 😲
wow excellent driving💪very good race, congratulations 🤙👍
Wow that was intense,I have always appreciated your talent, thanks for the ride along
professional skills with good adicate 👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️
2:38 MOBBIN 🔥
This adds more meaning to the definition "flat out in sixth gear".

this is normal
It’s scary forsure
Imagine how a personal injury lawyer would eviscerate the race organizer in court with these type videos if someone sue for wrongful death
Mexico by like 😂 F off dumb azz for being to close
It’s Mexico no one cares.
How different it is to see it from the outside, than to be there driving
Definitely the gopro doesn’t quite do it justice

The Bajs-Grabben right there.
Sooo cool loved it!!!
Thankyou!!
Holy shit at the little Toyota Pickup/Hilux that was in the middle of the course around the 8:45 mark. That's a WTF moment for sure!
6:52 hahah who designed this course. City is gonna lose power!
suspension in car like this make “beast god mod “work ! it is awesome how thej work
Awesome driving, especially in thay dust. All the prerunning in the world doesn't prepare you for that.
Definitely doesn’t, having good descriptive notes is definitely helpful
Awesome!
Awesome video !!
I haven't been to the Baja 250 in many years . Was that long stretch of trail with the powerline towers ..... Zoo road ??? . Also was that dry lake bed " El Diablo dry lake" ????
It was Zoo road and laguna salada
It really looks and sounds like a speed boat on dunes.
oh snap is that Keegan Kincaid helping out?! rad!!
So rad!
This shows what size balls you need to drive this race. Damn!!
It gnarly forsure!
That Sucks man but that’s Baja glad you finished ! 💪
Thankyou man thanks for the support!
you worked hard for that one. Was bummed when I saw your
tracker stopped. Was it the last minute course change that threw the fuel strategy off?
Definitely played a major part in it😂
Awsome Driver. 😊😊😊
Awesome video 10/10 :D
All-out flying like a Sunday drive through a tornado.
(16:35min mark) - holy crap, no idea trophy trucks had undercarriage hydraulic lifts installed on them.
It's a newer addition in the last 5 years I believe, awesome idea whoever decided to start doing it!
Does he ever explain how they ran out of gas. What went wrong & where?
100% badass
Bummer on the fuel miscalculation but overall good run it looks like.
Glorious.
Great mob session
Great deive
That truck is serious.
Why the cut to right before you hit the bush?
How the hell they get the camera on the outside shot to stay so stable as the truck bounces around
The good new I guess I got some inspiration for something
Clean
dude you were on a mission bummed about the fuel thing
I wonder if their suspension is similar to Motocross suspension in that it's rougher the slower you go and works better the faster you go.
There’s a large remote reservoir coil-over and a separate large dampener to control travel at whatever speed. Really expensive tech advanced stuff. Doesn’t matter how fast your going it always works.
What a dream
Pretty sure they are racing through "Breaking Bad" territory! Lol So Badass!!!
Can pass everything except the gas station! Hahahahaha

The suspension on trophy trucks is highly advanced and really expensive. Whoops and wash board bumps mean nothing to them.
6:13 😂😂😂
Them fans are way too close what are they thinking?
Sabotage. Sometimes they do to slow a certain racer down, sometimes it’s to make them crash so that snatch parts and sell them. Sometimes for photos. sometimes they are just plain stupid

Me driving home from work after the ex lax kicks in 😢
DAM that was a hell of a ride. who pays if a spectator gets hit, they are so close to the track?
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
@@Baja_Ian what
@@jeffreyjohnston6843if a spectator is hit that's just the risk they take
that's how you know you ran at full throttle through the race

where do I sign?
He WANTED to get in front of that truck to make him east his dust lol
and why change tires here, with such a coating and a competition?
We pitted there mainly for gas because that’s about as far as we can make it on one tank
Iloveit🎉
Those dust pockets had me white knucking my mouse. I wonder how often those stupid people that stand too far into the road get hit.
Fantástico

wow fckn crazy🤩
The music in this video is a bit monotone. Pretty good, though.
You cut off the last and best part :( I didn’t see myself on the vid :(
Other racer tired to push your way 😜
The constant clanging noise of the bonnet is very irritating. The motor sounds great.
how can someone become a trophy truck driver?
I love racings, but at the same time I hate destruction of the environment, whatever, good race
Lot of Darwin Award competitors out to watch, I see.
Truck bombing down the dirt with dust in their face going 60-100+ mph with people standing 10 feet away. They really should attempt to make this a little more safe..
its been that way for decades. If you want to stand that close to the track it's on you Jose
такое ощущение как будто он на вариаторе
looks so slow in this ahaha
Stabilized footage makes intense things look boring. Would be much better to have some shots of a camera dead-locked inside the vehicle.

what a dangerous situation wen the dust is dense, the stupid people standing on the side.....what happen with the gas??? bad calculation
Шикарное херачилово!
Not much on safety on that circuit are they, drivers or fans well being. I guess loss of life would be the game changer
It's happened before and it has not been a game changer yet
running out of gas .........thats a rookie move ...........just sayin ....................................:)
You ain't winning any races at those speeds.
