just another world that I can only experience via videos like this, wish I could find out more like what does it cost, how big is a team, what technology is used, and many many more, I salute all that participate
There are more affordable options available. This race in particular is open to pretty much anyone. Side by sides and Volkswagen beetles are relatively affordable and have their own classes. Bug racing has recently been gaining popularity again.
@@SkadooHusky The vehicle cost is the cheap part of racing in Baja 1K. You need a myriad of spare parts, tools, at least 3 sets of driver/navigator. A chase team at each pit stop, those chase teams will need a chase vehicle, probably more than one. That's before we get into the cost of getting your race vehcile compliant with the rules and we haven't even touched on pre-running yet which is essential if you want to be able to finish the race.
@@jabroni6199 there's a bike class in the Dakar rally that doesn't allow team support. What do you really need? What did they have when racing started?
It’s amazing how much of an absolute thrashing these trucks can endure. Seriously, hats off not only to the drivers and team members pulling together any successful run, but also to all the creative engineers and fabricators that come up with an always better design of the parts and methods that it takes to create these beasts that can endure the sustained abuse yet deliver such incredible performance all the way through a race like this. It’s truly amazing. Brilliant actually. 👍🏻😎👍🏻
One of the greatest elements of this race I discovered is the spectators that invest quite a bit of effort and resources supporting the participants no matter who they were or what team they were driving for. We met a large number of folks that brought along all sorts of support tools like cutters, rivet sets, towing straps, and on and on just being out there as spectators. They said that a great part of the fun was to help in keeping the guys moving when ever they could. Pretty cool. 👍🏻😎👍🏻
Amazing images, would not feel safe in this race with so much dust causing lost sight, my congratulations to everyone who has the balls to take on this chalange 👍👍
Great video man, love that you guys showed your faults and troubels along the way! We just are just humans, waiting too see next year and see you guys at the podium!
sorry the race went so shit for you guys, but damn you are fun to watch drive when youre pissed off! The fact you guys were in position for a podium (or win) at the end shows just hard you were pushing. I hope your boys in big red learned their lesson. Its safe to say fatigue may have played a role in that decision? We saw them at Arco at zoo road friday EARLY morning and they already looked toasty. You are a contender! Cant wait to see you push for wins in 24!
iam a friend of dwight strobel. enjoyed the video.. i think all vehicles racing, should have head lights to the rear, after watching all the dust you guys have to deal with, and no idea if youll slam into somebody ahead of you, just from what i was watching.. caught myself, breathing real shallow, while watching this.. you must have some real good dust filters, also for the motor...
66 years old when we were kids in Lorain Ohio we always had dreams of doing the 500...out of my league then...out of my league now balls to the wall gentlemen insane footage
I worked on radios for a few years in the early 90s on those monsters of the desert..... pretty cool machinery back then, WAY COOL STUFF NOW!!! I mean with satalite radios and GPSers now tho lol hehehe eh still cool video!!
Sometimes, "bumping" is the only way to pass, when the guy in front won't move. #1 rule, Never pull out in the dust to pass because there will always be something to hit & destroy your vehicle. Make the guy in front, who has a clear vision of the course, pull over. The guy in back caught you so you're already beaten by him. The other point is, as Rick Mears said on Dale Jr.'s podcast, "Let them by. You'll probably pass them later after they break or crash."

Not so easy to see from the ground. We knew it was there but had to get around the already stuck truck. Sometimes the only chance you have is throttle. In this case it didn't work out.
This showed why they dig out the silt pits so they can take advantage of the racer's and get paid. Funny how theirs always a tractor and alot of people where the deep holes are.
Desert silt gets chewed up with the first car through it & gets worse with every car that follows. It's called poof dirt where I live, west of Las Vegas, because it turns into a talcum powder type consistency when one drives over it. Always beware when there's a crowd of Mexicans watching & waving you on to go faster because they set up traps that will destroy you! LOL
How much money does the guy with the tractor make on this weekend? He's probably the cousin of the guy who repairs surfboards down in Puerto Escondido!
When is the king of the hammers, Johnson Valley2024??? Something is not right. There seems to be bad communication between the two of you...... At the beginning..... They must work together to achieve good results.
I desert raced, built & fixed cars in the 80s. Still fix a car now & then today. I never had communication with my co-driver because I was driving, had to "read" the terrain as far in front of me as I could see, & didn't need the distraction of somebody trying to tell me how to drive. Anybody can drive fast in the desert. Raw speed doesn't win races. The "trick" is finishing without incident & you will probably place well. I won my class most of the time & always had 1 guy that outran me by less than 1 second per mile for overall. I NEVER cared about times while racing because you're racing the desert, not the other cars. I was also pretty good at stadium racing too, winning with the cheapest car & lowest HP engine in the field.
I would like to know if the organisation that ran the baja graded the roads for the locals when they were finished the race? It would be a shame if they just disrupted the lives of poor people for there to be no benefit.
As a Dirt Bike racer that has raced the Baha 5 times. TOTAL RESPECT for the dang Trophy Trucks.
Im calling you guys the kamikaze crew damn dude stop pulling out in the silt when you cant see . Fun watching you guys👍🏻🏁

The Gambler 500 in Oregon is fun
There’s plenty of videos around from people and teams who e done the race that give you a general breakdown of cost. It’s not cheap.

22:20 Epic! Baja is amazing!
they gave him some cash 1 minute later, and then el senior holds it up like a trophy.
Nice video! Gnarly track, the silt looked very hard.
You guys are giving it hell , it's unreal how deep that silt is . Holy smokes.
It never ends!

Really appreciated. If it were easy it wouldn't be fun. Everyone out there is out there giving it their best.

That helicopter isnt there to make you safe , its there to film your near death experience, or your death .

What is Mexican AAA?.....A guy with a tractor that accepts $20's
Great video guys.
что за движок у них стоит?
лютая команда.
Экзотические места в Мексике! Похоже трактор первое место взял с перекурами!
13:10 🌵😢
@5:00 diabolical
I want to see the self steering Teslas take this on. Dust, visibility, wow.
I wonder if you have to stop if you hit one of the rocket scientists standing on the track.
Holy cow this is scary… especially for the people on the sides there risking their lives to be so close to the road
✨👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍✨
This really should be called the "Mud Packer 1000" because a 1000 miles of that beating will surly pack your mud😳😲😂🤣
So what PLACE DID U FINISH IN ??????
Watch the race video and you will see.
Интересно, как часто они делают химчистку салона😁😁😁😁😁
Seeing that helicopter should of been your first hint at the bar ditch across the track , I should of been a driver.

You need to let me drive
Corre recio like 👍
Samir your breaking the car.
How do you say Fun and Frustrating in the same word?
Amen!
4wd only way, or at least a big bore 2 stroke with a knarly knobbie. Fun to watch the speed though.
Trophy Trucks, Truggies, & Buggies are ALL 2WD. 4WDs are slower & consume more fuel. The UTV classes are 4WD.
Did these guys even pre run the course.
What o was thinking
Nope not even a little. Just sent it.
You guys should carry 100$ bills for all the locls that helped you out. Or get bigger tires

Jajaja Salía gente alludarlos quien sabe de dónde, Por todos lados avía alluda...
What a set up brings a tractor plow up the silt and charge the crazy gringos for extraction....😅

About $30 a pull. If you do the race make sure you pack a few 20's it is better than a shovel.
Thought the co driver was there to help navigate. Haven’t sent this co driver do a thing
It is all over coms. Hudson is one of the best out there. Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face. This is like that.

no worry about carbon footprint here.
Seems like more tire tracks then footprints out there. Tough to say overall.

Mostly we race on roads designed for the race. Most of the established roads for transitions remain relatively intact as they are hardpacked.
The no to oil use protesters disappointed me big time. I was hoping to see them sitting on the road right after those turns. You 🤡
Pushing the guy ahead of u should ban anyone from racing
Send that TRUCK to UKRAIN ?
